I've come across from the rangers for an undetermined amount of time as this seems like the perfect place to help me find my calm place and manage the amount of stress in my life.

 

Honestly, kind of feeling a little out of my depth as this is my first proper shot at tackling these issues in such a head on way, but I'm hoping that by the end of this challenge I'll at least have established some routine and that maybe, just maybe, I'll even have a proper sleeping pattern.

This year so far I've been throwing myself into the dharma and renewing my practice of zen Buddhism and mindfulness. Doing so had been a major breakthrough for my dealing with depression. In my challenge, I'm working on improving my meditation posture and endurance, losing weight, and I'm also making art these days.

I've come limping back to heal my body and mind a bit; biding time until I can return my life how I want it. I came across from the Assassins because I got a bit ahead of myself thinking having a broken ankle wasn't going to affect me as much as it has. I've kept positive, but now it's time to slow down and really work on taking it one limpy step at a time. I am working on doing physio, keeping my cardio up, as well as meditating and getting a bit of writing in. Might as well make use of all the time I am spending on the couch.

Sometimes these simple issues can be the trickiest -- don't give up! The insights I've gained along the way have enriched my life beyond measure.

Good to see you again, @Curl Brogo. Depression can be such a beast, and I know that only staying mindfully present and in touch with reality works for me.

Perhaps you will find, as I did, that there is no fighting depression, but that it dissolves upon acceptance.

Yes. Depression isn't going anywhere, but now I find it doesn't hit me so hard, and being mindful prevents me from being swept away by it.

I've picked up a few tips and tricks along the way, but putting them into practice and maintaining the habit has always been my stumbling block. Hopefully this will mark an end to it.

 

(heh, and while I may not have actually consumed a yeti, I do imagine it would be relatively chill!)

I think the mindfullness mostly attracted me to beign a druid, before I was slamming the weights and didn't realise my body isn't as strong as I want it to be, that I lacked flexibility, that I just wasn't lmistening to it. Still working with weights but always mindfull now, and nto going berserk :P

I'm planning to make this my first good challenge as a druid. I really want to do yoga everyday so I finally can find its benefits.

I feel like being a druid lets me center my focus on my mental health. I know we still can when we're another class, but the emphasis on mindfulness, meditation, and the mind/spirit side of our well-being is what brought me here. For this challenge I hope to find joy in what I do, instead of just doing it for the sake of getting it done or because its what I've been told to do.

Hi Druids.  I was wondering if I could get some love?  I'm having breast reduction surgery on the 30th, and it's something that I've dreamed of for as long as I can remember, but now that the surgery is so close, I'm freaking out!  I think it's just pre-surgery jitters, but if you could send some positive thoughts my way, I would be eternally grateful.

I completely understand the waiting-forever-only-to-freak-out. Give yourself permission to freak.  It's a big deal!  But then remind yourself of how amazing you are, what you have hoped and dreamed would come with this surgery, and how you are going to rock recovery and move into the reality of all those hopes and dreams! I hope you're able to plan to take care of yourself, be kind to yourself, give yourself some good pep talks, and approach this with more excitement and less nervousness.  You can do it!

I'm a former pastor turned stay-at-home/ homeschooling mom of 5 kids age 12-2. I love books, theology, pottery, art and music. I yearn for Beauty and Grace. I also have kind of sucked at both. For almost 42 years, I've been chronically lazy, messy, undisciplined, self-indulgent, and I've beaten myself up about it. But 2017 is the Year Everything Changes. I *am* becoming and *will* be The Grace Giver, bringer of Beauty and Peace. Thanks already for being part of my story.

I know a couple of people who have had this done and they've loved the results. I know the surgery is scary, but it's going to be so brief compared to the rest of your life post-reduction! Happy healing vibes for you.

Hello beautiful Druids!

 

I have been on a long, long journey and have finally returned. It has been years since I last posted here (2014), but I am so glad to be back, although it will take me a while to find my way around the forum again. I considered restarting my journey with the Rebels, but honestly, this is where I feel most at home. I love nature, and even though my main exercise will be walking, I am very interested in yoga and meditation and hopefully will find the energy to start doing that regularly too, because I'm 100% sure it will be so good for me. I have done some yoga, in the past and recently, but it's not something I do regularly. I hope I am welcome in the Druid's guild! Also, I'm aware today's the last day of the challenge, but I wasn't sure where else to post. Yup, I really need to learn to find my way around the forum... Do the Druids have their own section of the forum for topics that don't involve the challenges? I'd like to have a topic I can post on during challenges, but also during the days between two challenges.

 

Looking forward to supporting you :)
