Lucky fire dragon sparkles up

it's time to

Wake up

start the day with 6 rounds of sun salutations each side and

a new set of sparkling daily 10

I've been doing a daily mini workout of 10 assisted chin ups, 10 leg lifts from hanging, 10 push ups and 10 weighted goblet squats for 7 weeks in a row now and it's been really helpful in building strength and staying in the habit of braving workouts. However it is beginning to be a bit dull - not boring, mind you I still struggle :P - just doing the same thing day in day out, so this month I'm challenging myself to a new version:

10 assisted chin ups

10 assisted pull ups

10 straddle lifts and

10 crunches

all on my aerial hoop

start off videos behind spoiler here:

Spoiler

Show up

go to the classes I booked:

1x yoga / week

1x pole / week

train 1x pole / week at home

this is the minimum I have to keep going, but until that is going easy again it's no point upping the goal. It continues as is from last challenge. Will try to share some video snippets from home training for extra accountability

Clean up

another goal to continue from last challenge is my Email Ninja - clean up my email inbox every day

adding some house sparkle to this goal - shine up the bathroom basin every day

With life offering so many adventures and things, I often struggle to keep some balance in splitting my time and energy equally enough. For instance if I focus on a fitness goal that excites me, often work gets neglected or household and if I catch up on work sometimes the family comes short and/or I move too little. Right now I am still strengthening some good work habits and doing quite okay on my fitness (woot woot) while still having an eye on the kids needs (woot woot) but sometimes don't even want to look at our house because it feels every single room needs decluttering, a thorough dusting, window cleaning,.... oooof

So instead of burying my head in the sand, I'll take a page out of the FlyLady's book (thanks to @otterbyte for the introduction) and pick one self care thing to do daily and build onto that. The bathroom basin is what greets us all in the morning and what we all face before going to bed. Me thinks if that one thing is sparkling it'll make a big difference already :)

Now you must think my house is a pig sty and well, it's not totally of course, but you really mustn't look closely at the moment and I want to get back to a state where you can.

Tune up

Last goal is a music goal :cheerful:

I really dusted off my patient, poor old harp and got a few new strings to replace broken ones, so now it's time to keep tuning it and getting my fingers nimble again so that music might fill the house with sparkling vibration

I am super grateful for the harp being one of those forgiving instruments that sound nice even if you just play the most simple things. It's hard to play really well the same as any other instrument, but it's rewarding even when you don't yet ^_^

Goal is to spend 90 min / week practising on my harp, ideally more, but I want to start with small steps for now

Collect all the sparkles

Last last goal ;) I nearly forgot and that is actually the whole point with this one: I keep forgetting how good simple things like walks and water are for me. So I'll add them here still to make sure I don't... hope it works :P

Goal is to walk 70 000 steps / week (and I will only manage that by going for walks several times, so there)

and to drink 2 Liters of water minimum every day, 2,5 Liters on workout days

That's all  It looks a lot, listed up like this, but it should be easily doable with a bit of determination and consistency, so please don't let me wiggle out when I feel lazy. I know these are all points important to me and I WILL feel so much better for each time I did them.

There are actually some more things still, that I would have been very tempted to add - my mind was whirring on high speed again this zero week, struggling to zero in on anything, but rather zapping from various ideas to even more...  which is why it took me so long to finally set up this challenge. But now it's up, and it is only four weeks, so it's not like the big life decision my mind made it out to be this week (really don't know why it loves doing that, maybe it makes me feel important :P ) So I'll stop rambling now and get at it :)

Best of fun, everyone :cheerful: Let's have a great challenge!

You have an aerial hoop???!!! Oooooh, this makes me feel so envious!

How do you do to avoid getting dizzy?

How did you fix it to the roof? Is it safe?

I'm feeling exactly the same.

Worst than ever, our old cat has decided that from now on he will pee once a day outside his box. Sometimes he does it when we are home and we can clean it immediately, but sometimes he does it when we are at work, and being received by the ammonia smell at night is delightful. This started one month ago, and adds to the usual workload. I'm not happy.

It's a lot of time to begin with, but anyway, will we be having lovely harp videos too?

I know, I am terribly spoiled ^_^ My theme for this year will actually be to appreciate all the wonderful things I have already and use them more again.

It's funny I don't really get dizzy on there so much, probably because I am super cautious and slow still :P

But on the spinning pole I get dizzy in no time at all! Don't know ...

