I think I need to do a challenge. So I am!

 

I fell out of a lot of healthy habits I had been building earlier this year (see: daily mobility; movement 7 days/week; etc.). I still eat pretty paleo during the work week but I also let a lot of junk through for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I has excuses but those are silly and what I really need to do is try to slowly build back up again and focus on the future. I’ve got a lot going on this month as I’m sure many people do…

 

December activities:

Wed. 12/7/16 – Xmas supper club with friends

Sat. 12/10/16 – Ugly Sweater 5K

Sun. 12/11/16 – SO’s extended family Xmas party

Fri. 12/16/16 – Friends Xmas (and a birthday) party

Sat. 12/17/16 – Friend’s family Xmas party

Sat. 12/24/16 – Dad’s family Xmas party

Sun. 12/25/16 – SO’s family Xmas gathering and Mom’s family Xmas gathering

Sat. 12/31/16 – NYE partayyy

 

Goal 1. Weights

  • 10 weight-lifting sessions. I will be aiming for 3/week but don’t want to dive back in too strongly and get burnt.

 

Goal 2. Cardio

  • 10 cardio sessions. GASP. Welp, I’ve gained about 17 lbs over the past year or so and feel like I need some endurance in my life. Plus I like to do 5Ks and OCRs.

 

Goal 3. Yoga

  • 4 yoga sessions.

 

Goal 4. Eat

  • At home. All of the parties I’m going to this month will be homemade food except one. I really should not need to be eating at a restaurant (or take out) at all this challenge. I will allow myself two visits to a restaurant and two coffees that aren’t plain nut milk lattes. Extra pride points if I don’t use those visits!

YAY You're here! I'm here too, to cheer you on!!! :D All the things! Yes yes, even the cardio... I'm with you on the OCRs... a necessary evil I suppose. YAY!

Week 0, Day 1

Grocery shopping. 45 min walk with dog and friends. Visited Dad. Went out to lunch with said friends and had a pulled pork bap with sweet potato fries and a pumpkin martini. Went home to do laundry and make the breakfast casserole. Ate halo top and thanksgiving leftovers for dinner.

 

Week 0, Day 2

Slept in so no gym in the morning.

 

throughout the work day

some planks, maybe 3? @ 75s

boat pose @ 60s

wall sit @ 60s

lunges @ 60s each

 

did a 25 min cardio HIIT routine after work. complete with burpees, every style of jumping jacks, and jump squats/lunges.

 

Ate pretty well:

egg casserole

coffee w/ coconut milk

banana

leftover turkey, green bean casserole, and sweet pots

kombucha

coffee w/ whole milk

suja green juice

leftover stuffing and green bean casserole

chicken breast and brussel sprouts

 

was trying to prep myself for a 3-day juice cleanse that starts today.

It will be nice to see daylight in January for a change.  The sled dogs will also enjoy the break.

haha it's really not, but very un-warrior like. my coworkers did one about 3.5 months ago and I joined in bc it was the height of summer bbq season and i was eating all the things. okay really every season there's a good excuse for me to eat all the things, let's not blame summer here. anyway, i did well and some good side effects come with a short juice cleanse - not eating candy or other goodies at work, not having to cook dinner, just pressing reset on the inner workings of the bod. i've read a lot of criticism on juicing so i know that long-term it would not be wise for me. most of the criticism is for homemade juicing where you see people making sugary juices for longer than 5 days and only consuming that so your blood sugar and metabolism get all whack. but a good 3day in the middle of the week cleanse worked for me and i figured between tday and xmas would be a good time to rinse out.

honestly it's super easy to get in a 1-3 day cleanse! i like the ease of ordering from a juicery (and they'll deliver to you or your work!). given all of the parties i'm going to this month it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do a 1 day cleanse every week... hm.

I really feel like I need a 1-2 cleanse to help get the salt bloat out. For medical reasons I couldn't do anything longer. But cleansing the system of salt sounds glorious. Probably after I get back from our trip next week Wednesday. Do you order online or is it a local place? Send me a message with the info if it is a national company?

unfortunately i've only done local places! here and here. but i've heard good things about blueprint ! i was surprised at how many local juiceries i had near me though so might want to check that out first. the one we're doing now gave us all our juices in mason jars that we get to keep. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THAT

Week 0, Day 3

Short weights session in the AM. Was super tired though since I woke up in the middle of the night with a coughing fit. It integrated into my dream about not wanting professor snape to leave my very normal college I was at.

juice juice juice juice. and coffee. You get 5 juices and a cashew milk per day. but I drink my coffee with coconut milk to keep my cals above 1200. I really do love juice. they were all delicious. their green one was a lot more sour (lemon-y) then others I’ve tried but I like sour citrus flavor. And the cashew milk was friggen heavenly.

 

also i am now officially sick with sore throat/sinusy stuff. woooooooo
