Oh how I love zero week. ZERO WEEK!!!!

ZERO WEEK!!!!!

7TfrgrGl.png

But also, I SUPER love New Years!!! It's weird because I love that it's a milestone that people use as a reset, but hate that this idea only hits some people once a year instead of every single day. So ZERO WEEK with new years??? That's a special combination. I'm going to do this past year some respect by saying I've done fairly well with it, despite the bumps and setbacks along the way. Peace be the journey, and I'll take the bad with the good and keep on moving on :D

So this years New Years was dominated mostly by the ice looge for me... and thanks to the deliciousness that is fireball whiskey, I was out by 10:30, cuddled by some stranger lady apparently, and missed the fireworks, but that's cool. It was a weekend long party with my best friend and a whole mess of awesome folks, some old, some new. I suffered the next day, but sacrifices must be made to the party gods.

And so begins a new challenge, but due to my competition schedule, nothing dramatic will be changing. I only have one thing I absolutely have to do for zero week, and I cannot put it off, I cannot lie with silence and pretend that the time has expired, in fact, it is so important... I'm already done!

What a load off! I guess I can kick back and relax for the rest of the week?

Nooooooo.....

On to the challenge! I like the idea of simplicity for the start of the year. Something attainable and satisfying to give myself a solid win. It's not low hanging fruit, it's long term strategy :P

1. TRAIN TO COMPETE

First powerlifting competition is in 3 weeks. Train as per Lou 3X per week.

Stretching and mobility work on off days - 10-30 minutes

DO NOT DO EXTRAS

Life element: Trust the system.

VJnXLrJt.png

2. CONSUMPTION

First and hardest step, changing weight class, done. (I don't expect it to be a problem based on prior conversations, but if I can't change it, I will be forced to cut a little...)

Assuming that's not the case... FUCK the scale. Eat and drink to maintenance. Track.

When in doubt, take glamour shots or whatever to remember that I'm making progress in a positive way. Quell the stupid head voices.

Life element: reach out when in need. Do not feel weak for needing help. Be honest and raw. Accept vulnerability as the face of strength.

3. STUDY

2 more months before my test voucher expires. Get the cert. Get a new job.

BELIEVE IN MYSELF. 2 hours 4X per week.

Life element: Confidence & kindness. Remember that everyone starts somewhere and I have more experience

than I give myself credit for. Repay the debt, boost people up, and be a positive part of their lives.

ALRIGHT ZERO WEEK! Let's do this.

_______

Refined goals thanks to zero week insight!

So squat day, depth is still giving me trouble on the higher numbers, but I'm getting over the head trip. Truly it's not that much of a struggle, so Lou believes that patience is my issue here. So, I'm going to employ my count-for-calm method and see if that helps ease into the hole. (I took a really awesome video to check depth, it is soooooo informative :P)

Also discussed mobility and flexibility to be doing on off days and I now have a Lou sanctioned game plan. (Lou!)

(Oddly enough, I was so calm after my lift I started to really jive with the car... killed it a good deal less than normal anyway LOL)

T&F

X2 AWC

30 sec 3rd world squat

3X Lunge to Cosack 3easi

5X Birdog easi

Squats

5X 45#

3X 85#

3X 135#

3X155$

2X3 170#

1X2 185#

Goblet Squats

2X10 50#DB

Superset

2X5 30#DB easi

Planks for time

4X 60sec

Hehehe and then my coach and I gathering around the phone after the lift to look... and the bar drops and we're like... OH. craptacular hehehe

Also I'm short, so the regular plates look massive lol I was looking at the racked height today and thinking it was funny that I never feel that short...

_____

OH I didn't mention but the belt was great today. It's super heavy and thick and feels kind of massive, but it was comfortable to lift in and I had no problems. The lever is nice to have and I wish there were blur star dust lever activated knee sleeves :D

Your "IG Rant" last challenge (from below your body recomp. shots) really spoke to me and it was actually what convinced me to create an account and start a challenge of my own instead of watching from the sidelines.  I want this:

Quote

I look forward to the type of work I do every day, and trust the long term sustainability of this kind of process to allow me to follow whims and joyful turns as they come, while continuing to build overall strength and agility on the regular. I haven't been this happy with a routine in however many years, and do some kind of workout every single day. Except for when I don't feel like it, and that's fine too.

Time to start taking steps to attain it!

Thanks for sharing your journey. :)

I can't tell you how happy this makes me. Oh wait, I probably can... THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! And I'm right there with you in terms of motivation (I just spent a week with my parents trying to help them get their health in order... on request! Left me pulling my hair out.) Basically, I don't want to be 70, struggling to move around, on the verge of diabetic, family worried every time they seem me that the next time will be in the hospital...

Anyways, I'm not sure what you know about me, but I'm working towards becoming a personal trainer and I really want to help people find their way and just be a helpful influence in general. I was debating doing a new years rant, but these things are a tad difficult to get out LOL and I'm not convinced that people actually read them let alone are touched by them. Sooooo... thank you for telling me that, I will now start crafting a rant :P Something uplifting for all the people starting their new years resolutions maybe... see about keeping them around for more than a few weeks :D Really, thanks for saying so, it makes me feel less like an idiot ;) And I'm really glad you decided to start up here, it's more fun to do the things with a posse!

Love the challenge, love the belt, love all the things!  I am going to take a page from your book and start taking progress photos.  I always hate them, but maybe it will keep me going when things get tough :D

LOL brain bridge! Comment twins :D Yeah totally, the girls (and maybe a guy or two) totally pushed me into doing it last year when I started lifting and it SUCKED. But then... it got easier, and I didn't really look at them as measurements of myself anymore so much as another brick in a big wall that I was building... hmmm... that sounds a little ominous, but I think the idea is there? :P I snap them and forget them until it's time to look at them all together. And yeah, it's super helpful at times! Worth giving it a go in my experience.
