Michi likes to move it, move it

The last few months I've done the bare minimum exercise. My gym buddy hasn't had time for the gym, so I haven't gone.  My hiking buddies haven't had time to hike, so I haven't gone.  That changes this month.  I've also noticed how boring and repetitive most of my cooking has gotten when I'm not hunting for a new recipe.  Finally, a goal I set for 2017 is to rebuild a social life, since I am tired of feeling lonely all the time, the way to fix that isn't sitting on my couch thinking about how lonely I feel.

 

Goal 1: Hit the gym 3x a week

No more waiting for the gym buddy. I'm paying for the membership, I should use it.  There is no reason I can't go 3x a week or more.

 

Goal 2: Hit daily step goals

As I did last month, I'm setting the goals as 10k on non-work days and 15k on work days.

 

Goal 3: Cook a good variety

I've noticed I tend to make the same 8-ish meals over and over. This month let's see if I can cook at least 15 different dinners.  Then next month we can up it to 20 and so on.

 

Goal 4: Start rebuilding a social life

Instead of spending my weekends at home in my PJ's, let's go see people. We'll say 4 social events for this month. Yes, I'm setting this one very low. That is because it terrifies me and I want to start small.

I would say that's actually more than what I've done at times... but then I tend to hit my extremes.

Always think of you when I hear this song.. shared it back to you many months ago. Adding it to my 2017 Pandora radio (hoping to attract some good things by choice of new music options).

Also now inspired to find a weekly song at least... finding music for soundtracks I always find to be fun (a little harder when its about my own life though).

That's right, you did!  I wondered where I had heard of it, LOL!

 

I'm doing two (possibly three) social things next Saturday before the challenge starts. I considered counting them, but, then what would I work for the rest of the month?  Same with the cooking I did the last three days and the meal planning for the rest of this week.  Waiting to start will make me do the things on schedule. Or something.

When I shared it though it was only an Olympic video, glad she made a different kind. 

 

I give you luck for finding the balance then xD

I guess to me I would worry about tiring myself out, but then again your stamina is higher than mine just based off of your steps.

I would LOVE to have PJ parties where I get together with friends and drink coffee and read books and cuddle in our PJ's!

I'm having a RAWRG week of watching the scale drop back down after the 5 lb overnight "gain" I had from my New Year's indulgences, and getting a crap ton of steps because someone put me in the "workweek hustle" challenge on fitbit and I MUST WIN IT I MUST I NEED THE E-TROPHY WAAAAAAA!

 

I have a ridiculous amount of things scheduled socially for the weekend, most of which I'm trying not to think about so I don't talk myself into reasons not to go do them. Gulp.

 

Friday night is a family birthday dinner for my niece. Not stressful at all, outside of the whole I have to go do things after work instead of putting on PJ's and relaxing, lol.


Saturday morning I am seeing Star Wars: Rogue One with a friend hopefully (waiting for confirmation now that showtimes posted today).  I'm attending a lunch discussion group at Panera (squee Panera yay!) about Pagan parenting.  After lunch, I'm not entirely sure what I will be doing, but I'm trying to connect with friends for dinner and karaoke, or something else similar.  Sunday I am attending a "yay we eloped celebrate with us" wedding reception lunch at an Indian buffet. I have eating Indian food a whopping one time, so that should be interesting.  It's going to be about 20-30 people I haven't seen (most of them) in 2 years.  Pretty nervous about that big of a group gathering.

I've actually told my MIL (via text) that she should come over because I was NOT in pj's. I swear she is not aware that I own any other clothes (except business dress clothes)!

 

At my house, jammies are always an option.

 

Your weekend sounds super fun. I love Indian food (I've already told you this, but no one can hear it enough). Also, your Saturday lunch plans sound really fun!

So, yesterday I left home at 7:15 and got home at 8pm. Loooong day. Fun day, though.  Saw ST: Rogue One at the 9am showtime with a friend. Got done with that just in time to drive over to the Panera for the lunch/discussion group, which was nice. There were three people there that I already know, and two people I didn't know, so I met some new folks who seem nice.  Then I went to the mall to mall walk, because I had been sitting from 7:15am until 3:30pm and I wanted to MOVE, but it was so freakin' cold outside.  After that, I met another friend for dinner, and we played a board game I had never played before, Lords of Waterdeep.  Ended up not staying for karaoke because I was feeling pretty worn out!

 

I'm really torn on the wedding brunch thing today.  On the one hand, I'd like to wish them congrats in person, and try the food. On the other hand, the thought of going into a group of 20-30 people, most of which I haven't seen in 2-2.5 years, terrifies me to the point that I couldn't sleep well last night.  I think I will probably not go, and I will ask them if we can go for a "yay you're married lunch!" or something.  I feel like I'm already failing at my "push to be more social" goal, but maybe it's realistic of me to admit that a big group setting isn't the best way to dive in?  I did ok yesterday with the one on one stuff, and the group of six we had at lunch.

 

Also happy because I finally lost the New Year's bloat weight + the last pound needed to my mini-goal!  So now I start working on another 10 lb chunk.

I built a blanket nest to read/watch movies, and ended up taking a two hour nap.  That is the danger of the blanket nest.  *lol*

 

I ate way too much today, as I always do when I am at home derping around.  I'm still below maintenance though, and I'm getting in my steps, which helps.

Blanket nests are the best - second only to blanket forts full of pillows. But those take more time.

Sounds like you did quite a bit of socializing to me. When I can remember, I find it helpful to realize that socializing is in my control. If I decide not to do a social thing, it's not running away and hiding  - I've just made my own choice to do or not do a thing. (But most of the time, I don't think of that and just panic instead ...). I agree with you on the more vs. less people thing - you can really only interact with a couple of people at a time anyway, right?

mmm sounds nice a toasty :)

At least your getting your steps! Staying under maintenance is hard on weekends when there is food just laying there. I am facing that too.

Hey guys!  Sorry I haven't been here, I got sick. :( Spent Sunday and Monday sleeping, then back to work Tuesday, but I've been basically sleeping most the evenings away. I'm off work today so I can take my mom to a doctor appt (she can't drive after because of meds), so I'm enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee and a bit of NF before I get going for the hospital.

 

My weight has been dumb, I typically stay at my calorie goal, but I guess not creating enough of a deficit or something, I dunno.  It seems like ONE bad meal and my weight jumps up 3 lbs and takes a week to get back to where it was.  Perhaps this is the universe's way of teaching me to stop obsessing about the scale?

 

I also am not meeting all my Week One goals, because sick.   I got maybe 1,000 steps on Monday, since I literally slept the entire day. I have met my step goals the rest of the week (I get a lot of steps at work), but I have not gone to the gym at all.  I'm calling it a smart thing, instead of a failure.

Take it from my experience, your weight will fluctuate a lot, up and down several times. Don't focus on a single number, write it down and start looking for the tendency through time, i can assure you your weight is going down. I have a weight loss chart on my thread because of this, one day does not define, not even a week. You just have to keep doing what you are doing and be patient. Go for it!
