Lucky Fire Dragon's Daily Spin

So I've been away for a while and it was all for good reasons - being on holiday, getting back into good work rhythm, spending plenty of time with kids for school and fun, rearranging the house and uncluttering a LOT, catching up work projects that I've been wanting to do for 2 years and never got around to,... all good things, so I feel it was healthy priority setting and am very glad I did.

I missed you guys as you have become part of my larger family, too, of course, but I knew getting back on here would mean less time for the people around me here and for those past few months I soaked up that time like the sunshine on a beach and they did too. Now I feel those habits and relationships are wonderfully steady and will see how to be back here AND have all the delicious time with my family as well :) There has to be a way!! Am super excited to catch up on your adventures that I missed, yayyyyyy

Q7xdN.gif

As you can probably guess, the one thing coming short over all those goodies was my fitness :P

Well, I did go for many walks, and after gaining a few kilos over summer (went from 64 to nearly 68 :o ) I meticulously counted calories for a month to remind my body what a deficit feels like, what enough feels like and what eating more than I burn feels like... that was super interesting. I'm back to 65 now, some days 64 and would love to get it down to 62 kg (less to lift on pole ;) ) and also it's finally time to get some muscle back on.

Talking about pole...

sigh...

6 weeks holiday break were shocking there. Training only 3 times over the last two months did not improve this either :( plus I was too lazy for any push ups, pull ups, sit ups, yoga, ... you name it. Getting up early is the only "up" activity I have been successful on over the last few months.

Sooooooooooooo

It's time to get up on the pole again!!! For real

i_can_do_this.jpg.jpg

I was pondering for a loooooooooong time (sneaky way of procrastination, planning instead of doing :P ):

Should I rather do some hardcore, "proper" workouts 3x / week? Or should I do a little bit every day? Like 10 push ups, sit ups, etc daily? What about daily yoga? What about starting on weights for quicker strength gain to get back in shape? But then what about coordination on the pole? Aaaaaaaaaaargh

Was driving myself a bit mad on this ;)

So now I have decided for daily

small steps

on pole

Consistency and fun will be my mantras. I don't need to cover every main muscle every day, I don't need to train progressively, I just need to get up there and DO EEEEEEEEET

giphy.gif

Here's the plan:
- Train for 15 min daily on the pole, with warm-up and cool-down it will be 30 min, that should be totally doable

- Train one spin, one form of climbing and one pretty pose to hold each time

- only day off is Fridays as they are super busy days and I also have pole class Thursday nights anyway

Listed below are all the spins, holds and climbs I have learned so far. I will let a dice decide which ones are due that day and then tick them off here. Aiming to do as many of them as I can over the next 4 weeks, ones I've done won't come again unless in a combo for spicing things up. I really want to start small here, not aim for perfection but rather diversity and consistency. Does that make any sense? Not sure right now :D

@SymphonicDanif you see any similarities to any of your past challenges (like lists and letting a dice decide) they are purely coincidental....  kidding, of course! I loved that so much in your challenges, I've always wanted to give it a try and here I go. THANK YOU :love_heart:

Oh and I'll try to capture the various results on camera to link to each move for extra accountability. And maybe explanation of the names... but please don't assume I'm doing them perfectly, because I probably don't!!

Instagram would be best for this purpose, right? Am very inexperienced on that. Any suggestions?

So here is my list:

Motivation:

Getting my strong and sexy back on, having lots of fun again on the pole and feeling gooooooooooood ^_^ Isn't that what we always ultimately do it for? I'll try to incorporate this part into training already - please shout at me when I seem to forget and go for tense ambition instead :D

Thank you for sharing my journey with me, I'll do my best to cheer you on in return :cheerful: Let's go have some FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

YAAAASSS!!! You're back! All the pole!

And totes get on Instagram. It's definitely the easiest way to post pictures.

