So, got laid off for a couple of weeks last round, used the opportunity to build a movement park at my house. Also did a bunch of Adulting.

MovementPark1.jpg

back to work (at the same place), but my new work schedule means a little less time for cross training at work. But I still get to roll/spar on occasion.

Combatives:

MACP/BJJ/MMA Striking 3 times a week at work (hopefully), Sunday Fight Club (Gracie Combatives/Krav Maga Worldwide) at home once a week. KMW Daily Curriculum on any days missed. Front Site Post eye training 2-5 minutes with bed time routine (not graded).

Cross Training: (Tactical Strength and Conditioning (TASC), MovNat Strength and Conditioning)

Tactical Strength and Conditioning program at work will probably be only 2 days a week. MovNat Strength and Conditioning at home to make up the difference.

Mixed Movement: (running, walking, hiking, balancing, jumping, crawling, climbing, swimming, Parkour, dancing, Capoeira, physical labor, informal training, throwing, catching)

Environmental Movement (Parkour/MovNat) integrated into cross training as much as possible. Swimming, Hiking, Working, etc.. movements integrated. Also includes recovery.

Adulting:

Always struggled with being a grownup. Heroes should do grown up stuff.

no specific event, just keeping making sure my "fitness" addresses real world exigencies, blue collar strength, etc..

  Get over walls/fences efficiently

Able to climb trees/scaffolding, buildings, etc

breakfalls/rolls (very important, everyone should practice this)

works with sandbags, rucksacks, floppy weight in unusual positions

  crawling

  etc..

plus it's more fun than normal gym work.

Ok, need I need to take a serous look at temperance. Need to stay off electronic addictions until all my chores and fitness goals are met. Skipped workout last night even though I had enough time. Also, did no Adulting last night even though there was plenty of chores to do. Basically walked through the door, turned on the video games, and started drinking, ignored the family. Not a good example for the kids. Stressful day is no excuse.

I too know this failing - I deal with by just playing phone games that are easy to put down, if I'm need. Also, making sure you talk to the kids before picking up the game controller helps

When my students realised I was playing videogames, too, they asked me if I was playing minecraft, too. I said I stopped playing it years ago, when they started to add all the enchantments and potions.

All weekend, no alcohol, 2 points Adulting.

I put this note on my favorite drink, turned temperance into something "manly".

"Temperance is closely akin to courage; for as courage takes on the pains which wisdom and justice find incidental to their ends, so temperance cuts off remorselessly whatever pleasures are inconsistent with these ends. The temperate man does not hate pleasure, any more than the brave man loves pain, for its own sake. It is not that he loves pleasure less, but that he loves wisdom and justice more. He puts the satisfaction of his permanent and social self over against the fleeting satisfaction of some isolated appetite, and cuts off the little pleasure to gain the lasting personal and social good." From The Cardinal Virtues, 1902, By William De Witt Hyde, retrieved from http://www.artofmanliness.com/2012/04/21/manvotional-the-cardinal-virtues-temperance/

I Should have done some mixed movement this weekend, but wasn't feeling it for some reason. The sprained left bicep tendon probably has something to do with it. All or nothing thinking lowers my moral when injured. Will try to try the new groundwork program today for lunch after grappling, as it is perfectly safe with my injury.

I did do full training Krav Maga Worldwide University online/Gracie University online program with my neighbor. Training partner had a bad shoulder, so we both worked through our injuries. Also, he's one of only three people (out of more than a hundred) I ever grappled who could simply out strength me, and force me to use complete technique. It's not often I face someone who is a fit 275lbs. 1 point Combatives
