Snarkyfishguts
For this last 2016 challenge, I've got two goals. 1. Keep a journal. I really like the set up I had during Whole 30. I would write about my sleep, what I ate, track my exercise and water, and then reflect on the day. I felt like I was on top of things, and it was a great way to build habits I still do today. It was just a nice way to see what was going on, make decisions and just stay calm and focused on goals. 2. Make goals and an action plan for 2017. I have a wishlist of things I'd like to accomplish in 2017, but I think where I went wrong in 2016 was that I lacked a plan of action. For next year, I'm going to really get SMART about it, and set myself up for success, instead of making more work for myself with vague and lofty wishlists. This next month will be challenging for me. There's going to be some personal stuff going on, and this month will be great practice in keeping a good mindset when chaos is swirling around. Because I don't think things will ever calm down or settle. So I'm learning to not wait for the opportune moment, but just take ANY moment to get something accomplished. Right now, I'm taking this moment to take a nap. THE POWER OF NAPS!!! Okay guys, have a great challenge!! 10 Quote Link to comment

Snarkyfishguts
Yesterday, I went to the hospital for an ultrasound because one of my varicose veins was inflamed. The clot was superficial, and I was sent home with care instructions and a mandatory referral to a vascular doctor. I have varicose veins in one leg from having large ovarian cysts for a couple years. By the time they were diagnosed and removed, I had four cysts that collectively weighed 45 pounds. They also removed my right ovary and part of my left, and my lymph node to test for cancer. Everything was benign, but I've had issues with swelling and varicose veins in my left leg since. That was ten years ago. I haven't weighed under 200 pounds for eight years. I was surprised by thoughts yesterday that I'm broken. I thought I had overcome that a long time ago, but that thought came through a lot yesterday. "I'm broken." My grandmother died from clots, and I was going to die like she did. That's not helpful thinking!! America Ferrera shared how training for a triathlon helped her quiet her inner critic. I read it at 3am when I was thinking "what am I going to do? I can't keep living this way." And I felt so connected with how she described her inner critic and so inspired by how hard she worked to change her mental narrative. The group I'm in (hi Doodlies) is doing a mindset challenge designed by Tanktimus the Encourager. Everyday we write a positive statement from Tank and add to it, read something life affirming, and meditate. My personal addition is borrowed from America with one extra bit "I am whole, healthy, strong, and capable. I got this." I think the healing process after a traumatic event is a continuous one. They don't really tell you that. You'll be fine, it takes a while to feel better, they say. The truth is, you do feel better, but then shit happens and it comes to the surface again. That toxic thought scripts work into your belief system and it requires work to dig them out and reprogram your brain a bit. But does that mean one is broken? No...I think those events can shape us, and give us a deeper appreciation for life and the people around us. Today I call the specialist and work out. I threw away my stash of junk food and I'm starting today eating three meals that follow the plate rule. Dessert is for Saturday or Sunday, and holidays. I am losing the damn weight. I can do this. I will do this. Today is day one 4 Quote Link to comment

Snarkyfishguts
I have a terrible cold in my head throat and chest. my family had it and now I have it. I was really mad at my folks because they just cough open mouthed! also I disinfected the house daily but i forgot to disinfect the steering wheel of the car. d'oh! I'm not mad anymore. I would've still taken care of them. they take care of me. This cold puts a cramp in my get healthy plans. I can barely catch my breath sitting, so exercise is out. I can focu on Healthy Eats and Goal setting for next year. I'm struggling with my goals. I think I need to approach this like a job. when I'm working for a client, I put aside feelings and get it done. I get done before deadlines, I communicate, and I stop second guessing and just make good art. as I make my 2017 goals, I feel this whiny child inside saying "do I have to?" Well... no. but I want to. I choose to. because I want the payment at the end of the work. the fitness, the health, the personal and professional growth. My phone just.did this thing where it looked like it was getting ready to pop into another dimension. like not the screen, the phone. I'm wicked tired, off to bed for me. 4 Quote Link to comment

Snarkyfishguts
Slowly working on my SMART goals for 2017. I've made a few changes from my first draft, because I realized it was too much and there was no way I could do it. I am tweaking my schedule, and trying to make a timeline for each goal so I can stay on track through the year. Still sick, unfortunately, this seems to be a two week cold, so hopefully I won't be sick that long, but...I can only keep taking care of myself and let it go. Snarkyfishguts
Good stuff about today I signed up for a Craftsy left handed knitting class. Even after one session, I am so excited. I taught myself how to knit in college, and over the years, I've learned so much, but the certainty in knowledge can be empowering. Today I learned that I am a left handed continental knitter, and that making a small adjustment to how I hold the yarn makes a huge difference in the ease and speed of knitting the stitches. So now I am zipping along with my hufflepuff scarf Peppermint tea is awesome!!! All tea is awesome, I love peppermint today. My throats feels better and the minty smells rock. 7 Quote Link to comment
deftona
Are you left handed in general, or just a left handed knitter? 1 Quote It's the hyperman set Profile picture credit : NF's resident super artist - NinjaKitten Link to comment
