The weather has got a lot better, only a few rain storms over night and a brief one while we were on an excursion a few days ago. The trip was nice but not as active as I was hoping it would be. We took a speedboat out to a natural pool where we swam with star fish, then to Sanoa island where we basically just sat on a beach (something we could do at the hotel). At the end of the day we took a catamaran back. I enjoyed the catamaran and the natural pool, but considering how much the trip cost, it was a little bit of a let down. But, we've got 2 more trips booked in a few days that are a little more up my street. The first, a zip line course in the mountains, and the second, driving terracross vehicles through the countryside where we visit a coffee and cocoa plantation and then a cinote. We were told to prepare to get muddy on that trip, which, of course, made me smile. Im glad to report, eating hasn't been completely off the rails. Most of the food is grilled meat with rice or potatoes - or mashed plantin which is delicious - and vegetables. I did go a little crazy when I found the cheese station at the buffet a few days ago, but the after effects put me off doing that again! I've been to the gym again too and even managed to drag stu in with me. Did a leg day which I've been paying for all day! Today is stu's birthday so we'll be going to the steakhouse tonight and then to the bar for a few drinks. Cenotes are awesome, but can be freezing cold - which kinda feels good if you're doing a big zip lining/adventuring day out in the heat. Funny you should say that, there was a Christmas tree and a Nativity scene at the airport when we arrived for our return flight. I got in and instantly got changed and went out before I could come up with some lame excuse not to go out. It was a crappy run, I've lost so much conditioning over the last few weeks. But the longer I left it, the worse the first run back would feel, so I'm glad I got it out the way now instead of waiting for the beginning of the week to "start fresh". I'm ready to get started on the next challenge now. This wasn't too hard to get back in to, as I did use the gym a few times while away. Did barbell squats but kept the weight at 41kg for 3 sets of 5, just to ease back into them as I could only do 25kg goblet squats while away. Also did some weighted lunges to finish off the legs. Once I finished legs, I pulled out the gym rings and decided to have a play around with them again. Did some rows and then Stu and I took turns seeing who could do support holds for longer (I swear, everything in our house turns into a competition). He won, but only just - they are so hard! Then I moved the rings up to the top of the pull up bar and just practiced hanging for grip strength. Considering it's supposed to be a beginner move they are stupidly hard. Oh it's always good-natured. It's more that we use our competitive natures to push each other, as opposed to it being "I win, you suck". There's never any sulking, hurt feelings or arguments afterwards. ---------------------------- According to Facebook, I've been going climbing for a year now! Had a post pop up on timehop from when we had our climbing induction. We were doing top rope then, and did that for about 2 months before moving to bouldering.
