It doesn't say exactly which obstacles there are, but they provide some obstacle training resources. If you put in your email they send you a free training guide for 5 or 6 of the obstacles, plus there's loads of videos with tips on how to train for it. They also have a Couch To Sprint training program that utilizes mostly bodyweight and a homemade sandbag (I can attest that the sandbag is cheap and easy to make!). https://www.spartan.com/en/training/how-to-train/obstacle-training-videos (Obstacle training videos) I'm gonna say, based off what I've seen of the obstacles, that core strength, upper body strength/grip strength, and stamina are our friends! 2 Quote Valkyrie's Epic Quest: Level 2 Ranger Challenge #4 Valkyrie Practices Discipline Link to comment

Tanktimus the Encourager
Rangers, Week 2 has fallen, failing utterly to derail us. Week 3 is coming. How will you respond? Some days fancy words aren't enough to get you going. Some days no matter how many videos you watch, how many articles you read or how many wise thoughts you think, it just feels like there's nothing in you to keep going. I don't mean the feeling you get when your body needs rest, I mean when you've got the physical energy but not the emotional energy. Sometimes that's from burnout, and there are steps you can take to fix that. But some days you just don't give a crap and don't want to do anything. That can come from a number of places, but the truth is no matter why you don't feel like doing anything, you have a choice before you. To give up, or to move. Days like that you have to dig deep, and think about what you want to become. Days like that, you draw from discipline rather than motivation, because motivation is fickle and unreliable. Days like that you look within and see who you really are. Here's the good news. You get to decide who you are when you look that deep. At that level, who you are is what you decide to do when you feel like crap, when all the excuses pile up, when your giveacrap gland stops producing moveacin and starts dumping cantbearsedetone. If you, despite feeling horrible, decide to move, you've won. On those days, it doesn't matter how hard you work out, how far you walk, how heavy you lift, it matters that you decide to do something, then do it. Week 3 is going to come alongside of you and try to say that it's ok to give in and remain sedentary. You've worked hard enough, or alternatively you can never work hard enough, so why bother? Week 3 is a filthy liar, week 3 plots your destruction and demise, week 3 stands too close to the baggage carousel at the airport so no one can see their luggage. Somewhere deep down inside of you is a decision, to move or to quit. What do you decide? 10 Quote Current Challenge "By the Most-Righteous-and-Blessed Beard of Sir Tanktimus the Encourager!" - Jarl Rurik Harrgath Link to comment

DJtrippyT
This is what happens when you are cutting and your training partner isn't: Also for general amusement (mostly for @Sloth the Enduring) : Saturday my boyfriend and I were in the kitchen and he was playing with our (my) cat and I went up into the cabinet where we keep the kitty treats and pulled down this packet of treats that are shaped in long thin strips - kind of like a jerky stick - and unwrapped and gave to boyfriend saying, "here you go" and he apparently thought it actually *was* a jerky stick and before I could stop him he took a huge bite out of it and started chewing and then his brain caught up with his taste buds and oh my god you have never seen such a facial expression. He spit out the treat and was gagging all over the place. He was so mad and completely convinced I had done it on purpose (I was rolling on the floor laughing which probably didn't help) and now every time I hand him something he gets this suspicious look in his eyes like I'm trying to poison him. You'd think he'd never been accidentally fed cat food before. The cat ate the leftover treat with no problem. 15 Quote the year of living trippily Final Boss, Part 2 Boss, Part 1 Previous: Adult Content Brain Weasels Choose Your Own Adventure Woman of Mystery - Worth it Simplicity Spoiler Take it Outside II Take it Outside Even More Current: 52 Days Currently Current: 100 Days Current: Queen 2: Electric Boogaloo Queen of the Jungle THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE CHALLENGE Apart six: Amazon (part 5) (part 3: The Wickening) (part 2) (part 1) Link to comment

Dav Ghtroc
Hey, Rangers! It's Robyn, but I've decided to change things up and have a more adventure-y Star Wars name this year. Thought I'd mention that if anybody remembers me from--what?--six+ months ago when even back then I frequented the hall infrequently... Anyway, I've been busy finishing up my last few semesters at school (finally in my last semester of classes), but still keeping up with the fitness stuff and making it a priority (although the holidays were a bit tricky and it took me about two weeks to get back from that backsliding). Looking forward to getting back on here eventually. So, quick question for you guys: has anyone here started doing any running and dealt with some heel pain? I've been doing running on and off since last Spring and have started to have a little heel discomfort for the past--I dunno--three months. I am pretty sure I can narrow it down to when I got new shoes and tried to do the minimalist thing with some Feyues. I've since gotten some shoes that are a bit better, but still have light padding. (OLLO Sapiens and some K-Swiss ones--I've never had this many pairs of shoes in my life, hahaha.) All of them are better than the steel-toed ones I was running in before, but at least with those I wasn't having any heel trouble. I have noticed that I definitely grind the heels on my shoes before anything else, but I'm not really sure how to correct this. Anyone else have a similar experience? I'm still getting a kick out of the fact that I can run without wheezing like crazy, and I don't want to stop doing it because it's a nice thing to do on off days when I'm not doing bodyweight stuff. Any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dav 2 Quote Anyone not willing to risk being left behind? Link to comment
