Hard weeks do happen. Good thing there's always a brand new fresh one of those right afterward. Or so I'm told lol.

lol yass. I actually am going to do the next challenge just for some group support and accountability since i'm so off track. Normally I'm fine with just the good ol' BL. But with all the health shit and my ever expanding waist line, a calorie challenge is in order.

Then I got groceries and the cashier said, in regards to a case of soda, "oh you can just flip that over so I can scan it without you picking it up" me: proceeds to do several bicep curls with the case of soda "I don't mind picking it up." Sorry not sorry.

This made me laugh ad it's exactly what I would do.

And I got blood work done, I'm very anemic. Which explains a lot of fatigue and lack of general interest in extra activity. Silly bodies.

That SUCKS. What type of anemic? Iron, vitamin, or something else? Hope it's the type you can fix.

You can get back to it! We all go through times like these.

Finally caught up with yours while actually having time to write and react. :D Hope you're doing well.

Back from vacation!

I'm going back to doing Battle Log. I'll set goals for two weeks and then start monthly goals September 1.

For the next 2 weeks (Aug 13 - 31):

- Track all food

- Calories under 2100

- Exercise 3x week

- 10 min/day Duolingo Italian

Duolingo is super weird to me. I've studied languages before. I used to speak Italian and lived in Italy for 4 months. The app totally skips over how grammar works and just uses rote memorization to learn how to conjugate the verbs, etc. It's really weird to me, so I found myself looking up grammar charts to jolt my memory along with the app.

This smacks of a poor tool. All my language experience has been with a human teacher, so I could imagine software being a hard switch.

I agree, if I hadn't previously studied/spoke the language it would be super confusing. I *think* that there are apps that are better but I figured I would start with the free one? I've heard so many people on here mention Duolingo that's the first one I tried. Babbel is paid so I presume better? Definitely not paying for Rosetta Stone unless I get super committed. Babbel would probably be my next step if I stick with it for 2-3 months.

Basically I've been doing research on medieval Italy and OBVIOUSLY a significant amount of the books/websites are in Italian. Websites you can use google translate but a language refresher would be super useful.

Completely fair and no point shelling out if you aren't sure you want/need it. Hopefully the free version will see fit to be helpful as a review.

my experience with duolingo is that the grammar notes are on the desktop version. i would run through those when on a computer and do the app lessons on the go!

Except not really with that level of enthusiasm.

Mr T went back into the hospital, had surgery, and is back home. So I was gone for a week again. He is recovering at home and I'm working half days this week to help him out. (He usually sleeps in late anyway.)

Food has been not great. But i'm back into a routine so let's get this party started.

I have been keeping up with my duolingo even while he was in the hospital (lots of time......) so that counts for something, right?

Time to start reporting daily calories: Monday: 2087

Went grocery shopping and did duolingo. (I have tried to plan healthy meals for the week.) Still haven't really been exercising. I have to taken what seems like an infinite amount of laundry to the laundromat tonight, so I'll workout tomorrow. But I will check if Mr T is up for a short walk after I do laundry.

Thanks! He's mainly sore at the incision site, but he is recovering well.

- pork chops with a garlic white wine sauce, green beans, and baguette

- cod with a tomato kalamata olive chunky sauce*, and rice

- crockpot beef (roast not ground) pasta sauce with penne and broccoli

*I have mostly tomatoes coming out of the garden so I've been looking up things to make that don't involve making actual pasta sauce (aka peeling and deseeding tomatoes is not my favorite thing and these are small ish). https://food52.com/recipes/59516-fish-with-sauce-nicoise

I'm omitting the capers. I have parsley, chives, and other garden herbs to toss in. I may add thyme or basil or oregeno or rosemary or everything.

my relationship with calories this week

This kind of makes me want to do an NCIS challenge... I only ever started that show when I was in the hospital and somehow got hooked...

Tuesday: 2438, whoops. but I tracked it and I reported it.

Here's a pro tip, don't buy tasty snacks, and don't get stress rage munchies from doing umpteen piles of laundry.

Wednesday: 2125, yay!

Thursday: 2402, I was all on track until I drank my feels in white wine. Still around maintenance.

But my weight is starting to recede from vacation weight gain, just in time for me to go outdoorsing (cabin) this weekend. I have a meal plan and now I need to stick with it. I'm also planning to take at least one hike. Gotta keep in the fitness routine. Wednesday I lifted and if I have any time before we leave tonight I'll sneak in some dumbbell work in the living room.
