Nina-Rose: Keeping Afloat In Torrents of Words

I've been at NF for 20 weeks. I've logged my food every day, levelled from Academy workouts L1 to L2, and I've made very small changes, moved backwards in eating and haven't dared take a progress shot since week 12.

 

In short, it's National Novel Writing Month on Nov 1st, and my only real aim is not to give up on everything 'fitness-related' while I crank out words.

 

KISS: or WMMW, as it turns out...

:: Workout 7x a fortnight

:: Mindful eating via questioning if I really want this

:: Meditate once a week

:: Write fiction

 

The aim is to write (on average) 1,667 words a day. Hoping to catch up at weekends.  I've also had to book an eye test because I'm experiencing horrific tension headaches which impact everything I do. Trying to check eyes and teeth before speaking to a doctor.

I've got 1,00 more words to write tonight, and I binged badly on kitkats at work, but I've posted in the Academy FB group, I've prepared healthy lunch for tomorrow and my eye test is booked for Sat 12th (I wanted this Sat but they couldn't do it). I had to leave work early due to the headache, so taking codeine with me tomorrow too!

My WMMW for this week:

:: Workout 7x a fortnight - Spent yesterday thinking it WASNT wokrout day, and it was... so I did it today instead.

:: Mindful eating via questioning if I really want this - Mindful BUYING of food is a start, right?

:: Meditate once a week - Tick 

:: Write fiction - On track for NaNo, just over 10k done.

Came home from an emotional day and ate spinach+ricotta pasta, then a yoghurt before giving in to cake. I'm sure I would have eaten 3x as many cakes otherwise. Counting it as a win, and am preparing healthy dinner now ^_^

This week has been one of the worst of my new job. Today I had to go have a sob in the IT cupboard between calls because of all the emotions I'd been holding during one appointment.
But I've come home, cried on my husband and then worked out. Now, I'm drinking a chocolate protein shake instead of the bar of chocolate and the entire strawberry trifle in the fridge. #win

My WMMW for this week:

:: Workout 7x a fortnight - Again, I've stopped caring too much about how hard I train for this month, it's all about showing up.  But I've shown up :)

:: Mindful eating via questioning if I really want this - I've still consciously made the decision to eat badly, but it IS conscious I guess?

:: Meditate once a week - Tick :)

:: Write fiction - I'm behind on my wordcount, but aiming to catch up today. I've still written something each day. 

 

I also measured and weighed myself for the first time in 2 months. The academy recommends monthly but I couldn't bring myself to last time. Still, I did it today :)

Yes. I nabbed a protein powder sample because I'm still struggling with low energy; even letting myself eat the same diet I as eating before June and re-cutting my caffiene and using my SAD light.

 

This month I've forgotten to work out on the right days (I do every other day which doesn't divide nicely into 7 :P) but EVERY TIME, I did it the next day. SO i've had two cases of back to back days, but I went light on the second one.  Still no misses :D
 

My WMMW for this week:

:: Workout 7x a fortnight - I've done 7 per fortnight, even if the days squished around.

:: Mindful eating via questioning if I really want this - This is my key issue for the month, but it's NaNo and I DO eat junk to get me through naNo. Have for all 7 years I've done it, so that's fine. I'd say I'm conscious of my eating habits 85% of the time. 

:: Meditate once a week - I did this again :) .

:: Write fiction - I got ahead, now I'm back 'on track' again. Happy with that :).

That's pretty impressive for a stated goal of "not give up everything fitness-related"! You've got this!

I won NaNoWriMo on the 28th, passing 50k.
I'm planning my fitness journey for the new year (parents are giving us their old wii fit, and I used to use the yoga/strength training program a lot ^^) and just trying to keep up the 'light' workouts every other day. I'm really struggling wiht the the number of 'trackers' I seem to acquire. I'm on the Nerd Fitness Academy fb group and here and the NFA Habitica quests and then writing and working full time and part of a writing forum, and at uni and in a university whatsapp group and I just can't keep up with all the communities, but dont want to give up on fitness and writing and my job... Taking a bit of time to reflect on this year and what has/n't worked for me
