Glutton for punishment :) I like this idea but at 5:30am when I'm out running it always seems like a terrible idea and I skip it.

It didn't seem like a good idea when I was half way through the set either! Man, Eric is a hard task-master! I just keep telling myself it's all worth it. :P

Yours too? Mine reminded me that we didn't feel him right before bed by continuously jumping on the bed, standing one me or just walking across me, then jumping off. Repeatedly. Over and over again. At 3am. No meowing but he's a fat bugger so walking on you hurts when you're not expecting it

They really know how to irritate the hell out of you, yet remain completely adorable while doing it.

I was going to use this gif this morning. You beat me to it. I don't know if it's true, but apparently there was a really long and complicated name for Cleese's character but he couldn't remember it, so just said Tim. Which is why he phrases it like a question. Tim?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 16th March

Lunch run was done, with added ass-kicking WoW in the middle. I really need to work on high intensity training more often. It really kills me.

When I got home in the evening, hubs was doing some stuff in the gym so I thought, what the hell, and went in after him and did some chin ups, squats, OHP and deadlift. My volume was low on everything except for the deadlifts because of the WoW at lunch. @jonfirestar is right, I am a glutton for punishment.

There's no coding class tonight so we've planned to go climbing. Then this weekend is going to a busy but fun one. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get up on time to go to parkrun, then I've got to go round a friends house to help plan my future Sister-in-law B's hen weekend. I've been put in charge of selecting an OCR for everyone to do so I'll be showing the girls the ones I think are good and convincing them all that they won't die and they'll have fun. I've lined up a couple of inflatable ones as they will be easier for the mums and aunties, but I know B will have more fun if we are all getting a little muddy.

monty python GIF

Then Sunday I need to see if I can squeeze in an 8 mile run before we head off to Wild Forest Gym for some OCR training. I'm seriously looking forward to blowing off the cobwebs and getting on some obstacles again.

Or just plain stupid! It'll be a very slow 8 miles so I don't wear myself out too much before all the fun begins.

How is it nearly Sunday afternoon already? I really want to do a proper catch up but I've not had five minutes spare I last updated.

No run yesterday as I had way more errands to run in the morning than I thought. The hen party meeting also took longer than anticipated so that killed most of my day. At least we got a lot planned and a race picked.

I got back from a 12km run about half an hour ago (a little shorter than planned, but I was a bit tight for time) and just getting ready to head over the Wild Forest for some obstacle fun. I'll let you know how it was later or tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Wild forest gym was great fun. We covered a lot of things that I knew already like rope and wall climbs, but the coach had some great tips for being more efficient, not only on the obstacles but also for transitioning from the obstacle to running. I also got to do some things I hadn't done before like the weaver; damn that's a deceptively hard obstacle!

The best part of the day? Completing the hang tough rings for the first time ever. I've always struggled to transition from the first ring to the next, yet today I did it perfectly multiple times. I was so excited. Of course, race conditions are different and wet and muddy rings are going to be harder, but at least I know I know the correct technique so I have a good chance of completing them in a race.

Got quite a few leg bruises from today but other than that I'm feeling great, so as long as the DOMS don't hit me too hard tomorrow, I'll be lifting.

Weaver looks awesome. I've seen a couple techniques on it, interested to try it sometime.

Rings - now that you've done the technique, you've got it. The only thing that will trip you up is slippery, and you climb enough to build up your grip to overcome that.

Sounds like an awesome time.

The only thing that makes the weaver hard is remembering the technique as your doing it. It's a lot of 'arm here, leg there, move one arm, move one leg.....' and if you get mixed up, you end up wasting a lot of energy.

No one likes a slippery ring! Unfortunately, RD's love putting rings right after a muddy pond or swim, just to fuck you up.

That's true. Everyone looked super excited when I showed them the video of the inflatable race and a few people have decided to do it when before they were just going to watch, so it was definitely the right call.

It is a giant, intense adult playground! So many obstacles that I didn't get to try them all as we ran out of time. I really wanted to try the peg wall so I'm going to have to go back to give it a try.
