Another challenge, another chance to conquer. 

Let's do this!

I'm super stoked for this challenge!

 

I'll be doing a five-week challenge this time around, but I will be evaluating me quests on a week by week basis and edit, change, swap, or remove any quests as necessary 

 

MAIN QUEST

Land a new job and get fit doing it

 

WEEK 0 QUESTS 

QUEST ONE: badland training (WEEK 0)

alternate between strength training and running in the mornings and do x4 per week

(I'll be using the superhero app from six to start for strength and a C25K app for running)

 

QUEST TWO: saving food rations (WEEK 0)

meal prep breakfast, snacks, and dinners (lunch will be dinner leftovers)

  • find out the family's schedule so meal portions are enough

  • find recipes for meal prepping

  • hunt down the food

  • cook the food

 

QUEST THREE: bunkering down  (WEEK 0)

read a book +30 minutes before bed/ go to bed before 11 pm and wake up early/ get+7 hrs of sleep

 

LEVEL UP YOUR LIFE QUEST: badland bounty hunting (WEEK 0)

sit down after morning routine and send out at least 3 applications

 

WEEK 1 QUESTS

QUEST ONE: badland training (WEEK 1)

Shut off all electronics before 10:30 pm, read a book +30 minutes before bed/ go to bed before 11 pm and wake up early/ get+7 hrs of sleep

sit down after morning routine and send out at least 3 applications

posting for a daily check in. 

 

I accomplished a lot today 

  • deposited graduation money into savings (I don't like carrying around cash)
  • Tried to renew my driver's license (but I need to get an inspection first)
  • Returned some items I didn't need to buy in the first place (mo money for mo necessities)
  • cleaned out my email and got inbox down to zero
  • sent out 5 job applications

  • woke up late 
  • too tired to workout
  • didn't eat breakfast
  • ate a bad lunch of a PBJ sandwich with milk 
  • binge eating cookie dough
  • eating leftover cookies found in the house
  • not drinking enough water

Cleaning out my email gave me some mild anxiety today. I found some old emails from weeks ago that I had put on the back burner and forgotten about. After checking them I had missed my opportunity to 1) sign up for a 5k, 2) go to orientation to learn about graduate programs, and 3) free VITA program deadlines that taught you how to do taxes. It reminds me of that one Sylvia Plath poem.

workout in the morning x4 per week

 

QUEST TWO: saving food rations (WEEK1)

The family is having some crazy scheduling this week with my dad going out of town every other day for training, my stepmom wanting to go eat out with him every evening he gets back from out of town, and my sister having club meetings scheduled in the evenings. I am making shredded chicken tacos from the leftover broiled chicken that was made tonight. 

I'll have to go out and get those breakfast necessities since I'm fresh out.

On the bright side, I got one of my quests done. I've still got six more days to complete quest one so I'll count this time as my off day.

It looks like those are all connected. You where tired, so you woke up late, that made you skip breakfast leaving you extremely hungry so you made less than ideal food choices.

When you find yourself in such a situation again try to take a step back and find out what you really need a that moment. Maybe cancel an appointment, or postpone a not so important taks so that you can take care of yourself first. That way the rest of your day will still be awesome <3

It's funny how one bad habit can lead to a slippery slope. 

 

Thanks for the insight. It's not that I have a lot planned, it's jutt that I've been feeling overwhelmed as of late because of the unsuccessful job hunting and my dad asking for a quota of sending out six applications at the end of the day. I ended up sending applications to some companies I didn't know to well to meet that quota. However, there is one company for the city I'm actually interested in and at this point, I'm more focused in getting any job with them just to get in with them then trying for jobs that pay well, but I may not be suited for. 

 

Another reason I've been binge eating sweets it because I'm not getting enough of a calorie intake. That comes with the poor sleep schedule, unintentional intermediate fasting, and two meals a day. 

 

If I start to get like that again I'll take a step back, see what is really needed, and maybe do some awesome meditation on it.

I really liked the work of Sylvia Plath growing up. Whenever I think about this poem from zen pencil, I can always relate to it.

DAY 002 report

 

I feel so accomplished today. 

I got up on time. I worked out. I prepped like crazy for a career fair. I met with the representative for city company I want to work for. 

