Nope. Thought about it, but worked a bunch.

Me getting side-eye gifs ready like:

I don't think you even owe the interview people an email, it sounds like toxic on top of toxic.

@Tanktimus the Encourager: Lols. I just may need them - Tuesday is my drop dead date for the gym and it looks like it's going to be a photo finish.

I have not emailed Mr. Jerkface back .

Yesterday

Goal 1: Work Out

Does hauling groceries home count? It was not a mile.

Was home alone all day - cleaned/organized, checked out the scary grocery store a couple blocks away, marveled at the 1/8 cow portions available, then batch cooked everything I had ingredients for and nerded out wit BBC history documentaries.

Goal 2: Macros

Breakfast: 2 eggs in butter with the last of the broccolini & half an avocado

Lunch: 3 hot Italian sausage links with mustard

Dinner: ummmmm .... 1/2 a snack sized bag of Quest chips (they're ok but not worth the price on Amazon), 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce, a spoon of the whipped cream/jello snack I made, a spoon full of the sesame cookie batter.

Goal 3: Get A Job

Did 2 daily CSS challenges and now I'm only 2 behind going into this week.

Goal 4: Minimize

Cleaned and moved some stuff around - made room for the new printer I ordered.

Yesterday

Goal 1: Work Out

Bwahahaha. No.

Goal 2: Macros

Mmmmmmm

Breakfast: Keto AF 1/2 an avocado + 2 eggs fried in butter with coffee

Lunch: A sleeve of chili lime peanuts at the movies - which I had to leave the theater and visit a bodega to procure so I wouldn't eat popcorn or nachos because I was hungry and the DH wanted junk. I am quite thrilled with this progress. Usually, in this situation I would get a kids pack thing - yesterday, it never crossed my mind.

Dinner: Keto AF Outback. Had a 6 ounce sirloin + lobster tail + steamed broccoli with the clairified butter poured over everything and the last few bites of steak dipped in butter when I ran out. Also had 3/4 of a glass of wine - and damn, their alcohol portions are huge.

Snack: 1/2 of this whipped cream/sugar free lemon hello concoction I made

Also on the food front: finished grocery shopping and will now be fine if we get a blizzard on Tuesday. Instant Potted some barbacoa which I'm afraid turned out dry and I have no idea what went wrong. Hopefully it's still edible - I have 3 lbs.

And I made sesame cookies for snacks.

Going into this week I have:

Leftover Thai pork bowl

A little Mexican style ground beef

Bacon

Eggs

Avocados

Some cooked up hot Italian sausages

Barbacoa & low carb tortillas for tacos

Broccoli slaw for barbacoa

A cauliflower to mash for another night of barbacoa

Chicken & fixings to make a cauliflower cheese casserole

Extra chicken that needs to be cooked or frozen today

Goal 3: Get A Job

Weeeeeekend

Goal 4: Minimize

No work here - but we got a new printer in and set it up. I am still not happy we have to have a printer in the first place, but am thrilled that you now can't see it.

Cycle 34 Wrapup

Not the best; not the worst.

I have made zero headway with working out, but at least kept my (sorry little) schedule until the move.

I will be getting back to some damn thing this week.

Macros were a disaster during move week and I payed the price, eating enough garbage for long enough that I remembered what I used to feel like after meals. Totally forgot that pain after meals was my normal.

Pulled out of the nosedive and am back to balanced Keto. Knock on wood, but I've actually *not* been relying on Quest bars this week, and it's felt good.

Still unemployed, but have a sliver of hope that I'll IA again, an interview today, have almost caught up on my daily CSS exercises, have identified a new passion project to work on with a friend, and have kept up with my application submissions.

I feel like with this move we are hemorrhaging money, but the expenses will stabilize and we are still in a better boat than we were. Even with things like a new printer and room divider curtains.

And I've also kept up with the dreaded copywriting and have even managed to put my foot down and refuse to participate in the crazy vortex that is my old boss. Go, me.

Going forward, my goals are once again staying similar - I feel like my life is far from stable (it totally is, I just don't do well without a rigid schedule), so I'm going to *not* add a ton of shit to my plate. I will, however, be forcing myself into activity at least 2 week days (+weekends when it thaws), be keeping up with Keto, continue working to get an adequate paycheck, and continue forcing myself out of my comfort zone.

