And then... life got even more crazy than usual.

 

The fear, ignorance, and hate that the election have shown made me very scared for myself, my friends, and my patients. Our clinical service at work exploded with very complicated, sick children whose parents required all of my emotional support. And I had 5 different attendings in 8 days, which meant that I was basically the only one holding our team, our patients, and our plans together. I worked hours akin to internship... and did a similar amount of work.

 

Blargh.

 

Today, I'm starting to re-emerge from all that emotional morass. Today, I'm really proud of myself for continuing my awesome established habits and for wanting to reengage with the hard work of making better nutritional habits. Today is just another day when I am SO GLAD that you all have my backs. For the rebellion!

Those families were so lucky to have you around. :love_heart::love_heart:  Double Bonus Points for staying with your positive habits despite the negativity around you.

 My new mantra (actually my first mantra really) is "Be the Change you want to See".  It resonates with me on so many levels.  There is the change I hope to see in the world but also the changes in myself.  If I want to see myself as a healthy person I have to BE that healthy person.  Probably seems obvious but it sort of hit me upside the head.

Movement Log - 11/19/2016

 

NF Handstands - Level 1 Workout

- IS warm up

- wrist mobility

- quadruped rocking 4 x 5

- elevated push ups 4 x 5 (45 deg angle - kitchen table)

- knee push ups 4 x 5 (some knarly form here, but more rest led to more good reps)

 

Wing Chun Bonus - 3 minutes of horse stance

 

NF Yoga - Proper Posture Mini Session

I've been doing a bit of the quadraped rocking. It seems like good practice for learning to put more weight on your hands.

Nice going. :loyal: Had to look up quadruped rocking, then realised I did some of it while painting the inside of the beardie cage :P I'll admit though that I used a little cushion under my knees, as the bird mesh isn't the nicest thing to kneel on.

It's sort of fun and meditative for me. I have nice squishy carpet. Bird mesh would be tough.

 

Eating like an idiot this weekend, but still.

- Breakfast - mindful moment, slightly distracted by posting on NF, quite hungry so made three eggs... still hungry...
- had sardines and peanuts for second breakfast, much better
- ate my lunch at 2:30 - quickly without a mindful moment, had 3 sugar cookies
- ate two bags of Fritos (headache, still typing, Emily disgruntled)
- bought a bag of dark chocolate sea salt caramels at Wedge... ate them while doing meal prep
- dinner of steak and green beans, mindful moment, grace, very tasty

- trail mix around 11am (good choice)
- working lunch cause we were BUSY, but spent some time just eating and talking with my med student
- bread and cream cheese around 4pm when I was flagging
- delivery Indian food, mindful, but fast
- some almond butter and trail mix

 

Stress makes me an empty pit. :o
