otterbyte
New year, new challenge! I had so much fun on the last one, that this one is going to be mostly the same, just a little...better. Diet Goals Eat at least 1 fruit AND 1 vegetable each day. This is just a bit more ambitious than last time, where it was one or the other Drink 8 cups of water a day. Again, a bit up from the 6 cups of last challenge. Fitness Goals Kickboxing 3x/week. This stays the same. Physical Therapy 2x/week. I just started this for my new(ish) hip issue and my very old shoulder problem. This is already scheduled. PT exercises 5x/week. On the days I don't go to therapy, I need to do my at-home exercises. Bodyweight 2x/week. Notching this down a bit, because I tried to do too much last time and failed. Life Goals Coding 1/2 hour per day. I need to make this a priority; as in, this gets done each day even if other things have to slide. House decluttering/outstanding projects; 15mins or 1 small project per day. Not gonna wait until spring to do spring cleaning. Okay! Going to keep tracking my coding bricks on Monkey Tamers United, my calories/exercise on Loseit.com, and my bodyweight workouts on my StartBodyweight spreadsheet. 2017, here I come! 11 Quote otterbyte, level 3 chirpy otter assassin STR 3|DEX 2|STA 3|CON 3|WIS 4|CHA 3 current challenges: otterbyte juggles priorities \\ old challenges:4-week: DEC16 * JAN17 * FEB 17 * APR 17 * JAN 18\\ Assassin MiniChallenge: Epic Throwdown Championship * Assassin's Age: Origins \\ Monkey Tamers United Ever tried. Not sure if it was you or another person getting PT. I did well on the fruit or veg. Mostly I just needed to be aware of the fact that I needed to do it. I already tried to do fruit and veg the last week of December, and mostly managed. So I hope I'll be able to expand on that! It was another person with the PT - for myself, I'm going to just keep doing the 'at home' exercises when I graduate from PT. peelout
Sorry, no knowledge relative to PT. I used to have issues w/ pain in the shoulder. Each year I would get a shot cortisone in one or both shoulders and that would take care of it. No idea why it went away. Quote Current Challenge We are what we repeatedly do. But if you have suggestions, I *love* suggestions. I was the one asking about PT. Met with them for the last time today, and they completely encouraged keeping on with exercises and upping weight/resistance. Said as long as you tend toward higher reps/lower weight (so you're not struggling to finish sets and breaking down a lot of muscle at once), there's no reason to stop working out. I would definitely support talking to your therapist about it, and finding movements that incorporate the muscles you need to keep active without overtargeting them. Just my 2 cents! 1 Quote Manarelle the Level 60 Amazon Assassin Challenges: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, Current Link to comment

otterbyte
Is it seriously already Thursday and I'm just now posting an update? It is! Was it maybe because I said, I need to read all the posts before I update and then there were like, a million of them? Yes, yes, it was. You people are prolific! Week 0 Updates Day 0.1 Diet: Fruit + Veg: Yes Water: Yes Fitness: Bodyweight workout with a Fitness Marshall warmup Life: House: New Year's Day! Time to clean out this place. Got a bunch of stuff out of our tiny kitchen and ready to donate. Finished organizing the worst of the cabinets. So much nicer in there now. Code: Yes Day 0.2 Diet: Fruit + Veg: Kinda. Veg, yes. Fruit, no. Water: Yes Fitness: Home kickboxing workout with a Fitness Marshall warmup (can I reiterate how much I looooove Fitness Marshall? Thank you, @Nightshadow, for introducing me to him!) Life: House: Took all the stuff I collected yesterday to donate. Got a new flapper for our wonky toilet (the one I got before didn't work) and installed it. Still hate plumbing. Code: Yes Day 0.3 Diet: Fruit + Veg: Yes Water: Yes Fitness: Kickboxing class! It's back!! Yaaaayyyyowowowowow....I forgot how sore kickboxing class makes me. But still, yay! Life: House: Busy busy day. Today was the first day back from break for my kids' homeschool co-op, where I also teach 2 classes. So we were gone most of the day. House stuff was mostly just of the maintenance sort, but now all the clothes are clean and the dog fur/pine needles are off the floor. For now. This is why I call housework 'the Sisyphean task.' You just gotta keep rolling that rock up that hill, over and over. Code: No. I was running around so much with the co-op and the kickboxing, that by bedtime I just fell over. As in snoring within a minute of hitting the pillow, which never happens normally. So, I guess I was pretty tired! Day 0.4 Diet: Fruit + Veg: Yes Water: Yes Fitness: Fitness Marshall + Bodyweight + PT exercises Life: House: Went to get a mammogram, finally. Before the year ended, I set up appointments for a bunch of stuff I'd been ignoring for years: physical, PT, mammogram, etc. It's not housework, but if our body is a temple, then I guess it's templework. Now I just need to have a routine eye exam and I'm done with my scheduled maintenance! (sure hope I pass inspection this time ) Code: Yes 9 Quote otterbyte, level 3 chirpy otter assassin STR 3|DEX 2|STA 3|CON 3|WIS 4|CHA 3 current challenges: otterbyte juggles priorities \\ old challenges:4-week: DEC16 * JAN17 * FEB 17 * APR 17 * JAN 18\\ Assassin MiniChallenge: Epic Throwdown Championship * Assassin's Age: Origins \\ Monkey Tamers United Ever tried. Asa Pond
I need to find this Fitness Marshall. He sounds fun. Yay for kickboxing and hitting things! And success with cleaning the house (and temple). Those things are so hard to do. I literally told my mother the other day that I will do anything to help her clean her house except for mopping because I can never succeed in actually getting anything clean and it makes me unnecessarily upset. 2 Quote Fallaces sunt rerum species et hominum spes fallunt.
