RedStone
But, but, but RedStone! Zero Week is almost over! You missed it! It's yesterday's news!! Okay, yeah. This past week has been a teeny bit busy. I was wrapping up my cramming studies and trying not to freak out about the test, but happen to be an irrationally nervous test taker. Even now, how many years after school... the anxiety peaked on Monday/Tuesday ish, chilled on Wednesday, then woke me up, bright and tweak eyed Thursday morning before the test. Top priority was getting through the week. It is now Saturday, and heyo, I'm still kicking! (Though TBH it hasn't really sunk in that it's over yet...) For me, Zero Week is about reflection and analysis. Pre-season is ending, a new stage is beginning. Work has been done, work will continue to be done. It's time to look at what's been accomplished and see how it's going to be applied to the next stages. It's kind of like New Years introspection, except it's always happening... rolling along with action. This past challenge in particular, along with this new one here, straddles a few important calendar dates for me: a year of being active on NF, a year of heavy lifting. The beginning of my transition to functional eating and healthy metabolism, as well as a new respect for what relapses can look and feel like for me. AH, and yes, becoming certified for personal training by the American Council on Exercise Everything was timed out nicely... study until my brain melts (check), take the test (check), pass the test (did that really happen??), go on vacation. I don't know about you guys, but I find travel extremely invigorating. Even just a local-ish weekend away looking for geo caches (seriously try it, it's awesome!) helps me hit the reset button. On Tuesday, Mr Red and I will be taking a week long road trip from Miami ---> St Augustine. Special events include a Mets spring training game on Mr Red's birthday, and a wedding for one of my dear Kung Fu brothers (and the initial spark behind the trip.) There will also be dancing and Everglading and botanical gardening maybe, and a whole lot of walking around. Since test week was Zero Week (ZERO WEEK!) and week 1-2 is travel, I debated skipping the challenge this go around. Then I found myself nearly writing a novel on my battle log, and also being relieved that now that the challenge was over I could start skipping breakfast. So, I made a tracker to keep me inline! Food and water weren't great surrounding the test, and I'm feeling that this will have to be a focus while I'm traveling. Eat to 1650 as close as possible, don't eat junk, reduce sugar, cause damn girl, you're getting hooked on the sweet stuff again. _____ WAIT. OK. Before I get ahead of myself... I should get back to Zero Week. (ZERO WEEK!) Since my schedule is so inconsistent during this challenge, and since I'm kind of at a personal cross roads in my life, I'M GOING TO HAVE ZERO WEEK FOR EVERY WEEK of this challenge Each week will have a new set of goals based on all of the new things going forward, and I will keep the goals even simpler than usual so as not to overload. For example, I usually include training on my trackers. But I always train no matter what. So... I don't have to include that... unless... I want to see boxes colored in. Which I usually do. (And why I usually include them on my challenges.) Hmm, very nice circular logic RedStone. Didn't really go anywhere though... _____ TLDR: new goals every week: just a few, simple and effective goals geared towards moving me forward in the next stages of my grand schemes. I dunno. TBD every week. That's the point _____ SO. The rest of this week = getting away from the junk I've been eating the last few days (OMG after the test... yeah. Jeez. White Castle. Don't think I've had that since 2001. I'll tell ya'll about that later...) while not loading up on groceries since leaving on Tuesday. Figure out training program with Lou. Get ready to peace out and get some sun, pamper: hair, maybe nails and clothes. PLAN TRAVEL GOALS for Zero Week Mach II. HIT THE DAMN RESET BUTTON. Let's do this. 12 Quote ~Peace Be The Journey~ one - two - three - four - five - six - seven- eight - nine - ten - eleven - twelve - thirteen - fourteen - fifteen - sixteen - seventeen - eighteen - nineteen - twenty - twenty one - twenty two - twenty three - twenty four - twenty five - twenty six - twenty seven - twenty eight - twenty nine - thirty - thirty one - thirty two - thirty three - thirty four - thirty five - thirty six Link to comment

RedStone
