Holduptheworld
Hi there! So this is my first challenge and I have no idea what I'm doing. I guess I should share a little about myself, I am a 22 your old who has frankly no idea what to do with my life. Currently I am a receptionist at a vet clinic but that may change in the near future. I have two dogs, an 8 month old German Shepherd and an almost 2 year old Lab mix. Between work, dogs and my relationship, I have almost no time to do much besides eat and sleep. My boyfriend is also on here somewhere and absolutely loves it, so he keeps trying to convince me to post a challenge. Here goes nothing. Here are some new goals for the next few weeks. Goals: 1. Stay on my diet and keep to my calorie budget I've been using the Lose It app and it seems to be working pretty well when I actually follow the budget it gives me 2. Exercise 2-3 times a week. I've started Pole Fitness and it is AMAZING! I go twice a week. Also need to run and work on my 5k training at least once a week. 3. Take my dogs hiking or to the park at least once a week I have high energy dogs and they DEFINITELY need to get out more than they do 4. Find time for myself. Work on my puzzle, be girly and treat myself, maybe play some skyrim (hint hint to the bf ) If anybody has some helpful tips to this newbie, then feel free to share! Also: Had to share the cuteness that is my pups: 7 Quote Link to comment

Heyyy Welcome to your first challenge! You're on the right track keeping things simple, just go do the things and the things will be yours! Some people like to use different grading systems to keep track of their progress (I don't) or spreadsheets (not me ) and sometimes incentives or rewards for doing the thing (eh, sometimes I do that one), but the important thing is that it's something that works for you and helps you achieve your goals!! 1 hour ago, Holduptheworld said: Also: Had to share the cuteness that is my pups: Thank you. Holduptheworld
Thank you. I am grateful for that moment of adorbs [emoji3] GOOD LUCK! Thanks! I have incentives for monthly goals and my overall goal but I'm not overly motivated by them. My biggest struggle is trying to find something or some way to keep myself motivated. Jonesy
I second what @RedStone suggested with grading. Also, since you are just starting your challenges, it's helpful to keep track of PRs (personal records) so it's easy to see how you are doing. ex - mile pace. Lovely challenge for your first one and adorable fur babies! My fur baby waves hello, although it's more of a shake/high five. I'm vaguely keeping track of things like that and I'm taking progress pictures to help see a change at the end of every month. I do notice that I am slowly doing better in my pole class and I've been slacking on the running. It's not my favorite and I get bad shin splints. 2 Quote Link to comment

I've noticed a lack of shin splints, knee issues and arch/heel pain when I get new running shoes and inserts. I got compression sleeves which are supposed to help and I think they did for a minute but now they don't seem to make a difference at all. I haven't tried inserts yet either. I'm too cheap to go buy new shoes and inserts just yet lol. Quote Link to comment

Lol I just got a new pair last week and I won't pay the big bucks for specialty inserts, just doing the roadrunner shoe dog thing. Edit : I just noticed this is in the old challenge forums. You might want to have @Anim07734 see if he can move it over to the Feb. 12 challenge forum. 1 Quote Fitocracy GoodReads MyFitnessPal Spoiler Previous Challenges: 2020: 1.20 - 2019: 1.19 l 2.19 2018: 1.18 l 2.18 l 3.18 l 4.18 l 5.18 l 6.18 l 7.18 2017: 1.17 I 2.17 I 3.17 I 4.17 I 5.17 l 6.17 l 7.17 l 8.17 I 9.17 l 10.17 2016: 1.16 l 2.16 l DA v.1 l DA v.2 I DA v.2 Reloaded I DA v.3 I DA v.4 I 8.16 I 9.16 I DA v.5 I 11.16 2012: 1 2013: 2 l 3 l 4 l 5 l 6 l 7 l 8 2014: 9 l 10 l Not Done Yet l Time to Conquer l Conquering HFC for Life! Anim07734
Moved to the new challenge forum. Welcome aboard! Also, on the topic of running shoes, have you tried barefoot running yet? It's not for everyone, but it fixed all of my recurring knee and ankle issues (once I built up my calf muscles to adapt). Plus my running shoes now last years instead of months. If it's something you're interested in, I recommend getting a pair of watershoes first. They'll only last you a summer, but that's plenty of time to decide if it's worth pursuing and you're only out ~10$ if it's not for you. 2 Quote Anim07734; God of Death in Training Tiefling Assassin and Artificer Maxim 70: Failure is not an option. I have tried it, and I find that I need more arch support to run comfortably. But does it help to just push through at first? and Thanks for moving it to the correct challenge forum! I'll pay better attention next time. Quote Link to comment
