Hey, look, a thread.  I have no clue what I will do for a challenge or if I will even do a formal challenge... I am still feeling kinda blah and not really going online much, so I apologize to all my NF buddies, that I have not been good at cheering you on.   I would promise to get better, but I am not sure I will during this challenge.   I am really tired, and I might take this month to just kinda... be in a holding pattern.  Dunno yet. I have some goal ideas, but then I think about them and just feel so tired.

I did make a challenge, and edited link into my first post.

 

Yesterday I took the first "true" all out cheat day I've taken in 14 months and ate anything and everything I wanted.  

 

Never. Again.

 

I have been so sick today. It was totally not worth it.  I will continue to just allow myself sporadic, budgeted for treats.  Ugh.

It totally sucks to feel that horrible after a sweet sweet binge day, but isn't it also awesome? If you felt awesome it would make more full on bad food days tempting and that will derail even the best of us. Better to find out it all makes you feel like crap and avoid the temptation to do it again :)

 

I'm just now starting to dislike chocolate bars and chips for how they make me feel :) I'm a bit jealous that I'm not quite at your level yet [emoji14]

It is life changing when you can look at foods that you used to binge on and be like, "no, the way that will make me feel isn't worth it."

Leigh & Sylvaa, yes, that is super true!  I had that conversation with someone at work today, and its like, while I hate how horribly sick I got, at least it's a good deterrent the next time I get my daydreams about eating how I used to. Now I have a memory to counter that daydream with!

This week started off really rough - I got a super bad stomach bug!  Since I'm so smart (haha) I didn't miss any work, but nothing else happened in terms of exercise outside of work.  Thankfully I am over it now!  Work is still insane, but OT pay is good, so I am trying to look at the positives!  This weekend I'm going to a gaming night on Saturday (I have to work 5am-10am, yuck), and hiking Sunday! 

 

Depression and anxiety are still cray cray bad, so I've been doing a lot of curl up in my blankets instead of being online.   Hopefully that changes soon!

Well, I updated my spreadsheet for week two, but aside from hitting my step goals due to work, and adding a bit to the cooking goal, I basically noped right out of this challenge this week. This week has been focused on taking care of my mental state which has been extremely bad, and while I know logically exercise and such does help that, I just couldn't make the challenge a priority.  We'll see how next week goes.

Weighed in at 157.6 today, so I lost a whopping 0.8 lbs in Feb.... hey, I didn't gain, so I'm gonna call it a win.  Today is leftover birthday cake day, and then here is my plan the rest of the month.
 
1. Hit my daily step goals
2. Popcorn only 2x a week max (I'd gotten back to 3-4x a week in Feb)
3. No baked goods other than birthday cake (my leftover today, sister's, Mom's), and today's paczki
4. Goal - lose 6 lbs - a little more aggressive to make up for my February fail
 

I'm also going to work on doing more engaging hobbies than just watching movies, which is basically how I spent February.  While I watched a lot of cool stuff, when I watch movies it's way too easy to snack. I'm going to see about reading more, playing video games, doing more active play with Alex, basically anything that isn't as easy to mindlessly eat.  When I do watch movies, I'm gonna try to combine it with some exercise.

 

I realize these seem like really baby step goals, but they are going to be a big challenge for me. My eating has been out of control, and I'm probably going to be a super crabby person for a couple weeks as my body readjusts to eating better, and not eating a crap ton of cookies/donuts/muffins/etc.

 

I haven't totally given up on my challenge goals, but exercise isn't really a key focus for me right now.  I am still working towards the other three goals.

It absolutely will, Skywalker!  I know that weight loss is mostly from how I eat, not if I exercise (though exercise is never bad, to be sure) - so stopping the parade of "oh, I had a bad day, I'll have a donut" or "oh it's Saturday let's have pizza" or "hey I had a great day, celebrate with cupcakes" will help me get back on track so much.

I got sick last week.  I took this as license to eat out way too many times, and not exercise (outside of work).  It wasn't too bad til the weekend when I decided to not only eat out but get horrible sodium laden stuff, and then Sunday night I had the dumbest binge I've ever had. I wasn't even binging on good food. I had some of my mom's gross prepackaged brownies, I ate four - FOUR!! - white hamburger buns with butter, I ate a bunch of raisins, string cheese, basically just kept going and finding more. I wasn't even hungry, it didn't even taste good, I just ate and ate and ate and ate until I felt sick. Was up almost all night with an upset stomach.

 

So Monday rolls around (yesterday, it feels like so much longer ago) and I ate barely anything until after work, because my plan was "I should eat as little as possible to make up for Sunday", smart plan huh? Nope.  I finished the day around 1600 calories so not too bad. The only "bad" thing I did do was eat another fucking buttered bun.   I'm not sure why bread/buns with butter has been my crack lately but it is.   Today I'm currently sitting around 1325 and I'm hemming and hawwing between "I should eat low calorie like this, I've been eating like shit, I need to get on track" and "Wow that is low calorie for my active day, I can totes eat MOAR".

 

My challenge is kinda ehh... I'm mostly hitting my step goal (missed over the weekend, but seeing as how I literally spent most the weekend in bed, that's fine), I'm behind on cooking but I'm making progress each week so yay, I hit my reading goal last week and I might this week, and I'm not even trying on the workouts anymore.  At this point I'm still planning to call the challenge a success, just because I did continue to try and do most of it despite all the issues I had this month (massive depression downswing, stupid case of the winter crud/cold thing, etc).

I'm of the mindset that it's healthier to forget the binge day rather than trying to compensate for it by eating less going forward. This leads to this mindset that you need to punish yourself and you end up in this spiral of emotional eating. 

 

I know I'm new to hanging around the adventurers but my background is having lost 115+ pounds slowly over many years and working on losing the last little bit but mostly switched to working on strength at this point. . It looks like from your signature line that you have a similar background of having lost a significant amount of weight.

 

So I believe you know to give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for how far you have come and don't worry too much about Sunday. Today is a new day!