Okay! Back to business! Training this morning as per. Still doing the program with the kids, and got a taste of some heavier stuff and feeling it <3 Talked to Lou today about the program design theory and started discussing what's hapenning next week. Sounds like he wants me to get a real de-load... for my brain. We'll see what he comes up with on Monday. Highlights from today were paused box squats at 80% ish, which is really nice because I know I have a lot of work to do on my sticking point coming out of the hole. We've talked about doing bottom squats in the next micro... T&F 2X Superset A 2X Back Pedal for D ------> Sprint for D 5X Squat Jumps 10X BW Squats 3X Split Lunge Jumps easi (Box Squat Warmup) 5X 95# 5X115# 3X135# 5X Superset B 5X Pause Box squat 150# 2X 24" Box Jumps 5X Superset C 6X Racked Step ups (1X12kg KBs, 4X8kg) 6X Cossacks easi 2XD HASP 8X 3min run/1 min walk _____ The rest of today is for chillllling in the way that I meant to do yesterday and did not. Laundry and trying on clothes for the trip, see if we need anything... but the important thing is that I have zero intention of leaving the house I am very much in need of more sleep and it would be awesome if I didn't have to go to the outlet village to get more clothes tomorrow. That would be lame. Unless I sleep for 14 billion hours tonight... then maybe it would be ok! There may be a salty bath in my near future... So here are some push presses from Wednesday that got me stocked about lifting... I've been having some personal conflicts about training lately (a big thank you to @Flex Luthor for talking me off a ledge last week, even though you were totally delirious and ill and I should have let you sleep. Hope you're feeling better... ) Anyways, I think this was the first time I've done these - liked em! (Whole lot more fun than strict presses imo...) 3 Quote ~Peace Be The Journey~ one - two - three - four - five - six - seven- eight - nine - ten - eleven - twelve - thirteen - fourteen - fifteen - sixteen - seventeen - eighteen - nineteen - twenty - twenty one - twenty two - twenty three - twenty four - twenty five - twenty six - twenty seven - twenty eight - twenty nine - thirty - thirty one - thirty two - thirty three - thirty four - thirty five - thirty six Link to comment

Such a great plan for dealing with travel. Who knows what mysterious adventures might arise? Exactly what I'm thinking. I'll take a breather, hit the rest, and start putting the feelers out. I've been planning what I need to be doing after this stage... but I have NO IDEA what the next few weeks/months are going to look like, so just going to do my part and see where it takes me next! _____ Today it took me to the outlet village nearby. things that hapenned: 1. Fought about food. Woke up down 2.5# now that I am no longer binging on white castle and booze, also shark week. (I broke 110 for the first time in a year the other day...) Wanted to keep it that way, skipped breakfast. Tried to skip lunch. Did not. Got a sensible meal at Au Bon Pain. Felt immensely happier and more energized. DUH. 2. Tried on Dresses and bikinis, did not buy either, but not because they didn't look nice on me... they looked fine. I looked fine. But the items were... well, I could do better and I'm not in need. Even tho I have trouble buying myself things (because I don't "deserve" to), this was not because of that. 3. I DID buy a new bag, one that fits my bujo! It was an incentive from the last challenge and I fulfilled it finally. It's colorful and happy making. (I also got a matching wallet hoping it could double as a clutch, but after trying it out it won't work for my needs. I'll return it after the trip for something else. 4. I'm working on some art work for my friends. It's a good friend getting married, and I want to make them something special. They're a rock & roll couple and he runs a tattoo shop. I'll post the finished piece when I'm done, but here's the outline so far, minus color: Next up is hair dying (dude... my roots are taking over...) and making dinner. I think I have some broccoli I can roast and chicken in the freezer. Simple and easy, nothing punishable, and maybe I can even ditch a little extra bloat by getting away from take out for a day or so. This is going to be the tricky bit and probably the priority for week 1 challenge goals: How to eat while on the road, enjoy it, but it not be punishable. I'm kind of stumped if I'm honest... I'm thinking... try to eat as clean as possible? Or shoot for at least 1 clean meal per day? Any ideas? Tomorrow is trying on all the clothes and packing, last minute trips to the drug store etc, and anything else I may need to do, and training at night. Still in a state of disbelief that any of the things that are hapenning... are indeed hapenning... 5 Quote ~Peace Be The Journey~ one - two - three - four - five - six - seven- eight - nine - ten - eleven - twelve - thirteen - fourteen - fifteen - sixteen - seventeen - eighteen - nineteen - twenty - twenty one - twenty two - twenty three - twenty four - twenty five - twenty six - twenty seven - twenty eight - twenty nine - thirty - thirty one - thirty two - thirty three - thirty four - thirty five - thirty six Link to comment
