Yasha, what would DnD do?

Yasha92

Recommended Posts

Hello friends~

For this challenge I will be channelling some of my DnD characters, having a fallback of “what would XXX do?” will hopefully keep me on track. I love how different my characters are, so why not bring a bit of that into play in the challenge too?! To help others understand I will give a teeny-tiny back story of each of the four main PCs I run/have recently run. ((Not my pictures… I stole them from the internet))

wqxiT5n.jpg

Seris: a druid from the deep woods Seris was consistently feeding the party with a combo of create food and water and survival skills, she would never have drunk her calories and it was only at the pushing of her friends that she ate the fancy meal that killed the whole party, be like Seris (except that last bit, then be more Seris than even Seris was).

3237e7252418ed166937aa47f2a51e61.jpg

Duunack: half-orc barbarian with the flaw “violence is my answer to any challenge”. Duunack has a membership at the fighters’ guild and regularly spars against other fighters as well as training with the best the city has to offer, thank the gods for non-lethal damage or there would be a lot more carnage. Duunack can carry two party members at a time and would never sleep through training, be like Duunack (except he can’t read, don’t be like Duunack there, because of the studying quest…)

khajiit_commission_for_dinofeliscristata

PussyWillow: house-ruled Khajiit-type wizard bred of an unnatural coupling of a mad sorcerer and his polymorphed familiar. Willow is crazy smart, though a little shy. She dedicates herself to her studies with diligence and the pay-offs are fantastic, be like Willow (except for the hairballs).

tumblr_mwonprOdiB1qz6tdlo1_500.png

Psioni: another house-ruled race- half-siren bard. Psioni’s strengths lie in psychic-type spells, keeping herself away from sticky situations of the mind. Psioni sings to ensure her mind and the minds of her party members stay strong, be like Psioni (except don’t try and breathe underwater).

AND SO, THE CHALLENGE~~~

“What would Seris do?” Whole30: We had good results with the Whole30 last time, this time I want to add in a little tracking so that I can think about thinking about macros… one day… maybe… (it’s just so much maths)!

“What would Duunack do?” Exercise: Get back in the gym! M-Th workouts means 4 a week minimum gyminum (yes I made that word up). If other fitness type things come up then perhaps I might take them, but no pressure to do so, my focus is SMASHING the scheduled workouts in a barbarian-like-rage.

“What would PussyWillow do?” Studying: Uni is starting to heat up assessment-wise so I need to be dedicating time each week to make sure I’m on top of homework and classes. Learning Mandarin is much more challenging than I thought it might be, but it’s lighting up all my competitive synapsis and I want to win (can you even win a language?) I’ve signed up for an hour study session run by a previous high-achiever student to get some extra guided study in and I’m watching lots of videos (though I don’t understand the words yet, and am relying pretty hard on subtitles).

“What would Psioni do?” Mindfulness and self-care: Work continues to be a source of stress and depression. I will negate this as much as possible by practicing good self-care. Mr drew to my attention the other day that I don’t sing any more, which is an indication of how down I have been. I will ensure 1 self-care act a week and 1 song a week (even if it’s twinkle twinkle in the shower).

That should be enough to keep up with :)

Love it! Following.

And just to add to the "What would ____ do?"

I accidentally flushed one of those cardboard roll things- bumped it into the bowl as I pressed the flush button and away it went. I was surprised it went down with no issues and didn't cause any... backlog. Still hope I'm never in that cardboard only shituation.

Welcome aboard! I hope so, often in my life I would sigh to myself 'why can't I be more like my pcs?' I only recently realised that could be flipped to 'why not?!'

Oh gosh, I love this! Following.

Following along.

Huzzah!

Fun challenge

Edit to ask: How is your mouth? Are you  back to normal? .

I'm pretty keen ^_^

Mouth is ok, still healing, so I have to be careful about eating on that side (and popcorn scares me coz of those little popcorn skin things, I'm terrified that one of those will get in the still healing gum.

