D&D with the Doodlies - Challenge 1 2017

Welcome do Dungeons and Dragons, the Doodlie version.

Everyone is welcome to participate  

By participating you DON'T become a Doodlie, it's just that this game in this form has been invented by the doodlies.

 

A short recap of how we play

You start by copying the character sheet and fill it in (see rule book for details on this). After this you put a link to it in your signature, and put the link on the sign in sheet. 

The name of your character is the same as your name on the forums! This makes it so much easier for the DM's

 

You've got 4 primary abilities. You can level these up infinitive by doing stuff in real life like doing cardio, strength training, meditate or learn stuff. 

Besides that you've got extra ability's you can choose to your liking, to shape your character. By choosing a specific race or class you gain bonuses for certain abilities, but you're not limited to them. 

The DM (doodlie master) tells a story. You tell the DM how you wish to react to the circumstances the DM described. He or she will determine, by rolling a dice and comparing the result with the ability that's applicable in that situation, if you're successful or not. 

 

For example: You wish to talk to a cute guy in a bar. Since you're a beautiful elf, the DM decides this shouldn't be too hard for you, so she uses a D4 (a dice with 4 sides). (Or the DM decides that this is very hard since you're an ugly ogre and she uses a D100 (a dice with 100 sides)). She looks at your psyche level, say you're level 3. With the D4 you'll succeed by a roll of 2, 3 or 4. (With the D100 by 98, 99 or 100.) The DM rolls the D4 and you get a 3. The cute guy is willing to talk to you. Say you roll a 4, since that is the highest role the cute guy comes to you and tells you everything you wan to know. Or you get a 1, and the cute guy slaps you in the face and leaves. 

 

We play from January 8th until February 4th

I took a look at your character sheet, and it looks great  

If you want you can copy the second and third tab of my character sheet (that I copied from someone else, I think it was Sylvaa). There you can easily keep track on the progress of your abilities.

How do the character sheets change from one challenge to the next (if at all)?  I'm not sure how to go about that.

Your character sheet stays the same. You can even continue working on your skills between stories if you want.

I'm tentatively in.  I'll be getting more workouts in now regularly so I might be able to participate a bit more.  It does depend on the Doodlie PVP though.  I can't let D&D get in the way of Pancake Glory.

FYI: The sign-in sheet link at the beginning of the post ["A short recap" paragraph] and at the end of the post [with the links] take you to two different destinations. 

 

I was the only one not signed in on the top one though, so you should be able to just replace the link at the end of the post with the one from the beginning.

The one of the bottom was the new sign in sheet. The other one I copied from the previous d&d session.

 

So, if everyone would please add their name to this sheet? That way I know who wants to join this time.

I think I put everyone in the new sheet that has signed up for this round, but I would appriciate it if you checked if your name is on the list if it should be  

 

@MickChele I see you signed up too. Welcome  I can't see your character sheet yet. Could you alter the permissions so I can see it too? You do that by clicking the blue 'share' button on the right top of the sheet, and select 'Get shareable link' on the right top of the pop up box.

The morning after the Perkele party, you wake up late. Your spirits are high from partying, and you are ready for anything!
After breakfast a letter and small bottles of liquid appear on the kitchen table. You open it and read:

Word from the Great Yak, the Tooth Fairy and the SW is that you are Great Heroes, who selflessly battle great evil and save the world whenever you can.
It is because of this I contact you.
We, the creatures of the sea, are under attack. An evil being is trying to eradicate all sea life. He already destroyed parts of our underwater world and he doesn't seem to be inclined to stop. We tried to fight him, but his armies of monsters are too strong for us.
If you decide to accept this challenge, please drink the potion send with this letter. Drinking it will allow you to breath underwater. But beware: once you drunk the potion you CAN NOT breath above water. When you've defeated this foe, I'll give you the reversal potion so you'll be able to breath on land again. As your last adventure didn't pay much, you are desperate for money. And the lure of gold and diamonds is very appealing to you. And off course eternal fame will get you the hot chicks/dudes.

 

Tell me what you want to bring with you from the doodlie castle. Feel free to re-pack your backpack if you have one packed from your previous adventures. I'll tell you if the stuff you want is present at the castle, and if not I'll give you some alternatives.

Flippers. Goggles and a spear. Like this sans body suit and tank. If I don't get any objections from the group or the DM, I'd prefer to swim in the nude if possible....maybe this can be an extended skinny dipping adventure?

I run to the spot where I had been sleeping, grab my pack, and empty the contents to the floor. Some bread, some rope, a towel (it is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have), a water skin... 

 

I stop and look at my very not waterproof pack. Then I look to my belonging. Then back to the pack. "I need to do some serious planning if this is going to work." 

 

I still need a little time to think, but I will have something up tomorrow.

Haha, you are already thinking like a doodlie

I've got no objections to you swimming naked, but you'll be more vulnerable to attacks without armor. So, are you sure?

 

You find yourself some flippers and goggles. The spear you find is different from the one on the picture:

Do you want it, or do you want to search for a different weapon?

Hmm......a couple questions.  

 

1) can Max come with?  Is there enough potions for him to breathe underwater too?  How well does a german shepherd do completely submerged?  lol. 

 

2) Normally I'd use a bow.  Would this be unwise to bring, being underwater?  If so, I'll grab a spear, as above.

Sure, there is a potion for him too. In Dutch a seal is a "zeehond" that literally translates to 'sea dog'. So after he drinks the potion he'll change into a seal.

A bow and arrow seem to be very ineffective

Somehow I wasn't following this thread...

 

I woke up late after the Perkele party.  Going to the dining room seeking a nice pancake brunch, instead I find the communication and the bottles.  Before drinking my bottle, I make a quick run to the pool battle room in the basement.  My sledgehammer won't do me much good underwater.  I'll grab a trident, flippers, mermaid armor, and a net. I make a quick stop back at my room to grab a dry bag from my rucksack for rations and other dry supplies.

As he ponders the message and what to do, Oramac looks down at his companion.  Would any of this work for him?  There seemed to be enough potions to accommodate him, so it was worth a shot at least.  

 

Figuring that his bow would be nearly useless underwater, Oramac quickly ran to get a spear and his well-worn leather armor, as well as a pair of flippers and goggles.  

 

EDIT: If possible, Oramac searches for a pair of webbed gloves as well.

Running back to the dining hall and seeing everyone else with goggles prompts Shello to run back for a pair of those too.

You find the trident, flippers, armor and a net. There weren't any rations left from your previous adventures, but you find 3 portions of rations in the doodlie kitchen that can be eaten while in the ocean. Since you can't breath above water when taken the potions a dry bag won't do you much good, as you'll need to open it under water, letting the water in.

The flippers and goggles are yours. You search for the webbed gloves, but you can't find any.