 

 QUEST ONE: badland training (WEEK1)

Did 30 minutes of strength training using the superhero app from six to start and completely soaked through a shirt of mine. 

 

QUEST TWO: saving food rations (WEEK1)

I still haven't done any batch cooking. I still need to buy those breakfast food essentials and some more snacks. 

 

Glad I don't have a calorie quest in place because (due to a lot of miscommunication between my dad) I ended up eating out with my grandfather and a fast food place. The meal ended up being half of my daily calories for the day and I went over my limit by about 300 calories. 

 

QUEST THREE: bunkering down  (WEEK1)

I got carried away cleaning up my closet and finding things I didn't need but could sell online. I then got further distracted by posting here. Oops

Whooohoo, that's awesome! How did the meeting go?

If that is your core interest anyway, it might not be that bad that you forgot the other applications and focused on staying in good touch with this one rather

The meeting went great, the recruiter complimented my resume since it's an eye-catching executive style. I received an email this morning in response to the thank you I sent them yesterday. I'll be sending more applications their way. :adoration:

 

Working as a project managers assistant/ HR assistant during my summer internship I had to go through a lot of resumes and applications those wanting to either work for or volunteer for the nonprofit. My eye always caught those that were frequent in sending applications for several positions. I'm sure with enough persistence, it will be hard for those in HR not to notice me. :angel:

DAY 003 report

 

All the extra time between work and job hunting makes me uncomfortable.

Even though it's only been three days since the start of this challenge, the time feels more like a week.

  QUEST ONE: badland training (WEEK1)

Did 30 minutes of C25K on the treadmill this morning. 

I also walked the wing pup this evening for 26 minutes and hopped back on to the treadmill in the evening to make up my Fitbit step count. 

Someone put me in a work week hustle step challenge and I don't want to disappoint.

QUEST TWO: saving food rations (WEEK1)

I really need to change this quest. Everyone's schedules are changing too sporadically. 

I've got the essentials to meal prep for breakfast. All I need is a cheap food scale and I can properly prep for snacks. 

I'll switch next weeks challenge to "operation unprocessed" that Rising Heroes did. I've been snacking on a lot of carbs and my system is not taking kindly to it.

My family family, particularly my stepmom, have gotten into the habit of making plans at the last second.

I'm glad I didn't pre plan dinners for the week. I learned that everyone is doing a family outing and needs to be ready in less than two hours time before the event starts. If I would have made dinner ahead of time a lot of food would have gone uneaten today and thrown out.

Could you just batch cook less servings?  For instance, if you batch cook enough for only 2 nights of the week.  Is everyone likely to be home at least 2 nights of the week that the batched food would get eaten?

Could you just batch cook less servings?  For instance, if you batch cook enough for only 2 nights of the week.  Is everyone likely to be home at least 2 nights of the week that the batched food would get eaten?

I could do that. I sort of did that this week. I cooked more chicken last week than was needed and shredded the leftovers. I threw some taco seasoning on it and added Taco Bell sauce, grated cheese, avocados, and faux sour cream (plain Greek yogurt) on the side last night.

I've had this idea that meal prepping or batch cooking was having everything made before hand and simply grabbing the Tupperware in the microwave when needed for eating.

Then if the standard of meal prepping was the main ingredient was made beforehand then I've checked this quest off a long time ago.

I've done both of these.  I think it depends on how much work is required to assemble the actual meal if you've only got the main bits done.  It still helps guarantee you'll eat what you planned and not get last minute junk.   I do prefer having the entire meal ready and in a single container.  The beauty of it is that everyone can be on a different schedule and still have the same meal.  And, as long as you don't batch cook something for every day of the week, those things that come up won't cause you to have wasted food.

I've done both of these.  I think it depends on how much work is required to assemble the actual meal if you've only got the main bits done.  It still helps guarantee you'll eat what you planned and not get last minute junk.   I do prefer having the entire meal ready and in a single container.  The beauty of it is that everyone can be on a different schedule and still have the same meal.  And, as long as you don't batch cook something for every day of the week, those things that come up won't cause you to have wasted food.

Same here. I batch cooked/ prepped my breakfasts for the rest of the week. I'm cooking and shredding chicken tomorrow to be used for different meals. I'll have to measure the ounces of meat I use if I'm going to prep more for x amount of people.