Leigh
Road trip eating is always tricky. If you know what kinds of food make you feel kind of crappy, and which work okay at filling you up and not leaving you feeling ooky an hour or so later, maybe try and stick to the places that work? I know that up here, Wendy's has like four or five different kinds of pretty epic salad that I would call clean, and that A&W will lettuce wrap any sandwich they make at no charge. For me this works because it is usually bread with the burger that makes me feel crappy. Or you know, there's always subway [emoji14] I know for a fact all their food is free of preservatives, artificial colours and flavours now. And you can pile on as much veg as you want at no charge That works for us when we do trips if you are trying to find food along the highway. As for food in the places you stop, maybe look up some restaurants before you go? Lots of places have their menus online so you and Mr. Red can see what will work for both of you. Good luck! 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, fortunately I don't think we'll be on the road itself for more than a few hours at a stretch, so at least it won't be all truck stop type situations. That makes me think I should try loading up on good snacks for the car, jerky and fruit would do it, and see about sensible cafe selections when we're in cities. The biggest battle will be allowing myself to eat enough... though I don't want to be too hard on myself in either direction. It probably wouldn't kill me to have a mini cut, since this is a de-load week anyway and it's really quite short. (Yeah right, like THAT'S gonna happen ) I think the biggest key is not to get wrapped up and distracted by anything. What I need is a big dose of DGAF. Can someone slip me some of that pls??? 1 Quote ~Peace Be The Journey~ one - two - three - four - five - six - seven- eight - nine - ten - eleven - twelve - thirteen - fourteen - fifteen - sixteen - seventeen - eighteen - nineteen - twenty - twenty one - twenty two - twenty three - twenty four - twenty five - twenty six - twenty seven - twenty eight - twenty nine - thirty - thirty one - thirty two - thirty three - thirty four - thirty five - thirty six Link to comment

I don't want to settle anymore. I did that for so many years, buying and wearing things that I thought was most body appropriate - next to nothing when I was too thin, lots of baggy when I was heavier. I'm not a total fashion girl, mostly jeans and tee shirts really, but I'm also not NOT a fashion girl. I want to feel good in my skin and the skin I put on my skin should be an extension of that. No more "supossed tos", and I mean that in BOTH directions. I don't HAVE to wear a bikini to prove I feel better in my body, but I want to wear the right one because I love it and it dazzles on me. 2 minutes ago, Taddea Zhaan said: 3. pics of the bag or it didn't happen! I've wanted a kipling something since I was little. It's the little monkey Spike really likes the monkey... I was surprised... I thought they might bonk heads, but no, it's kind of a reverse CoCo's kitten situation (Bujo for scale) I tried to be worried that the navy wouldn't go with my black spring jacket and considered returning it too, and then I told myself to go fuck right off and enjoy the pretty colors. If I have time this afternoon I may try to put together a little zipper clutch to act as the wallet that didn't work out... 2 minutes ago, Taddea Zhaan said: 4. LOVE IT Thank you! I really hope they do too. I debated doing the color in pencil or watercolor... and while I would prefer the vibrancy of watercolor, the outline took forever and I wouldn't have time to redo it if there was a mistake. So... pencils it is! Still came out nice, and I may deepen the shading through the day today. OH and interesting side... I've been making tattoo inspired art like this for a long time, but never with real tattoo style outlines, always painted or chalked in a softer way. I think all the Bujo-ing gave me the confidence to do a hard edge outline!
