Butternut

Butternut composts the scraps

Blech, off sauerkraut. I feel like eating that would count as cruel and unusual punishment.

On the beer front, I can relate all too well. I used to be a big drinker (drinking 5-6 nights a week) but now if I have even one beer I'm more than likely to end up with a hangover the next morning. I'm wanting to experiment a little with some Japanese and Korean beers that I used to drink and seemed to have less contaminants or whatever in them. Otherwise, I've just learned to accept it and drink iced tea :)

@Bookish Badger and @Dagger no food poisoning for me!  My husband cleaned the fridge out, so it shouldn't happen again (at least not in the next three months)

@deathbyshiny  it is certain beers for sure. I love IPA's and scotch ales but those ones I just can't have anymore.

You know that feeling you get when you have gotten sick off a type of alchohol or got food poisoning at a certain restaurant and you just can't go back? I'm feeling that way towards all beer.

@Kvedulf what is Japanese beer? Is that more of a rice beer?

Mmm mm maybe I should try saké....

Japanese beer is pretty much the same as Western beers - malt, yeast, water, whatever the hell it is that makes beer beer. There's a few differences in brewing practices and ingredient proportions, but at the end of the day it's beer. From what I can gather, there's some pretty high tax laws in regards to what can and can't be "beer" in Japan. In addition, the Japanese drinking/brewing traditions are built around quality and quality ingredients. Can't really explain it and I don't know if there is an actual difference, but Japanese and some Korean beers seem more "pure" for want of a better word. They don't seem to have nearly as much additives or "contaminants" as most Australian beers. Not sure if that contributes to me having or not having hangovers, but that's my theory.

Regarding beer, once I started having migraines in my mid-20s, I discovered that dark beer is a migraine trigger for me. Which is very sad because porters, stouts, and German dopplebocks are my favorites. Beers on the lighter end of the spectrum don't have the same effect. So I'd be willing to bet that you've developed some sort of sensitivity to something unique to those beers that adversely affect you.

I'm happy to report that ciders don't have the same effect and there are many delightful varieties out there these days. (Thank you, gluten-free folks thirsty for beer alternatives!) If you can find it, d's Wicked Baked Apple is basically apple pie in alcohol form. It's even better than Angry Orchard's Cinn-ful Apple.

Interesting... I'm going to have to look into this more.

I believe additives have a lot to do with the hang over. I found out in the summer that American wines are allowed and can use up to 70 different of additives. They use food coloring to change the color and add sugar to sweeten it up. We started drinking organic wine and/or a natural wine and I rarely have the same effects.

@Bookish Badger I think your right. And I love those thicker beers as well! I really enjoy IPA as well. Oh well..

Update: went to the doctor. Said my sickness was virul + allergy.

Being sick I didn't do ANY work outs or walk. I'm going to have to do my extra credits to make up points. Stretch video!

I'm going to lay low this weekend and start working out Monday.

My husband discovered where Bats are coming into the house! Yahoo! So we're sealing that off this weekend

Ew, bats.

Yay, snow, I guess if you're into that kind of stuff. :)

How are you doing this week? Are you feeling better now that you've given yourself a weekend?

I see what you did there ;)

How's it going Butternut?

Lol I got the joke too.

so I'm feeling better but then I started eating things like sweets, egg nog lattes, peppermint latte, then yesterday I had nooooooooo will power... I really think the over use of sugar, milk and a little too much wheat has gotten me to feel crappy.  Because today I feel like I did.

Im wondering if my body just can't take me bingeing anymore.

I'm re-thinking my work out goals for next month. I thought I'd be able to out do Josh, but it's not happened.

im surprisingly not upset or beating myself up though. Im feeling like "ok, this month didn't work, let's try something different"

thanks guys for checking on me!

Sorry I wasn't following along very well this challenge, but good job! Can't wait for the next one :)

No worries.

I'm not pride of myself because of my points, but I'm proud that I'm so ready to give myself a break, let go of my mistakes, and move on.

Once i I get time to get on a computer I'll start my next challenge.