I do find that when I practice the spinning pole a bit more, it does get better, so I guess that is the way to go

My brother in law is a really good handyman and a rock climber, who loves building things, so he helped me ^_^

He put a fixture in my ceiling that's super steardy and then attached a thing that allows the hoop to turn in any direction for as much as I want, so yes it is safe. He made sure it would be. Very blessed to have him. Even though he now teases me of course, asking if I am wearing "his ring" yet :P

Oh no, that is not good!! Do you think it has to do with spring time and him wanting to mark territory? Or is he grouchy about something? Wish I could help, but our cats are only 3 years old and I am no experienced cat person at all, sorry. Sending you some minions to help

We don't know what has changed. He keeps his same old routines, eats well, asks for cuddles, he's just as spoiled as he always has been. And it is not a territorial thing because he was neutered many many years ago, long before we met. He has never done this before.

An old lady recommended using mint to avoid the smell of the feromones staying (it's what leads him to repeat and repeat), I hope it works because vinegar, baking soda and lemon have failed until now.

So many sparkles! Happy to have another Flybaby on this journey...it's hard for me to go back to the beginning, but I know if I try to do too much at once I'll crash and burn. Good plan starting with the bathroom sink; it's so nice to start and end the day at a clean sink! Makes you feel like you're at a fancy hotel! A tip: if you keep teeth stuff/creams/potions/unguents on the sink counter, get a pretty plate or basket (waterproof, of course) and keep all that stuff in there. That way, when you need to wipe the sink, you just pick up one thing and move it, instead of a bunch of bottles and things. Efficient laziness is my watchword! :D

I'm impressed by both your hoop and your ability to use it. Is that an adjunct to your pole work, or did the hoop come first?

With us you get a special spray in the shops to keep them from doing it, maybe you could ask in a pet shop?

Or call the vet for ideas? Seems strange that he would start it now after not ever doing it before, hmmm

Starting something from the beginning again that you've done before is always tough and excellent training for patience and self-compassion :D Thanks for the tip, it's true, but I'll need a large container for that as between the 5 of us we use 3 different tooth pastes, 2 of my kids wear braces that they can take out while at school, so there is those containers,... it's a LOT of stuff piled up around that basin. But we do have a little counter on top so I'll try keep most things up there and only the soap dish on the sink itself. I know this is only the short term version, long term the counter should shine more too and then it will annoy me there just the same... probably best a plate that can be washed easily itself, right?

Oh there is not much to be impressed with (yet, hopefully one day there is :) ) Adjunct, yes. Our pole studio offers so many fun classes, I had to try hoop for a while but it was going to get too expensive to go for classes in both hoop and pole, so I invested into a hoop for at home rather. Which I played with a lot to start with! And then not so much....

But now is a new year and it's up again, so yay :)

We just think he's old (he's 18 now) and he doesn't bother to go to the box. But only once a day, so whimsical.

Straddles are so cool!

With the hoop you have the extra-difficulty because of balance, right? It must feel different to do a chin-up there.

They are so cool and they look pretty too ^_^

It is more wobbly yes, but I can't do them from hanging because my ceiling isn't high enough, so I get to keep the top of my feet on the floor even when I am in the top position, so that helps ;)

Oh, I realize ceiling height is a lame excuse, because I could -theoretically - do them from the upper end of the hoop :o welllllll, let's keep that in mind for the distant future for now and not mention it again....

Hoops are tough! you go girl.

Its morning, havnt got my coffee yet, so maybe someone pointed out.

For your chins/pull-ups. Are there any way you can do them from a dead hang, it will help you when you do things where the hoop is higher in the air, otherwise you will lack the strength in that part of the motion?

Maybe staying on a stool or similary and grip the top of the hoop,?

Other than that you rock! (and you win at life for having a (and playing) harp!!!!!!!!!

btw following your instagram now!

Thanks  I'm actually just aiming for a general conditioning of strength right now, but you're right I might as well do things that will help me on a hoop in general and therefore will help me on the pole, too.

Guess I will have to look into the higher version after all, waaaaaah. Scary stuff.

Highere up is always scary. However Full range of motion will save you a lot of time later on, when you just want to do stuff!.

I remember to do drops on the hoop, it was scary and hurted like shite.

However when all this is set you do amazing work! go you!

okay, so I checked it out now and there is maybe enough space for my head to go over, but considering I can barely pull myself high enough to touch the upper hoop part with my front head, I should be quite safe for starters

Well to be honest its a few years ago. I dont do Hoops however a friend of mine (which currently lives in the other end of the world)

Had straps, hoop and pole - so was fooling around on her hoop and straps and pole. So I have done some but not much at all :D.

However I think its fun, so I take the challenge when I have the chance :D