Thank you :love_heart:

Am slowly working it out. I'm so much more comfortable on a computer, so it's new territory doing it all on the phone :P but new is always good

Would love to just add a link in the lists of my starting point and haven't figured that out yet, as tapatalk (on phone) doesn't offer the links and computer doesn't know how to remember the instagram URLs  oh well, just a detail

Day 2 and 3

Okay, I admit it, day 2 happened on day 3 and while I have good excuses, they are just that and I'm aiming for better consistency from here on.

Which was put to the test today as it is a public holiday with us and with it being a gorgeous morning with mists over the fields and autumn colors shining softly from the woods I went for a walk with my boy and ended up walking all the way to the neighbor town with him, hunting pokemons :D There and back took us 5 hours, my fitbit counted 23500 steps and 16 km  hubby called as weirdos... not sure why :P

So after that it would have been very tempting to call it a day, but I went I did my few things, so yayyy :triumphant:

The walk was utterly beautiful btw, when the fog lifted it was bright sunny with autumn fire on the trees and clear view all the way to the mountains. I only have pics from the start as we tried to save battery life once we had decided to stretch the walk that far ;)

here's the daily spin that should have been yesterday

And here is today's

Crucifix or cross hold and release

Beginner climb

And with both legs at once (please excuse the crooked back foot, I'm still working on pointing that prettier)

This looks like so much fun, and that foggy pic is beautiful, I'm kind of bummed I won't see beautiful early mornings like that much anymore with my new job, as I'll be sleeping by the time the sun starts to peek. Keep up the amazing work!

Haha, I wondered whether the dice-rolling idea was inspired by me :P Glad it's working for you!

I'm impressed that you can find 59 moves/holds on the pole - that really shows that you have experience with it now... and you'll very much be training functional strength with your (almost-)daily training.

Oh boy how time flies... here I am catching up again

Swing mount from squatting. This is the very beginner version and always good to revisit [emoji5]

Climbing with switching the legs (front and back) in place as well as with a turn built in. As you can see I really need higher ceilings [emoji1]

Here is the fireman climb again. This time only with a 3/4 turn instead of a full one which is a lot easier, yay

Fireman hold and cross hold with longleg

Here is plié spin. One of my favorites [emoji5] easy, pretty, what more could I want

Ahhhh this one is not that easy for me [emoji12] fan kick half and full turn. Half turn is ok. Full turn, well let's just say it's better than it used to be [emoji23]

Here is a happy one again :)

Back spin is always fun

And finally superman and supergirl, squeeee

oh shame, I'll have to catch some for you to share... if I can still, today it started snowing :o good thing we spent the day yesterday all together getting the garden ready for winter. At least you don't have to worry about that see :)  no snow shoveling or salt again slippery ice on side walks either...

wow, impressive amount of walking. Loving all the pole pic's and videos.

Thank you!!

You know what?!!! I did my first kettlebell workout today!! So excited. My neighbor has a whole bunch which I noticed when I watered her plants for her and when I asked her about them today she said, she's doing other training at the moment and I could happily borrow them for a while. How cool is that? Started light with 6kg and did some goblet squats, rows and swings. Feels real nice I have to say!

Haven't dared the TGU yet though :D

awww, thank you! I'm a bit critical on pics and videos of myself (which is natural and human, I know) but the plus of it is, I really try my best and that is great for my training :D

It is tremendous fun, you should go give it a try somewhere if you can! Oh, I hear you on sleeping through the mornings due to shift work, I once worked a night shift job as well and would always come home when others only left... well, if it's any comfort, winter is setting in with us and now my family leaves the house in utter darkness and sometimes returns in the dark as well. Gotta keep that inner light shining ;)

Of course it was :) And it's awesome, no tricking myself out of the less popular ones lol
I've decided that one dice will do as I can just take the first not yet done move as one and so on and that works perfectly.

I was quite astounded myself to be able to list so many variations and moves, it really cheered me up. I'm sometimes frustrated by learning so slow, I've been training now since 3 years and when I look what other people achieve in that time... but I mustn't. look at that. I'll rather look at this long list and be happy ;)

Daily is really not yet happening *sigh* but yes, I am training functional strength and I am doing it, so that's already something, right?
