The 12 Labors of Ryuu1011 Part 2

Challenge #8.5: Jan 2- Feb 4th, 2017

12%2BLabours%2Bof%2BHercules.jpg

Towards the end of the last challenge I lost sight of my goals because of the holidays and although I kind of expected it, I'm not happy about it. Therefore I'll be making another attempt at the 12 Labors of Hercules for this challenge. I've edited my goals slightly because of some recent purchases and additions to my Bat Cave (i.e my fitness arsenal).

Week 0 so Far ( 1/2/16-1/5/17 )

The beginning of a new year. The beginning of a new challenge. The continuation of my goals and the progress that I made last year, and an opportunity to do better to become closer to who I really want to be. No new years resolutions designed to fail, only 12 labors that will help me move in the right direction.

This week has been...rough. Since before the new year I've been running around a lot and not getting very much sleep, so of course I'd wind up getting sick to start this year off >_<. Its really hard to do much when you coughing and sore all over. Even so I've made a solid effort and completed most of what I'd like to have accomplished this week so far in terms of workouts.

Monday- Completed my GB Handstand and Upper Bodywork workout

Tuesday- Completed my GB Handstand and Middle Split Stretch Workouts

Wednesday- Completed my GB Lower body and Front Split Stretch Workouts. In addition I spent about 30-45min outside playing with my new throwing knives (got to be able to throw knives to be a good assassin right?)

Thursday- Completed my GB Thoracic Bridge Stretch Workout

Unfortunately, my meal prepping for the week was been non-existent, but I've been able to eat relatively healthily, and made some snacks for the week too. So overall it been a good, not great, week in terms of nutrition so far. But hopefully this weekend I'll be able to plan out meals and really up for a good week 1 to the challenge.

Thats amazing!! Despite being sick you still completed most of the tasks. I have a tendacy to act like a child when im sick. Example: last summer i got a massive sunburn and spent most of the week in bed not moving at all (i know its not a good plan to do when burned) and i skipped all my daily tasks and when i was better it was a mess at home.

So i applaud you!! Bespite being sick you still accomplished so much and next week will be better. ;)

Thanks :) Yikes, I've been that sun burnt before and it SUUCKKS so I feel your pain :/  I tend to at least try even when I'm sick because a lot of the time I feel better while working out than any other time of the day.

How the flippity-flop were you doing handstand stuff while sick? Hope you get to feeling better and can kick week 1 in the ear.

Hahaha I thought the same when I started trying but it wasn't so bad actually specially since I'm just doing a full tripod headstand an not a full handstand yet for the progression that I'm on so its not awful. That said it is still 4 set of 60 seconds of that hold so it's not exactly easy >_< lol.

The Rest of Week 0, Fri, Sat, and Sun

Friday-

While I had planned to do my GB Handstand and Core workout, as you might have been able to tell from my previous posts, I got a little excited about my throwing knives and ended up having a ton of fun inside before the snow and wintery weather hit (and trapped us inside for the weekend). I ended up spending almost 2.5 hours practicing with my throwing knives. Even then, really the only reason that I ended up stoping was because my cardboard target that I was using ended up getting so beat up that my knives would some times go though all 6 layers without stoping! By the end of my sessions I actually got pretty good a judging most of my throws and could get most throws to stick. If you've never thrown knives before you'll just have to take my word for it but there is something magical about the sound of a good throw and a successful stick. :)

Saturday-

Eastern NC got a lot of freezing rain last night and there was still snow falling for most of the day on Saturday so it ended up being a pretty lazy day. The only real fitness stuff that I did was the makeup Handstand and Core workout that I was suppose to do on Friday.

Sunday-

A relaxing day, I ended up playing Dead Island (a game for my PS4) that my little brother had gotten me for the majority of the day. With just a little cleaning and laundry in between.

Week 0 Review

d424d0a2314d81174c241ee8765e63e6.jpg

There were some successes this first week but also some failures. I completely bombed on my tracking goals and because my GF cooked and we didn't plan much except for that day, my meal prepping goals were not as strong as they could have been for this first week either. So I'm going to try and focus on those for this week and try and get them where I want to be.

For my lbs and BF% goals I'm counting todays weight as my starting weight/ BF% in terms of my goals for this challenge.

