raptron
I am a loon in a dino suit and leotard. I AM A PRODUCT OF ALL OF MY ACTIVITIES AND CHOICES, and by golly there are plenty. I lift, I do gymnastics, I technically have access to bouldering and rock climbing but rarely partake BUT COULD, I ruck, I reluctantly run sometimes, I bake, I drink, I dance, I socialize probably too much. I do all of these things and all of these things have an impact on who I am and what kinds of physical performances my meat sack I call a body will be able to achieve. I am going to make the choice to focus on the following in the next 4-5 weeks because I want my meat suit to be able to do well in a 12 mile obstacle course race in May and I've heard tell it's smart to train for your goals. 1. Endurance Conditioning 2x per week 2. Anti-gravity Pull-ups or chin-ups 2x per week 3. Joy Play 2x per week, can take the form of yoga flows, arm balancing, handstand work, splits training, or other interesting human body engagement 4. ...Wisdom? So yes, super tiiight. We have our anniversary during this challenge, so that dinner isn't going to count because it would wipe the whole budget, but I have been spending a lotta dough on random dinners with friends, brunches, etc. over the past few months and it's very noticeable on my budget (or lack thereof). TIGHTENING THAT BELT... kind of literally? Haha. We'll see whether it's attainable or not soon enough. I am not counting zero week. And because it doesn't count as a workout if you don't report it back in your thread, here begin my zero week updates! Day 0.1 Ugh, I hate deload week. So boring. I haven't had to do a real one in months, so I am extra whiny about it. There is an OHP/DL workout slated for the end of the week that is just 70% 3x3 as the top set. I MIGHT NOT EVEN BOTHER. Obviously that was over quickly, so I did 10 minute as many rounds as possible of 10 20# wall balls + 10 burpees with a gym friend. I got through 5 rounds and then stopped before the timer went out because I smacked myself in the face with the medicine ball starting the 6th, so I just laid down in sweaty protest. Gymnasts are not good at ball sports, I'm SORRY. raptron
The big thing about not setting a theme is that I don't have themed GIFs to use. HMM! This one just came up on my FB memories from last season: Day 0.3 Pre-peak week programming continues with some singles at my 1RMs from the start of the program. For those of you following along at home, you'll note these are not my current 100% lifts, haha, but there is even a note for this week to go with it anyway, so dutifully I did. My gym was really cold yesterday so I was super slow between sets and didn't finish until pretty late, even though I assumed it'd be a fast workout. I took some form checks on my squat singles to verify depth and they look pretty solid. I could probably have a tighter upper back (this is a chronic problem) but I have nothing to be nervous about. \o/ I think I am going to try for 240# next week. The 230# doubles were very safe. I don't think I mentioned it, but the gym just installed 2 stall bars: Which makes me very excited. I did some human flag progressions (like really baby progressions, nothing intense) and oblique leg lifts and stretching against them on Monday. They may feature heavily in my Play goal.
