Draegon's Non-Jedi Challenge

Ok, Due to a severe attack of brain weasels aka the black dog (depression) last challenge I ended up bowing out before the challenge was complete.  This challenge I'm going to keep things very minimal.

 

PERKELE!!!!!!!!!

 

Goals:

  • Not to have to buy larger pants for the holidays - i.e. I want to keep my average food consumption below my MFP app goal of 2200 calories a day and make sure I'm getting at least 2 servings of freggies a day
  • MEDITATE - minimum 10 minutes a day.
  • Yoga - nightly sleepy yoga.
  • Tai Chi twice a day.

 

There that's it. That's all I'm doing until January.  This is not going to be a graded challenge this is pass / fail.

Note: just spent 2 days down with whatever this current bout of plague actually is (pretty sure it's a standard cold/flu but haven't been able to go to a doc). I made it into work today but I think Dayquil and Mountain Dew Kickstart are the only things keeping me vertical. Also waking up a 4 AM with cold sweats and unable to breathe is always so enjoyable.

Update: still ****ing sick - I'm barely making it through work but have at least made it off the couch everyday since Wednesday.

I've contributed two sections to the beginner's guide that we are working on, so far.

Week 1, Day 1 (I count M-F)

Finished today with 1000 calories left according to MFP.

Missed TaiChi this morning but I signed up for the Cateran Society's online apprenticeship program for Highland Broadsword (the military saber I was studying is actually based on this via the work of Henry Angelo). Bedtime Tai Chi, yoga, and meditation are happening after I do a few minutes of fencing drills.

Ok, Past two days, I've managed to come in under my MFP calorie goal without really watching what I eat.  (Since I've been doing leftovers for lunch Yay, goulash veggie portions have been happening.  Tai Chi and meditation not so much.  Still having sinus issues, but nothing that actually keeps me down, I've just been really tired and getting short of breath fairly easily. Hopefully, this will let go fairly soon.

Well, week 1 was a bit of a wash. No Taiji, no meditation, but I did keep me eating reasonable, and came in under the MFP goal everyday except Saturday, when I got a bit too drunk and turned in to a pompous, arrogant asshole.  With the taiji, I've been oversleeping my alarm, and abusing the snooze button.  So I've been super rushed in the mornings, getting ready and out the door for work, and I've been letting that ruin my whole day, instead of trying to recover and salvage what I can.

Alright, meditation happened yesterday. 6 minutes of mantra meditation using "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" (Yes, I really need to work on my humility), 10 minutes of general meditation on my lunch break, and about 20 minutes of guided meditation before bed. Still no Taiji though. MFP showed about 1290 calories to spare yesterday.

Food:

two servings of freggies - check

Under my MFP goal calories - check

 

Meditation:

10 minutes before bed

10 minutes office yoga

 

Bedtime Yoga: no

Taiji: no

 

Any fencing/boxing/movement work: Not really, I practiced some cane moulinets (circular strikes) at my desk.

Bedtime Yoga: no

Taiji: no

 

Any fencing/boxing/movement work: Not really, I practiced some cane moulinets (circular strikes) at my desk and Montery's cane entry movements while waiting for my ride home from work.
