Well crap. Looks like I'm going to have to rest up over the next few days to try to beat Sam. Think I could do it in my prime a year or two ago, but I'm nowhere near back to that yet. I gotta give it a shot though. Friendly competition seems to be the only thing that drives me to actually do my challenge goals (lift/eat/recover this time), this should do it.

I love it!!!  I believe 16x375 or 15x400 with a good tempo should do it for you! :D

Also, what gym to you go to that has 3 deadlift platforms?!

I still go to the place I call Darkside Fitness.

It is a typical commercial gym.  Lots of cardio machines.  Lots of weight machines.  Two squat cages.  Three platforms.  I get the impression that squats and deadlifts are much more popular because they are always being used.  They did not think the layout very carefully.  They put all of that right in front of the basketball court entrance, so there is traffic.  It gets really annoying when rugrats are running through the weights section and they don't look old enough to know enough to look where they are going.

Also, I have learned to sneak chalk in there and I am using it a lot more often.  Somebody teased me about it last time I was there because apparently my pure paladin reputation is something I radiate.

They have one more location featuring a Temple of Counterfit.  With that layout, there are lots of places to squat or deadlift or Oly lift.  Just be there when there is no class going on.

Is the fixed barbell what you have? Where you can't change the weights? Something like this...

That's exactly it.  And thank you!  That's exactly the kind of advice I needed. :) I can't wait to get back to a weight day so I can do this.

Thank you!

Liquid chalk...like what rock climbers use. It doesnt get everywhere like powdered chalk does. My globogym used to yell at people getting chalk all over but they let my liquid chalk slide.

QFT. Although now that I'm at a different YMCA and guys take dust bathes in chalk before their sets, I might get a cheapo chalk bag just to save some hassle.

Or liquid. I make my own from a former chalk block that fell apart. Cheap, easy and neat. Lasts a long time.

It's a process,  I don't do standing OHP,  too much strain on the lower back.

I've found that OHP puts a lot of strain on my lower back if and only if I'm not activating my entire body properly - which includes core, glutes, quads, lats... think mountain pose in yoga.

and add in some pelvic tilt that I get into when I try to lift heavy...  juice isn't worth the squeeze.

It did for me when I first started, and it's because I was doing it wrong. Key is to squeeze your glutes and shove your hips as far forward as possible like you're humping that beautiful thing in the mirror, which engages the abs. Low back pain went away completely from OHP with that cahnge. Thansk @Knightwatch

It's what I use too, just dries my hands out like crazy. I just make sure to wash them and lotion them after the workout and it's fine though.

How do you make your own, chalk and hand sanitizer?

So, just for funsies, I did thing.110lb x10 for 1st set, then x9 for the other 3 sets. (Not the prettiest touch and go reps I've ever done, but I haven't pulled 10s in a while either :P)

Hit beginner in 1:52 (2090lb) and hit advanced at 4:38 (4070), counting from start of 1st rep not when I started the timer. (Not that it matters I suppose. I still finished with 10 seconds on the clock.)

I then promptly sat my butt down because holy oxygen deprivation, Batman..

So wasn't in the mood when I got to the gym last night but made myself go through with it anyways.

Did the advanced standard of 21 touch-n-go reps of 285# at 00:51.  Reset my grip at 13 reps.  Even took a video... which I promptly deleted when trying to stop the timer.

Even though my grip and lower back were FRIED I waited out 15:00 and tried max volume in 05:00:  83 reps of the same weight or 23,655#.

Could not sustain the original pace AT ALL; I was down to doubles.  Should not have done that before the new Open workout (which is super grip intensive)!  I could definitely do better if I was fresh and had eaten better throughout the day.

285x21 is short of #6000, but that's my fault because I mathed bad in the OP. (fixed now)

Would you be opposed to me adding 3 seconds to account for the extra rep that would have put you over?

Who even invited you? I was waiting for flex to roll up with 15k in volume, then I had this plan to drop 20k like a mic at a bar mitzvah, bitch-ass preteens; but 23.655k??11855406.gif

Well done, way to represent the rangers.

I nearly just didnt even bother after what Rurik put up but my regular deadlift session was really shitty so I went ahead and did it anyway so I could say I accomplished something.

4x10x225 in about 4:50 for a total of 9000lbs. Had to take a breather after 7 reps on the last set and grind out the last 3 reps with about 30 secs to go.

I have a new level of respect for anyone completing this mini.

As I said, I would steal @Curl Brogo's plan.

On 2/27/2017 at 7:43 AM, Curl Brogo said:

135#

Sets: 13, 10, 10, 8, 6, 5

Beginner goal: 30reps, 4050# @ ~3:00

Advanced goal: 45 reps, 6075# @ ~4:30

How ever I did it a lot faster.  135lbs

35 reps at 1 min.  4000lbs was at my 30th rep which is right around 51-54 sec mark.

I then took 45 sec rest and pushed out a quick 11 reps to get to 46 reps at 2 min mark.

45 reps is the 6000lbs mark so I hit that just under 2 min.

I then pushed out 9 more reps to finish at 55 reps at 3 min. I then quit.

Lessons learned:  I should have slowed down the start so I had more energy left later.  Easy to say now...  but I should have rested a bit and attempted to get more reps.  I still had 2 min left on the clock when I quit.

Tapping out on the max volume attempt since I was going to have to rearrange normal workout schedule to even try and Rurik blew this out of the water.

I did hit men's advanced this morning on my warmup sets before normal deadlift day. 2x25x135lbs for a total of 6750 in 2:10sec.