Ugh, girl. I so feel this. It's such a bummer when you actually look back and realize... 'whoa. when did that stop?' I hope your self-care helps you feel better.

Right, week one day one and I'm starting straight off with some modifications (?!) Mr's work has been a massive pain in the bum and cut penalty rates as well as shuffling shifts which means we see even less of each other (he's at work by the time I get home and I'm asleep by the time he gets home), Tuesday through Friday we may briefly see each other in the morning, but that's it. As such Mr requested that we skip the whole30 as additional stress and trying to cook two lots of single meals depending whose on lunch/dinner cross over. Seris also had a strong role of healer and this is too much for Mr's mental health. Also I didn't go to the gym this morning as I hadn't been cleared by the dentist until after the time I would have gone. I did do a yoga video in substitution.

What would Seris do? Scaling this back to 5 a day freg. Banana, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, watermelon, spinachx2. Filled the first half of the day into a macro tracker but gave up when I could see I was going to go way over the carbs circle and not hit the protein/fats circles. Still, ate pretty well and felt pretty good for it.

What would Duunack do? Without the permission of the dentist I decided not to hit the gym this morning for big lifts and boxing. I subbed yoga in the evening and stubbornly stuck to the whole 30mins instead of tapping out 5mins in.

What would PussyWillow do? Studied tones for half an hour, did a practice test but read the instructions wrong and scored 1/12 D: (I put the English translation instead of the Chinese character)... I will ask the teacher tomorrow if there is a way to reset that test so I can try it again (it is not a marked test, just personal practice, so I don't see why not). I have a listening test tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous... we have the study group in the hour beforehand though, so hopefully that will give me a better chance.

What would Psioni do? Yoga was my self care trade for the gym, also visited the dentist to get the final all-clear and had a bath in the evening. Haven't sung yet, but intend to.

Had an overall ok day, dentist first thing in the morning to make sure everything is healing well and she said of noting changes I shouldn't need to see her again for about a year, which is nice. Work was ok, nothing special but nothing terrible. Best lady and I caught the bus home together to play the game hosted at our house (which was thankfully still clean from yesterday's game night). Did some study, a yoga video, a bath then bed.

I can't believe it's only Tuesday... it's been a full on week already.

An ok day today, again didn't make it to the gym, I have got to stop chickening out because of the average weather. I've gone in the rain before. I need to suck it up or put my membership on hold. Otherwise a pretty intense day, work plus lecture and tutorial (and the study group as well) for Mandarin. We had a dictation test as well and I'm certain that I flunked it pretty hard, I am struggling to tell the tones apart... hoping to scrape at least a few marks and made an effort to participate in the tutorial so at least I'm making up attendance and participation marks. Still quite enjoying it despite the tone struggles. Had a wobbly moment coming back from class/lunch (I'm not used to feeling so out of my depth academically, as I'm generally pretty high up in the class), but I managed to calm myself down enough to get back on the floor and keep going. It helped that I got a different test back with 96%. Briefly visited Mr at his work and helped wipe out a fridge where a can of Fanta exploded, then headed home and into bed.

What would Seris do? Sticking with the 5freg. Banana, same salad as yesterday (spinach, baby tomatoes, snap peas) but with ham instead of salmon, salad on my chicken and salad wrap, watermelon and jerky (a surprisingly good combo).

d5d495b263decc98df51a4c21ffff25f.jpg

(Cheaty photo stolen from yesterday, sub the salmon for ham, I had to eat while practicing peer study, no time for photo).

What would Duunack do? I'm letting myself down here. Headed to bed early and I WILL go to the gym tomorrow. No more excuses girl, time to channel that barbarian.

What would PussyWillow do? 1hr peer study, 1hr lecture (with test), 2hr tutorial... I'm all studied out today. Disappointed with my dictation test (though we don't have the results yet), but cheered by my 96% in the other class.

