The first book in The Jack Ryan universe that Tom Clancy creates stars John Kelly. He has been shot in shoulder from the back. After a few weeks of rehab and physical therapy he is swimming the bay of his island. He pushes harder on the shoulder that was injured. To quote a Steve some of as my know 'Anti Fragile'

 

Last challenge In order to define my level 50 I set a quest to read the Jack Ryan universe.

 

As you may note from the previous challenge my level 50 character will have aspects of my core values.  *figure out Quest planing and tracking currently cobbled in with Challenge posts*

  1. Happy
  2. Father
  3. Mormon

 

Like last challenge I will be flushing out the quests that go with this:

  1. Maintain traction- the stretch will be adjusting to the cold weather
    1. Monk - up early
      1. Alarm is set for 5:30
      2. This mean at work 6-630
      3. + 8-9 hours = 2-3 pm
      4. Carpool is at 4 pm
      5. This means- Work a full day and have time for activity (Moov interval walking or biking) *may need to weather adjust. IE BWW or HITT at 5:30
      6. Success is done with enough time for activity.
    2. Activity - 180 min per week.
  2. I will be putting a new focus on Community - a group of people doing something
    1. Gaming community-
      1. Mention the Rebellion and what I am doing ie 'back after activity'  and 'I met my activity target for the week'
      2. Support and help others.
      3. Leverage one of my strengths- Loyalty- this will usually be constant participation.
      4. This ties in with Fun
    2. Family-
      1. Continue posting to group chat when I am active
      2. Recount Level up your Life's analogy and invite them to join ( district 12 for Katniss)
    3. Nerd fitness
      1. Read and like every mini post challenge
      2. At least 30 min per week reading 'General Chatter'
      3. As a stretch either
        1. Reply to the 5 most resent Challenge post (once per week?)
        2. Reply to the same 5 challenge posts each week.

I always do think that actually posting on NF should be written down as a habit, especially regular posting. I know some people just drift away or stop posting. But yay for an awesome challenge!

I guess it is Day one: and long day 10 hr work day :)

 

 

  1. Maintain traction- the stretch will be adjusting to the cold weather
    1. I an holding myself to getting Something before I go to sleep
  2. I will be putting a new focus on Community - a group of people doing something
    1. I am posting and reading NF before I 'do fun stuff'
    2. I am putting time with the Server and streamer and making videos
  3. I have felt strongly about adding healthier eating
    1. Tomorrow's quest is a Vegetable smoothie for breakfast
    2. Today's success was portion control.

SITRep!

 

I lost my Moov fitness tracker over thanks giving- it has bee replaced:

 

Monday and today I did the cardio boxing- 7 min and 13 min respectively

I have been having tickle wars or the like for an hours with the kiddo most days

I had a green smoothie yesterday and today. and am on track for tomorrow

Great challenge! Also, I love your work hours, I find early in early out is a wonderful step towards work-life balance. (As I try to convince myself to gym early today so I get to work early :p)

 

What kind of activity do you most enjoy?  I saw on the mini challenge that you bike, me too! What are your winter activities?

I hate having to think about the workout. washing P90x is ok. referencing exercising printout is the hardest. Wii fit is ok but i am not pushing myself.

 

I love that the Moov counts stuff for me like Wii. The hardest part of it is not having enough room to lay down (sit ups, push ups, planks walking lunges) and not being able to complete 3 circuits.

 

The interval speed walking is pretty good but not much bang for the buck (calories per hour) Running is still too high impact.

 

With the second tracker I have been enjoying the cardio boxing

 

 

 

 

Challenge one (a level one Jack Ryan is similar to John Kelly (Without Remorse by Tom Clancy)) was about Sticking with it- finding a groove. Biking and stick to a schedule

Oh my gosh, yes we got snow and it was so fun!! My patients and I spent rather a lot of time just watching it come down. 

 

Yeah, I get you on the winter adaptation. It's just so easy in the summer to find something physical that doesn't make you miserable, winter makes us get creative. If you get a yoga mat, maybe you could use a hallway for planks and stuff without killing yourself on the hard surfaces?

 

I'm not sure where you are exactly, but Vasa Fitness is the gym I go to,and they have loads of locations. They're 10 bucks a month for basic acess to all equipment, and 20 bucks a month gets you classes, pool access, racquetball and basketball court access...if you have one in your area and it's feasible budget-wise, it may be a good option for the winter time slump? I like to go in the morning before work, because if I wait till the afternoon, it ain't ever gonna happen!

 

The cardio boxing sounds way fun!!

 

(Lol sorry if I'm being way too eager beaver with the problem solving...I get excited haha)

 

Looks like you've worked out a good plan of action to achieve your goals!  You'll be a super spy dude in no time!

I can't believe you biked in this weather. That is truly a feat of courage and strength! I won't bike if it's less than 50 degrees outside....Hargarrth better be grateful to you! =p

Almost prophetic!

 

Well I miss targeted. I have been fighting each night for WILL POWER to be active- I have note. Partly because it felt wrong.

 

A huge contributor to my November success was That By daily schedule Reinforced the activity and it was  Reprieve from the day.

This month it is extra to do.

 

Basically I am trying to be level 5 at level 2. I am changing activity to figure out schedule.

Well I've been around a few challenges, I know a bit about how these things work. No problem in slowing down progress. It's still progress!

 

Just tune it down a notch, the most important thing is you try to not forsake your whole challenge as that will give you a disadvantage in the upcoming challenges.

 

Think of it as changing gears down to climb a mountain. You can't go full speed all the time. When. The road gets rough you slow down to take it on.

 

You got this, we got this!