Week 1 Day 1- Monday 1/9/17

tumblr_mjz3yzcglc1rjl16lo2_250.gif

Today we had a "snow day"- though it was really more of an ice day. Normally everything in NC shuts down if we get 1/4" of snow but when its ice like this I actually don't make fun of the schools systems. Were I'm at, we mostly got freezing rain and there are just sheets of ice everywhere and I'm thankful I don't have to drive into work today. That said, I did end up getting a ton of 'adulting' accomplished that I had been putting off for a while because of the extra time.

I cleaned the kitchen, living room, and the office, both bathroom, and finished off the laundry. Then cleaned the ice off of my car (since I'll probably have to go to work tomorrow) and did my GB Upperbody, and Handstand workouts. :) Now all I have left on my to-do list is to meal plan/ prep for the rest of the week :D

Maryland got lucky in that we just got a dusting of snow that didn't stick to the sand dunes roads. Could definitely do without the temperature being in the teens though. Grats on the knife-throwing! That's one of those things that I swear I'll pick up when we get a suitable house... in the mysterious lands of "someday." Stay safe and warm...

Thanks! Actually one of the things I like about Knife Throwing is the lack of a whole lot of set up. I just had a ton of cardboard from work that I got to play around with (that one pile only lasted me about 3h of total knife throwing time) but I'll normally just go into the back area of my apt complex and throw them at the bigger trees. They are not the best targets for practicing (especially for judging the distances and the rotations) but when you just want to throw knives and play around like an assassin it's still a ton of fun.

Week 1 Day 2- Tuesday 1/10/17

upsides.gif

Today was a day of mixed successes. We had an optional teacher workday today so I optioned to stay at home XD and ended up spending 80% of the day playing the (new to me) Dead Island game (i'm on a huge zombie kick right now >_<). That said I did manage to do my middle split stretch workout and my handstand workout, which was the only "major" thing I really wanted to do so I'm pleasantly pleased with myself for not spending the entire day gaming (I'm horrible about telling myself " just one more quest" and then realizing its been hours and it is like 3-4am)

My GF and I also Prepped 4 Bison and Chicken Spaghetti Bowls for Dinner/ Lunch so that ended up working out for my meal prepping goals too!

Week 1 Day 3- Wednesday 1/11/17

I had a very good day today! Did a lot of goal setting and making plans for the future, not only for myself but also with my GF. I made my Battle Plans for the upcoming year and sketched out how I'd like the first 1/2 of the year to go. Then my GF and I set some monthly goals and did our budget so that we can afford all the things that we want to do together.

I also completed my GB Lower Body and Front Split Flexibility Workouts :)

I just looked at your plan, that's a lot of awesomeness!

Some of the projects are pretty big, it might be a good idea to divide those into smaller steps. Like creating a workout room. There is probably stuff in that room right now, so step 1 would be to clear it out. Then you might want to paint and/or put something new on the floor. Put your workout equipment in (depending on how much you want to fit in there you might want to draw it to scale and shuffle stuff around on paper before you do it irl), and off course decorate it.

And maybe it's a good idea to prioritize the projects, and make a time table for when you want to do what. What things do you have to get done this year, what stuff would be really nice if you done it, and what stuff can wait until 2018 if you run out of time/energy.

That is one heck of a battle plan. Seems like a lot but if you just keep whittling it down, it's definitely accomplishable. Which spellcheck tells me is not a real word but by gosh, it ought to be. Nice job on keeping disciplined on the day off!

Thanks! Yeah thats what I'm trying to do with the quarter goals (still working on those, especially on getting them more specific) I'm always pretty bad about breaking my goals into more manageable chunks so hopefully by doing the quarters and then the regular challenges I'll be able to do that. Also I love how you broke down the workout room totally stealing that ;D

Week 1 Day 4- Thursday 1/12/17

Continued to have a good strong week today. Had a decent day in terms of nutrition and completed my handstand workout and my bridge stretches. My GF and I also went for a short walk (1m) because it was such a nice day outside today. Then since I'm going to be out of town for the weekend I decided to do my core work that I have scheduled for Friday since I'm 90% sure I wouldn't have been able to do it with the long drive to Atlanta GA that I'm going to be doing as soon as I get off work for my best friends bachelor party.

I also completed a few round of the dice workout for our Doodle Challenge since I've been slacking on helping the Waffles a bit.