Plus: my anniversary is coming up soon and we should probably mark the occasion. And then there's this Summer wedding I'm excited to travel down South for ... and this thing in DC in the fall I'm excited to travel to (and possibly participate in).

Somewhere in there I should consider going "home" (one of them) to visit.

And I haven't seen my munchkins in over a year. I'd like to squeeze them.

New thread coming in the next day or so.

Yesterday because I'm too lazy to type out my challenge whilst on my phone.

Goal 1: Work Out

Nope. Long day.

Goal 2: Macros

Meh???

Breakfast was great: no-atmeal with a hand full of mixed berries & coffee

Snack: Extra coffee made into a shaker drink of excitement for the ferry ride

Lunch was tasty: Chinese delivery - egg drop soup, shrimp with broccoli & a barely there garlic sauce. I did have my fortune cookie, but had zero rice or wontons or egg roll.

Had half a cayenne, apple & pineapple juice while at a job interview.

Dinner: Barbacoa taco with low carb tortilla and sour cream

Snack: Chili like peanuts

Snack: Hand full of pork rinds

Goal 3: Get A Job

Met with the free company and it looks like I'll be going to a conference in DC next Friday/Saturday. And I'll be taking the bus. Whoo.

It will be a good networking opportunity for the business - and the founder wants to see if he can get me into a few talks since they're "my people" (aka tech people) which would be cool. He wants me to meet other tech people and be able to build that network. There will also be company-sponsored parties to go to and network at, and the exhibit hall will be open for a few hours.

It kind of feels like progress and I'm excited to meet more tech people to grow that network - less excited about being on a bus for 4 hours with the dude who drives me insane. And then an Air B&B. And a bus again. In the span of 2 days.

I'm bringing my big can headphones and a hoodie.

Also met with someone from a kind of dev shop but more involved firm - he may need some freelance UI/UX/Front End/Marketing work soon and he really likes my aesthetic.

Suck it, Indian negging dude.

That meeting went well - we got along great, the company seems interesting, and I'd like to work with them. Also: freelancing isn't the worst thing.

This is all I got accomplished - got home just in time to make the batch cooked dinner I needed to make and feed myself a burrito.

Goal 4: Minimize

Zero work done on the apartment aside from keeping the kitchen clean, which I feel was a Herculean task because I had zero fucks to give but also didn't want judgement and side eye from the DH. So I cleaned.

Didn't wanna.

And something I took with the intention of sharing:

8fc2396ec2eecc912ede04a802b2c1e2.jpg

Thought i was looking kind of cool and hip today with my grownup brown booties, black ankle length pants, grey tissue tee I usually wear as pajamas, modern cut blazer and artsy jewelry (the necklace is made from textile and the bracelet is cording fastened with a nautical thingie).

And jazzy purple lip gloss, because that's the pocket gloss for the oversized sleeping bag I was wearing to combat the arctic wind doing its best to scour the city.

Awkward phone case selfie is awkward.

Just remember, you asked for side eye if no workout video posted today, you are not yet out of the side eye woods.

Great selfie!

I WENT!!!

And I need halp, oh Warrior and lifty friends. Is there anything I can do with this conglomeration of machinery and other stuffs?

I did not think the barbells could be removed from the bench press thing, but the DH assures me they can, so there is that.

Also: why in the F is the pull-up thing so high? I can reach it if I drag the bench over, but that's it. I can't even jump that high.

Previous video was *supposed* to headline my new thread, but I'm still lazy.

Yesterday

Goal 1: Work Out

Visited the gym, picked up some kettelbells. Played with a machine that was kinda row-y? Tried not to throw myself off a bosu ball.

Goal 2: Macros

Was going great ... until I had second dinner.

Breakfast: No-atmeal & coffee

Lunch: The last of the Thai pork bowl

Dinner: Cauliflower Cheese chicken bacon casserole

Second Dinner: Went to 'Stump the Chef' in my building - it's a monthly Chopped-like deal where you bring an ingredient and try to stump the chef as he prepares a meal. I brought unsweetened applesauce and tomato paste. We had a ground beef and Brie stuffed ravioli with Pork shoulder, roasted broccoli & a pear bacon sauce for the main and a carrot ice cream & lentil pistachio fritter with blackberry jam sauce for dessert.

It was all fantastic, I got to talk to food nerds, I met my neighbors, and I learned a lot about SI history.

Definitely not Keto, but totally worth blowing my diet once a month for the experience.

Goal 3: Get A Job

Copywriting & 2 CSS drawing prompts happened.

