This challenge is a modified version of previous AIBARN'ing (Am I Being Assassin-y Right Now?) attempts-- this time I will attempt to do at least one Assassin-y thing a day. In a perfect world I'll end up doing several things a day, but I'm keeping it low key for now. Next challenge it should be warm out all the time and I can ramp things up (instead of every third day being 80 and the others being 40... DARN YOU VIRGINIA WEATHER. *shakes fist at sky*) What will my Assassin-y things be? ...I have no idea. But it will be fun to find out! Day 1 (3/19) - Self-care (Migraine, boo!) Day 2 (3/20) - Range of motion testing (figuring out what I can do with my arm) Day 3 (3/21) - Move it, Move it! Day 4 (3/22) - FAIL Day 5 (3/23) - Building a Dog-proof Fence Day 6 (3/24) - I don't remember? (Doh!) Day 7 (3/25) - Art! (and migraines) Day 8 (3/26) - Lumbering with Lumber! Day 9 (3/27) - Dog Walks! (And More Lumbering with Lumber) Day 10 (3/28) - Walk, walk, walk (aka MANY CHORES, MOAR DOTS!) Day 11 (3/29) - Lots of research, Lots of art Day 12 (3/30) - Pollen, the sickening! (And art) Day 13 (3/31) - Weird work hours and Housework Day 14 (4/1) - Hazelnuts, the Fence-ing-ing! Day 15 (4/2) - Paint, paint, paint (at odd angles) the fish gazebo Day 16 (4/3) - Almost done with the Lumbering! Day 17 (4/4) - POWER TOOLS! (Also: lots of steps on steps) Day 18 (4/5) - Getting sick Day 19 (4/6) - Sick Day 20 (4/7) - Sick (and NaNo!) ((and a little bit of art)) Day 21 (4/8) - Dad visit! Day 22 (4/9) - Dad visit! Seriously though, I love this idea and am very tempted to steal it And I am sure you do have some things in mind already. What kind of stuff are you looking for? Handstands? Cart wheels? I was honestly thinking of just stalking everyone else's challenges and trying random things, I am 100% willing to embrace failing, so ALL THE THINGS! I really need to find a fitness thing that I can go get out of the house and be social-ish about, but all the cool weapons-work and gymnastics and parkour etc. is all in Northern VA. My favorite assassin-y thing is quietly walking behind someone and scaring the crap out of them (loved ones and co-workers, I would never do that to a stranger, I try to be less stealthy around them). Granted this just happens without me trying... And this weather... I really want to go outside and start doing things, but here I am hiding under a blanket waiting for the first (and probably only) snow storm this winter. One thing I've noticed in parkour is that the idea of getting off the ground is weird when you're an adult. What if I fall? I'm not used to catching myself from a different height? I might miss/stumble/trip/slide/lose my balance etc! Being at a different height changes your outlook (literally and figuratively) and gets you out of the habit of just walking around obstacles. Going for a walk? Balance on the curb. Walking through a parking area? Jump (1 foot or 2 feet at a time) onto the concrete parking stops. I cannot wait for the weather to get better in Virginia, there are a bazillion things to do outside (am I collecting bookmarks, yes I am! ) and I am therefore declaring this THE SPRING/SUMMER OF ASSASSIN'ing! ...but not when it's 40 outside and crazy windy. *watches trees with some alarm* I will climb things! I will balance on things! I will jump from/to/on things! I will throw things! (I may even catch things) I will try out yoga! I will sprint! I will walk! I will teach my dog awesome ninja tricks! (She will adore this idea, she is a very ninja sidekick dog) I will try and find friends to whiffle ball battle with! I will push things! I will pull things! I will dance battle with someone! (Even if it is my dog) I will NOT drive like Batman because I like being a law-abiding assassin. *nodnod* I will check out the free archery range that one of the parks has! I sort of maybe kinda want to check out the nine gazillion martial arts places around here (because lo, Batman) but I really liked working with weapons. I know there are SCAdians around here somewhere, but I am more into the battling and less into the reenacting, so I'm not sure we'd mesh well. I've also missed horseback riding, but I was never in it for the shows... I'm more of a gymnika sort of soul and they never did that in NoVA when I was growing up. UnquietBones Posted March 15, 2017 Author Report Share Posted March 15, 2017 I just checked out http://darebee.com/daily-dares.html... and y'all are totally right this looks like SO MUCH FUN! I don't think I can do many of these, but I've never tried!! So this will be an awesome way to find something bodyweight-y to do! I am home from work today because one of the sump pumps died (no damage because the alarm woke us up, we just used a small pump to move the water out of it into the one that works) so I have to wait for the repair guy to come by. Which means it's an excellent time to finish cleaning so I have room to Assassin when the challenge starts up! (I just found my old hand weights and good grief 5 pounds is much heavier than I remember). Also, I'm now in contact with two rescue organizations (one for anything and one for labs) so there's a good chance the fluffeh puppeh will be getting a ninja'ing partner soon! Which means LOTS OF DOG WALKS! (Well, there would have been lots of walks anyways, but walks are great way to bond with a new dog). 5 Quote Learning the art of Failing Upwards... Assassin-y Thing : Sleeping and Reading Books I had a migraine, which precludes the acrobatic assassin-y things, so I did the smart move of staying in bed and sleeping or reading (paper!) books. It was quite frustrating, but as I had to be at work at 5am this morning, it was the grown-up-y thing to do. Less Batman-y me might have tried to power through and do something unwise... but I prevailed! And I have a new mascot that sits next to the alarm clock (and humidifier)... BEHOLD!
