Broba Fett Out-lifts The Warriors

Recommended Posts

Warriors, come out to plaaaaaay!

That's right. I have thrown down the gauntlet.

This month I am challenging all takers to a volume-off.

I'll be recording my volume for every workout and I dare y'all to try to beat me in total volume lifted for the week.

Anyone who does so gets to pick what kind of cardio/conditioning I do the next week.

Want to make me run? Flip tires in the snow? Heavy yoke or farmers? 5 miles of rucking? Beat me.

Six people beat me? I gotta fit 6 different forms of cardio in the next week.  I will likely get 3-4 hours of cardio per week so it's your job to tell me what to do, it's my job to fit it all in.

I have access to all sorts of strongman and crossfit equipment for y'all to abuse me with, in addition to your standard cardio methods.

If I end up on top I get to pick what I do. And I will go easy on myself so please kick my ass.  (Also, if you want to wager something on your end to hold yourself accountable please let me know.)

If you're game, post it and update the sheet below at the end of the week with your total volume. Ladies, multiply your volume by 1.75.

Pushups, BW squats, pullups, dips and the like count as moving your full bodyweight.  I'm only counting half my bodyweight for such movements since I'm almost certainly bigger than you and I want y'all to feel like you have a chance. ;)

Feel free to post your daily totals here or in your challenge thread so I know what I need to strive towards.

Here's the sheet.

Bring it.

are you really doing 5 mile rucks? I'm almost up to 3 miles on my Sunday hikes.

also YAYYYYYY you are here!

Nope! But I will if someone beats me.

Preferably five miles total in the week but if they demand 5 miles in one go then that's what they get.

Well, I'm sure I'm not going to beat you, even with the 1.5 multiplier, but it's certainly an interesting metric to track!  Thanks for the inspiration, and good luck!

Oh man, even with the 1.5 modifier I wouldn't be much of a challenge hahaha but I'll follow along to watch the others try

After I get home I'll add up my volume from last week and we can see if 1.5x is fair or not.

Either way, glad to have you both check in.

I have no idea what this month will be, or if I'll even challenge. I will... keep this in mind tho, if for no other reason than to give you something to sweat about ;)

Oh, my.  My week runs from Monday to Sunday and I have three program weeks remaining.  This is Week 0, so I can give you a practice week.  Then two weeks of programming, then a one-week break.

The only cardio I can think of involves lifting faster. :D

Your cardio picks will have to wait for this Week 3 break if that's okay.  And Weeks 3 and for I cannot play.

Hella following. Would you prefer contenders post a running update for their weeklong tally so you/they know if someone needs to crank out a few extra reps on Saturday for victory? Or do you like a Saturday/Sunday report for the past week?

Ok, @Leigh @RedStone @Taddea Zhaan @Vibrantella, my volume for last week was 62,961lbs.  Does 1.5x get y'all close?  Do we need to jump it up a bit?  I don't want to assume anything about what you are lifting, especially after Redstone whipped my ass in the mini last month.

A couple extra caveats that I will add to the first post:

  1. I will be adjusting my program from 4 to 3x per week in order to get more cardio in starting next week but I will still be limited to about 3-4 hours per week.  So if you beat me, keep that in mind.  If multiple people beat me, I'm just going to have to break up my cardio as well as I can.  For example, if you tell me to do heavy yoke, I may do that as my 20 mins of cardio i can fit in after leg day.
  2. I will list out the cardio options that I easily have access to in the first post.  Creativity is encouraged.

Jump in whenever you can sir.  It'll be good to have the challenge.  Each week will decide the next week's cardio starting with this week.

Whatever y'all can do.  It'd be nice to have updates each day to push me but if people can't do that it's perfectly fine.  Weekly total is the important number.  I will update daily to push everyone and I will try to have my final total for the week up by friday night.  We will say everyone has until 6pm sunday night to give their weekly total and tell me what cardio to do.

I'll also be doing my best to follow everyone so if you guys just want to put your total volume in your workout recaps on your thread that works too.

Enough.  I had enough.  Right around the time Sam responded I started questioning what I had done. ;)

I could be interested. I am cutting right now though...so my lifts a weak brah.

Feel free to jump in whenever.  I really have no idea what you guys are doing on the regular so you may be able to pull the necessary volume even on a cut.  Either way, good to have you checking in.

You don't scare me Br0din.  Coming in here with stylish gifs of women wearing very questionably-effective armor.  Pshhhh.

Got the volume to back up that decapitation?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, let the challenge officially begin.  This morning I put in 14,083 lbs on chest/bis day.

I hit new PRs (either weight or reps) on every lift.

20 mins of bike prior, 20 mins of elliptical after.

I then went to complete nutrition to get an Inbody body scan to compare beginning of challenge to after challenge. I got a couple awesome surprises:

  1. One of the coaches from my old Strongman/CF gym (one that really knows his shit and always helped me out) works there full time!
  2. I've gained 13.5lbs but lost 4.5% body fat since late October when I did my last scan.  Holy shit.  I was not expecting that good of an improvement, especially when you take eating like a heathen and doing nothing most of December.  Perfect example of why scales can suck it and that recomping is a thing.  I'm sure there is some margin of error but I am very emboldened.  I will post the scans at the bottom of this post.
  3. THEY MAKE BREAKFAST CEREAL FLAVORED PROTEIN POWDER.  I REPEAT, MY NEW PROTEIN TASTES LIKE LUCKY FREAKING CHARMS.  It's expensive but I'm going to give it a shot.

For those who haven't been following along, I was 500lbs at one point before I found NF.  I lost nearly 150lbs, got divorced, gained 85 back.  Back down to around 100lbs down total, much lower body fat, and much stronger.  For the last month I've been working more hypertrophy (except deadlifts, because deadlifts) and not really worrying about what I'm eating besides generally trying to avoid sugar and caloric drinks.  Full one month report upcoming on that Friday.  (Spoilers: It's working.)  So things will stay the same except I'll be condensing to 3 lift days per week and more cardio.

So I'm trying to see how much I lifted to compare. I added up 30,000 for last week. But that's not including: 217 pushups, lunges, and pull UPS. I want sure how to add those.
