ERMGAH I AM LATE.

I don't have a challenge figured, out, so I think I'll do the same thing last time.

it.... kind of worked out? stemmed the upwards weight, anyway. got me back in the habit of gymming.

 

MAIN QUEST

LOSE FAT. This could be signified by either losing weight, or using fancy schmancy tracking tools (wifi scale, skulpt device, measurements, photos) to double check.

* so.... actually compare photos this challenge, hmmm?

 

Goal 1: Exercise More / Don't Break The Chain

I need to do something every day. Running, TKD, going to the gym and doing weights, SOMETHING.

If I can't do a formal thing exercise for at least 30 minutes (20 if it's running, plus a cool down at the end), these are my options for not breaking the chain:

* do at least 5 sets of 100 jumping jacks

* go for a real 30 minute walk. Poke-walking counts. just WALK.

* hula hoop practice for at least 15 minutes.

* other things that are like these things that will be good for me

 

Goal 2: Eat Less / Eat Better

STICK WITH THE PLAN, STAN. I did really good last month, keep it up!!!

my loseit plan is still set at losing 1 lb a week, which is a 500 calorie / day deficit over where it thinks I actually am.

ALSO I am going to start logging half and half in coffee / milk in tea. --> do better at this, I totally skipped it last month.

 

Goal 3: Put the NERD back in NERD FITNESS.

Use the tools! Track food, daily weigh, dust off my nutty excel spreadsheet and fill in the last few challenges.

ALSO

weekly photos

weekly measurements

weekly or MORE skulpt readings. * do better with measurements. Fix the skulpt. *

and most importantly!

USE THIS TOOL! the forums are like my A+ Number 1 tool for success, and that needs to include WEEKLY CHALLENGE RECAPS as well as mostly nearly every day daily check-ins!

oh my gosh, I forgot that I hate sunday start challenges!!!

this was my out, and I blew it!

 

Week 1 Day 1. LATE. well, it snowed. and then it sleeted. and snowed. so I stayed on the couch all day and then went out and shoveled for over an hour. I'm calling that exercise! esp. as my fitbit logged it as "sport" for 41 minutes.

Stayed on track. I didn't mention that we had a chili party on Sat., and have SO MUCH amazing leftover chili lying around. it's pretty much the best.  we had it for breakfast and dinner on Sat.

 

Week 1 Day 2. LATE. I didn't get up, my legs were aching something fierce from the shoveling and I didn't sleep well (between the wind being so noisy and being anxious about my dad). then I had an alumni function in the evening, and had some beers and ended up going over calories. OH MAN.

 

Week 1 Day 3. This morning my husband didn't want to go to the gym with me - "a cold," he said. So I got up and did a yoga sun salutation thing for 20 minutes (beginner level, my legs have been ALLLLL messed up. I'm blaming the shoveling but it is also totally the driving to/from MD in 18 hours last week) and MAN was it helpful, and MAN do I need to do that, like, every day and maybe 2x a day because my legs are just horrible.

 

I'm going to try for tkd tonight but I have an eye drs appt in the wrong direct, so I will need to move decisively to get there in time.

also we are having a valentine's day potluck today at work and I brought tomato soup from our cupboard because I just couldn't bother to plan.

 

Speaking of Valentines day, today is the day my dad finds out from mass general if he is going to be permitted to have the LVAD placed in his heart, and the surgery will be scheduled. If he is an appropriate candidate. Here's to hearts!

Best wishes and good luck to him! SNow shoveling definitely counts as a workout and a half, and always seems to take forever to recover from. Good luck with the appointment/tkd!

yeah, my back muscles (the ones where my  wings would attach, if I had wings, which I don't (absolutely don't) at all) are really feeling it today. and my twisting muscles on my abs. which is making me think of exercises I need to do more of so I can be more fit!

Appointment went well. Dilation was had, look: she's got David Bowie eyes:

One of my eyes always overdialates and takes longer to subside, probs because they're so light colored. Awesomely my eyes/prescription hasn't changed in ages. So glad they seem mostly stable. as I told my eye doc: as long as I can read in bed without glasses on life is GOOOOOOD.

 

Also I achieved TKD! Made it there in time for class, phew. Had my husband drop off Thirteen and my gear, which was so helpful.

 

Food was a wreck yesterday. Between potluck and Valentine's Day I overate. We don't normally celebrate but my husband surprised me with this lemon cake:

(Note re: the Mr/Mrs mugs - a wedding gift, and we immediately began drinking from the opposite gendered cup. I always get Mr: no heteronormativity in our house!)

(also note, this lemon cake is from a box that was WELL EXPIRED and it was delicious. possibly because it had a lemon glaze poured over top and lemon buttercream frosting in the middle.)

Ugh. I hate having my eyes dilated because they always have to follow up with a secondary eye drop to speed up the undilation process - and it still takes forever for me to be able to see normally.

I'm feeling pretty addlepated. My dad is supposed to be having surgery tomorrow, which is open heart and will take 4-6 hours? I just checked in with daddy and he still doesn't have anything scheduled and made allusions to "a rough night last night, I'll tell you later" and I have no idea what that means and it is really stressing me out. I took a few minutes to print out photos to stick into my hobobujo (less bujo these days) and that was really calming.

 

so I'm all packed to drive up to Boston sometime this afternoon. I didn't exercise today and I ate like an asshole yesterday (pizza for lunch, petros [frito pie] and beer for dinner. I'll take tomorrow off, I brought clothes with me for 4 days even though I don't know what's happening. I have my stuff with for running at the hotel and two knitting projects. I'm planning to drive in and park at the hospital lot tonight, and move the car tomorrow to a commuter parking lot on the red t-line so I can save some bucks. there's a whole foods around the corner and a small fridge in the hotel room, so I'll hopefully not eat like too much of an asshole. Both my stepmom and dad are raving about the mass general hospital cafeteria, by the way. I'll be the judge of that!

 

so, week 1 day 5. maybe not the most productive of days. here, have some photos instead.

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. y'all, I didn't realize how physically this stress is impacting me until I was updating my post, and omg it's awful. (like, not to be overly TMI OR silly, but I thought that I'd been feeling like (and *cough* smelling like) something had died inside of my digestive system was due to the huge quantities of chili I've been eating... but you know what, I bet it's stress. wtf, stress,  you are so nasty.)

 

@raptron thanks! I swear, all week I've been thinking about what a drag it is that I am going to boston and not going to have a chance to meet you. UGH. I will for sure let you know if I need anything. I really appreciate it.

Buddy. This is one of those situations where you forget everything else and take care of your dad and yourself. If you need to eat more comfort food than usual, do it. If it were me, I'd be telling myself to just watch the alcohol consumption, keep the meditation going, do some light exercise when I can, and let the rest fall by the wayside until crisis is over. Good thoughts for your dad. Much love.