Goal 4: Minimize

We're good here.

Side eye averted :)

Yes, you can do bodyweight rows on the smith machine and not much else. Ignore those machines on the second floor. The deal with the pullup bar is all cable stuff, you can develop a workout with that. You have space on the floor where the bench press is, which means you can deadlift. As to whether or not the building wants you to deadlift, you need to check with them, but there is space, just take the barbell off the bench and set it on the open spot in the floor. There is no squat rack, which often happens in places like that. It's a result of 1) trying to copy globo gyms, 2) the person ordering doesn't know anything about fitness and just grabs stuff off of a catalog, 3) Some lawyer/insurance person says don't have a squat rack, get a smith machine for less liability. Or some combination of the three.

@EricMN: I'm thinking about what might actually work to get my ass back in the gym consistently.

What I enjoy:

  • Kettelbells
  • Workouts capped at 30 minutes
  • Yoga (specifically power yoga)
  • Medicine balls are kind of fun
  • Barre is murderous but fun
  • Pilates is torture but fun
  • Having some sort of program to follow that involves doing something different - or at least things in a different order - 3 - 5x a week
  • Other short little novel things to supplement (sometimes)
  • Rucking
  • Other rucking?
  • Rows
  • OCR stuff minus the burpees and that stupid thing with the rocks in the huge bucket

What I'm intrigued by, want to work on or want to try:

  • Deadlifts with a barbell
  • Rings
  • Handstands
  • Rowing
  • Primal movement
  • Yoga inversions and flys
  • Pull-ups
  • Battle ropes

Things that are the devil but I know are good for me:

  • Burpees - I know they're good for me, but they make me dizzy.
  • Crab walks - I used to be so good at these ... now I get lost.
  • Moving rapidly - running can mostly suck it unless there's a medal and a beer at the end.
  • Moving rapidly on uneven sources - trail running can definitely suck it. My ankles, hip flexors, knees and rest of my hips haaaaaate trail running.
  • Squats (they're not the devil per se, but that damn left hip is still ready to immediately get jacked up).
  • Things that are going to require me to land on my left wrist quickly (it's back to being cranky most days - it was fine when I was training hard as long as I was careful).
  • I also kind of hate push-ups and think I've gotten worse at them over the years; not sold on the 'good for me' part. Call them a chataranga, and I'm fine with them. Call them dolphin, and I'm marginally okay with them. Call them straight-up pushups, and my elbows forget what to do and my wrist suddenly hurtsrealbad.
  • Tricep kick-backs and anything involving lifting my arms out wing-like with weight - my triceps suck and I have to be really careful with the other movement. My left shoulder is teh suck and I have zero shoulder strength. Obvs somewhere I need improvement - but smartly.
  • Lunges. They're the devil and I've injured my knees and hip flexors with these more times than I can count.
  • Side planks. These kind of legit hurt my wrist. Sometimes I'm great and can even get a baby toe lock - some days I collapse in 5 seconds and spend the rest of the time stretching my wrists real good.

Things I'm learning from completing this list:

  • I'm whiny and frail and most of this shit is in my head.
  • I do have legit weaknesses and injuries (my left side and l5 lumbar spine), but I know I tend to let those weaknesses freak me out and prevent me from doing things i need to do or enjoy doing. That, or I go HAM for months in search of medal booty and injure the poo out of myself.

The new place is 80% complete! Got the desk area set up - we need to hang pics and the bed nook curtain & find a nightstand solution.

Since you don't have much(any) floor space, what about a floating shelf (I think that's what they're called) ?

Got 2.5 hours of copywriting in and didn't succumb to old boss' shit - got an email Monday afternoon about needing copy for the back page of the catalog --- hope you can get to this soon, boss lady wants to send the catalog off today --- normally, I'd drop what I'm doing, pull off the sidewalk and write it on the spot.

Instead, i did not change my plans for the day -- I got an email about it Tuesday morning, replied that I can't drop everything on a dime, and that I wouldn't be getting to it until the afternoon. Which I did. And I'm sure it's fine.

Nice job keeping your boundaries!

Also: why in the F is the pull-up thing so high? I can reach it if I drag the bench over, but that's it. I can't even jump that high.

They're always so high, it's so annoying. I've used the bench before to get high enough, or piled up some plates + a dumbell standing on one end (OHSA would probably freak out if they saw some of the things I do to reach things..)