What would Psioni do? Sang a Mandarin counting song (does that count as study too? I feel like yes...), sang it once and have snuggled into bed early rather than staying up watching Netflix... a tough choice, but I think I'm choosing the better option in the long run.

Oow crap that fruit dish!!!

If you ask me Squat jumps may be added to this list:

Brazen bull, Iron maiden, thumb screw, the rack, spanish donkey.

(i'm so so so glad i'm not alive in those times!)

The fruit was delicious ^_^ the chocolate danish waffle helped too.

So, I googled 'squats are the devil' and came back with two amazing pictures... nothing like what I was looking for, but still.

Thursday update: an ok day. Gym in the morning, work which went really fast in the morning, then the afternoon dragged on for forever, then home and watched a bit of Dr Who on the floor (the couch isn't playing ice with my back). DOMS have made their triumphant return, but not as bad as they've been in the past, possibly because I'm getting so easily exhausted inthe gym I'm not pushing as much, possibly because I'm eating more and therefore have more energy for healing, not sure, could be both.

What would Seris do? I'm being fair and not counting the little chips of veggie matter in my dimsims as a veggie, which means I only hit 4 today. Banana, spinach and figs x2 cooked up some lemon and herb chicken which was delicious, but a piece got wedged in my gumhole, rather traumatic dealing with that situation.

What would Duunack do? Gymmed in the morning, still drained very quickly, but made it through a whole buck more than I thought I would.

9f7fbc0ecc0a68b9b088a0a77510a5db.jpg

What would PussyWillow do? No study today.

What would Psioni do? Watching DrWho was the most like self care for today, I need to trim and paint my nails tomorrow.

Duunack: no gym, was gunna do yoga but too drunkiepoo.

PussyWillow: Mandarin class, smashed it! Found out I got 74% for the dictation test I thought I'd failed, so I was really happy about that.

Psioni: went on date night with Mr. It was really nice. But now he has the hiccups o_o

Saturday: today seemed to pass quite quickly, I barely ate and what I ate was pretty terrible stuff and just now at a half past midnight I'm having my first glass of water (yikes!). Sometimes I get stuck in a big loop of thinking, not negative thoughts or anything, just not how I planned for things to go today... I ended up writing a big(ish) list of all the things I should do to save the world (dramatic much?) and went down a rabbit hole on YouTube watching permaculture videos and sketching up plans for the types of foods I could grow on our balcony... as it's just turned over to autumn and our honeymoon America trip will take up the first two months of Spring my timing isn't ideal (plus I really could have spent that time organising any of the many things that need to happen before we can go on our honeymoon (like, say, the wedding bit?!)) still I'm not going to beat myself up about it, weird days just happen.

What would Seris do? The only serving of 'veggie' I had was some extremely over salted sweet potato chips... unless we're counting ketchup and pickles... which we are not.

What would Duunack do? Not a gym day, didn't go but cranked out 10bodyweight squats when I remembered I'd missed a couple days earlier in the week and I did go for a little walk (maybe 10mins) to the hardware store, which was closed.

What would PussyWillow do? While technically I could argue that all the research I was doing about gardening and the such was studying I'm not pulling that nonsense... I have an assessment task due next week that really needs attending to tomorrow.

Psioni: it was a pretty chill day, I did a tiny trash-bash on the walk home from the hardware store and picked up a bag full of glass bottles and cans which I then put in the recycling bin. Singing also needs to happen tomorrow at some stage.

I was being a bit unfair feeling like I hadn't done anything today: I washed and dried a load of laundry (not folded, I'm still me), took out the rubbish, unstacked and restacked the dishwasher and changed the kitty litter, also moved up the heavy terracotta pot from the basement parking area to our balcony and watered the plants, so all is not lost.

It sounds like a mentally tiring day! Though researching a potential project for next year was probably a nice break from dealing with everything you have coming up.
