PrincessHeather
About me: Hokay… so I have been a part of Nerdfitness for almost 5 years (!!!). I have mostly been a lifter and paleo person, but since my move to Alaska and pregnancy and new motherhood all really threw off my routines and habits. I haven’t been around as much this past year, but I’m determined to change that. I’ve been in Alaska for 3 years, my husband is military. But we are fortunate enough to be staying here for another 5 years! I love to hike year round, so this place is perfect for me. My kiddo is almost 11 months old, and a little hellion! I also have a german shepherd who I do obedience competitions with. My overarching goals are to get stronger and lose the baby flab. If I lose weight, awesome, but I know better than to think just seeing a certain number on a scale is going to make me happy. I want to look and feel fit, and gain back the strength I lost while life has been so crazy and hectic. I also want to be developing good routines, because in July, Mr. Princess will be deploying overseas so I will be taking care of things at home solo. I feel very fortunate that after our long distance courtship, we've only had very short term separations, a few weeks here and there. So this is our first time dealing with 6 months apart. It'll be different but he's going to be in a pretty safe location relatively so it's that it sucks being apart. Right now the plan is to stay in Alaska for the summer and early fall, which are glorious, and then probably spend about 2 months with my parents in California so I have more help with kiddo and to spend the holidays with family. 2 Quote "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment

PrincessHeather
So today I intended to start my whole 30, but I didn't do my meal planning or shopping yesterday. But I made a plan, made a list, and remembered to use my coupons so I can easily start tomorrow/as of dinner tonight. I also am going to be re-doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women. I did this program right when I first started lifting about 5ish years ago, and it really helped give me structure and I made a TON of progress with strength. And since I have barely done any lifting since about the 1st trimester of my pregnancy, I'm basically gonna be starting from scratch and should see a lot of newbie gains and DOMS. Today I printed out my log sheet for the 1st 4 weeks, and took all my measurements so I can update my challenge. I also need to take some pictures. Bonus: The local university has a Body Pod, which measures body fat via water immersion, which is supposed to be quite accurate. I'm planning to have this done when they open back up from the holidays, so I can have another (more meaningful) metric for progress. As for home routines, I have done a load of cloth diapers and started a load of regular laundry and loaded the dishwasher. One of my goals is to keep my sink clear and the dishwasher unloaded so things can be rinsed and loaded immediately. And to do small loads of laundry each/every other day so it's easier to put away than having a giant pile getting wrinkly on the guest bed. We have guests coming in a month, so I need to keep that bed clear and be working on the other clutter. Other quick thing is to wipe out sinks and brush the toilets everyday the first time I use them, instead of waiting until they're gross and more time consuming to clean. 3 Quote "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment
ManicSpider
I'd be interested in what kind of pattern NROLFW has you doing - is it the big 3 lifts or something different? This one seems interesting with a nice structure. Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment

It has the big three as well as some other pretty functional stuff (pushups, stepups, etc). As much as I love the big three, this program kept me from getting bored. Hopefully it will work this time as well. 48 minutes ago, Taddea Zhaan said: This is also a very important step. I'm interested to follow along your Whole 30 journey. I have done a Whole30 before and found it to be REALLY helpful and effective at dealing with sugar. I've definitely gotten complacent with sugar and processed crap, using the excuses that I was pregnant and tired or baby was up all night and I deserve it. It's time to get it in check. 3 Quote "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment

PrincessHeather
Here's some fun pics of me and the kiddo and pup in the snow. It was about 3 degrees! I try to get outside every day, even in the the extreme cold. These are my new workout shoes! Bought them to motivate me to get into the gym for weights twice a week. I couldn't find anything I liked for lifting and jogging/zumba locally, so I bought two sizes of these off amazon and returned the pair that was too small. Yay for free shipping and returns. I did my two lifting workouts and they were tough. Even though NROLFW starts off with higher reps and lower weights, it was still really humbling to see how much strength I've lost. I'm excited to use these Food has been pretty good, despite realizing that I have not been Whole30 compliant... mommy brain didn't make the connection about whey protein mixed with milk being dairy haha. But the spirit of the whole 30 I think is more important for me, and aside from my (organic/grass fed/no additives) protein shake, I've kept to non processed foods and no added sugars. So I think that's good enough for now. Continuing on with better guidelines! And house stuff is going really well. The better I am about doing a little every day, the easier it's been to keep up. It's definitely snowballed and made the routines tighter and better. Meal planning especially had the great spillover into keeping our grocery shopping in check and that is helping our budget goals. Last year this time, I was SUPER pregnant, and so tired and swollen and just unable to keep up with life at all. I feel so much better and I'm seeing so much progress in all these areas that I'm feeling really encouraged 3 Quote "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment

I try to go to the gym as soon as I get home from work so my car is still warm and defrosted. I run inside, change, get my gym things, and head out. If that doesn't work with your schedule, does your car have remote start? p.s. Your pics are so gorgeous! 2 Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment
PrincessHeather
Doing well this week! Meal planning is so important... I planned it all out on Sunday, shopped on Monday, and actually stuck to the plan! No need to last minute figure out food or resort to eating out. So much better for our budget too. And since I've been so good at the house routines, my sink is empty just about every night so I can easily cook meals throughout the day and immediately clean up afterwards. I did a bit of cardio and my lifting routine last night. I did deadlifts with an empty olympic bar and they felt great. I think I'm ready to add some weight next week, when the reps are going down. Overall things are going well, even despite kiddo still having really erratic sleep. I need to work on developing better habits for him with naps and sleep. We both need it. 2 Quote "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment
