So after about 6 weeks of sloth and vacation I need to get my act back together. I have since gained about 5-6 lbs so losing those and continuing to try to find visible abs is a goal.

 

I have a GORUCK Light on 12/10 and then a back to back Light/Tough on 1/13-1/14. I really did not want to do these but they are the MLK themed ones and he was such a great man I figure I could endure the cold for him.

 

I have IRONMAN Texas 4/22 and I just signed up for EAGLEMAN in June since it will be my sisters first half IRONMAN.

 

 

So for this challenge I am really trying to focus on what I put in my body, as well as my daily training. For now I am sticking to 2,200 calories, low carb, paleo with dairy and no drinking. Unlike training for the last IRONMAN I am going to try to do less volume and get my body in better physical shape. I am focusing on strength and flexibility. I struggled a lot running longer distances with my body breaking down this past summer and I want to run more often with shorter distances now. I will be focusing 100% on stretching daily as well as appropriate foam rolling and Yoga two days a week.

Well day one. Got up early and hit the duolingo. Ready for a lunch time gym date and have all my food ready. Leftovers from thanksgiving taco bar, but only the meats.

11/28 Recap

 

Yesterday went very well but was busy. I was up late so I worked late and then was doing stuff late unto the evening. I got to bed about 9:45 and slept in until 5:30 this morning. I lifted reasonably light so as not to induce DOMS badly. IT worked for the most part. I also only ran 10 minutes on the dreadmill without music and that was hell. Wednesday I will shoot for 15 minutes and slowly progress. Skipped the bank and haircut since I was getting home rather later than usual. Calories were at 2k, carbs were sub 40.

 

I did give overwatch a 30 minute test run since my game group is switching to it on Wednesday nights now. Cool game but no where near Counter Strike(long time player).

I Was supposed to get up and head straight to the pool, instead drank coffee and did duolingo. I did the pool already though after being at work for an hour. Short day at work then dentist and a haircut. Swimming was short today though since I had chest DOMS and it felt like heart attacks. Going to do a yoga video tonight instead of at the gym because of the dentist.

Actually yesterday I was a t2k even and I probably will be all week until it really kicks in, Sunday night though I ate quite a few cookies so that helped. I also drank my weight in wine over the 4 day weekend so I could use a break(or is it brake?).

 

No idea what to expect from cold gorucks, hopefully not water but who knows.

11/29 Recap

 

Nailed it! The DOMS is getting worse on my outer thighs though. O well, power through it. I did not get a chance to do an actual yoga class at the gym but instead did one with Adriane on youtube, it was pretty fun. Calories were 2.036 and carbs were 53 grams. I have been listening to more pod casts now and other educational type learnings(TED radio hour on NPR), so here is a gif of a table saw(I listen to one about making things)

Dropped my car of for safety and emissions, turns out it needs rear brakes and I don't feel like doing them so I am paying for my first car work in 5+ years I think. Going to lift/run at home today since it is super nice aside from some rain.

11/30 Recap

UGhhh, tried to find a nice image for leg goblins(DOMS), and found this. By the time work was over it was clear I was not lifting due to DOMS. I then got lazy and didn't do all my tasks, not the end of the world since I am really getting the feel of being so productive and my first two days were 100%. My wife managed to convince me to run with her for her 15 minute run off the bike. This run hurt but was awesome since it was low 60's and pouring. Then I played Overwatch and drank a couple beers. Went to bed at 9:45. Calories were slightly over 2,200 and carbs were an evil 102 grams. If I am to drink I need to do it smarter.

 

Also with the discussion of MLK in this thread slightly, today is the anniversary od Rosa Parks not moving to the back of the bus.

12/1 Recap

 

I got to the pool yesterday and swam a nice 1400 meter workout. I forgot what happens after swimming when you are not used to it. It is similar to "everything hurts and I'm dying" except it is "I am exhausted and starving". So tomorrow nights dinner plans which were supposed to be a simple Thai take out dish for me became eat all the things and order drinks at the bar while we wait for food. I have left overs for today and can fit them into my limits just barely.

 

On the plus side I hit another workout, on the down side it destroyed me, left me with no will to do anything afterwards(including yoga/stretching), and turnt me into a ravenous beast. Next week I really need to get into the pool first thing in the morning so then I can eat my regular meals afterwards and feel more satisfied.
