Starstuff
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Episode V A NEW HOPE It is a dark time for Starstuff. Seduced by the call of Dark Side, she has spent many months away from the REBELLION and her Jedi training. After a fearful encounter with the dark lord Darth Complacency, Starstuff realized the true price of the Dark Side of the Force and vowed to rid herself of its influence. Accompanied by her new companion, the canine FN-2187, Starstuff leaves the remote ice world of Sloth in search of her Rebel friends... It's been a while, but I'm back! Since I was last here, I acquired a new puppy (yes, we really did name him FN-2187, but he mostly goes by Finn), ran my first full marathon, and then used finishing my first marathon as an excuse to slack off on, well, basically everything for the past four months. Needless to say, I have not been progressing much toward my goals, health or otherwise, and in some cases I've made some serious negative progress. But the time for slacking has passed, and I'm ready to rejoin the ranks of the Rebellion. Goal 1: Attend Rebel mission briefings I decided to bite the bullet and try out Rising Heroes, so this goal is simply to complete all of my Rising Heroes missions every week during the challenge. Full credit for missions completed on time, 75% credit for missions completed after they expire. Goal 2: Perimeter patrol If you're going to have a successful rebellion, it's important to patrol your base for Imperial probe droids...or zombies. To that end, I will run three Zombies, Run! missions every week. Goal 3: Ration supplies Running a rebellion means using what few supplies you have to the greatest effect. I don't tend to make the best food choices in the moment, either health-wise or budget-wise, so my goal is to prep my lunches for the week every weekend, and then actually eat what I've prepped to take in-the-moment decision making out of the equation for the meal that gives me the most trouble in that regard. Life goal: Forge a holocron Holocrons are used to store information and Jedi teachings. They take a great deal of time and work to forge properly. Much like writing a novel! It will no doubt take me many challenges to complete my "holocron," but my goal for this challenge is to add 500 words to my novel every day. _____________________________________________________________ Updated with goals, but I'm keeping the picture of my pup because I love looking at his cute, fuzzy face. 10 Quote only what you take with you Challenges: Starstuff Wars Episode I, II, III, IV, V, VI NF character ~ Fitbit ~ Strava ~ Smashrun ~ MyFitnessPal Food Log Link to comment

Starstuff
Week One, Day 1 Goal #1: Walked a mile and a half with my pup and did my first strength training session in probably a year. I'm definitely feeling it today. That's all my current Rising Heroes missions checked off. Goal #2: Planned day off. Goal #3: Prepped my lunches for the week and ate a previously prepped meal for lunch. Life Goal: Wrote 501 words with the help of 4thewords.com, which I highly recommend. Starstuff
Week One, Day 2 Goal #1: Walked a mile and decluttered a shirt that never fit me right. Goal #2: Zombies evaded. Goal #3: Ate my prepped lunch. Life Goal: Wrote 530 words. Week One, Day 3 When I came up with my goals, I failed to account for this day being super booked. I was rushing around all day, and I still didn't get everything done. Lesson learned; next time I will have my calendar open when I'm writing goals, and I will not create a schedule that requires a time-turner. Goal #1: Just barely managed to squeak in walking a mile right before bed, decluttered another shirt that I never wear, did another strength training session after lunch, which made me five minutes late to my dental appointment (whoops!), and made a roast green bean and new potato dish for a potluck. Goal #2: Planned day off. Goal #3: Ate my prepped lunch. Life Goal: No writing today. Starstuff
Week One, Day 5 Goal #1: Walked my mile, did a strength training workout, and decluttered yet another shirt I never wear. I do seem to have a lot of those. Hmm... Goal #2: Planned day off. Goal #3: Ate my prepped lunch. Life Goal: Wrote 511 words. Assassin Mini: Added extra reps to my first strength training set for AMRAPs of 35 bodyweight squats (I clearly need to increase the difficulty of this move!), 14 elevated push ups (I can probably go a bit lower on these, too), and 12 incline rows (these killed me, but I might still decrease my incline a little since I still finished my other two sets of 10, if only just) Week One, Day 6 Goal #1: Walked a mile and decluttered a well-loved shirt that nonetheless has a stain I haven't been able to remove after many tries. Goodbye, teal shirt! You made me very happy during the years we spent together. Goal #2: Planned day off. Goal #3: Ate my prepped lunch. Life Goal: Wrote 507 words. Week One, Day 7 Goal #1: Walked a mile and decluttered a pair of pants meant for someone whose lower body is shaped very differently than mine. Goal #2: Ran my third zombie mission for the week. Goal #3: I had an unexpected in-law visit, so I ate my prepped "lunch" for dinner instead, but I'm counting that as a win anyway since I ate it instead of something less healthy for me. I also went shopping and started beans soaking for next week's meal prep. Life Goal: Wrote 1144 words. Have I mentioned I love 4thewords.com? Because I love 4thewords.com. otterbyte
Wow! Your week one is going great. I'm not a writer myself, but I'm always impressed by people with that gift. I'm glad you found something that gets you in the groove. The decluttering looks good, too. That's the trick, one thing at a time and before you know it, it's all gone! Then the trick is not to just run out and replace it with more. Have you heard of givebackbox.com? It's a program Goodwill has that lets you print a shipping label which you then put on a box full of things to donate. You can either drop the box off at the post office or schedule a pickup and the shipping is free. Plus, you can even print out a receipt if you itemize your taxes. It makes the whole donation thing very seamless, and therefore more likely to happen. ps: the link isn't working for me right now, but i think that's just a glitch on their end; google "give back box" and you should get it 3 Quote otterbyte, level 3 chirpy otter assassin STR 3|DEX 2|STA 3|CON 3|WIS 4|CHA 3 current challenges: otterbyte juggles priorities \\ old challenges:4-week: DEC16 * JAN17 * FEB 17 * APR 17 * JAN 18\\ Assassin MiniChallenge: Epic Throwdown Championship * Assassin's Age: Origins \\ Monkey Tamers United Ever tried. Starstuff
I conveniently live right down the street from a Goodwill donation center, but I will definitely pass along the info about givebackbox.com! Week Two, Day 1 Goal #1: Walked my mile, decluttered a cute skirt that's just a little too short for me to feel comfortable wearing it, and did my strength training. Based on my AMRAPs from the Assassin mini, I decided it was time to fight the workout Boss for the Academy level I was on, and I kicked its butt, so next week I'll have harder workouts! Goal #2: Planned day off. Goal #3: I had a late brunch with my FIL, so I didn't eat my prepped lunch, but I did do all my prep cooking for this week. Life Goal: Wrote 595 words. Assassins Mini: 6 knee push-ups Week Two, Day 2 Goal #1: We got new weekly missions from Rising Heroes today, and all the new stuff is stuff I already do, woo! Made my bed, put in my mile, and practiced my Spanish in excess of 15 minutes. Goal #2: Ran from some zombies. Goal #3: Ate my prepped lunch. Life Goal: Got totally distracted by WoW and people being wrong on the internet, and completely flaked on my writing today. 4 Quote only what you take with you Challenges: Starstuff Wars Episode I, II, III, IV, V, VI NF character ~ Fitbit ~ Strava ~ Smashrun ~ MyFitnessPal Food Log Link to comment
