Plan for this week is tentative.  Schedule-wise, I should lift tomorrow.  But that might not work for recovery.  I'm assisting the talent show at work and we have rehearsals this week, interfering with my lifting.  I'll have to play it by ear, I guess.

i'm not sure whether the thought of a middle school talent show makes me cringe or giggle

I'll let you know.  It's my birthday "present".

Today's training (for you @ixaera and @Sam Ashen)

Squat:

2 x 5 at 20.4

1 x 5 at 43.1

1 x 5 at 61.2

1 x 3 at 83.9

5 x 3 at 99.8 - 3 rep PR!

The squats were haaaaaaaaaaaaard.  Probably because I was lifting in kilograms instead of pounds. :panda:  I will be switching to 3 x 3 soon, I think.  Maybe after 2 plates, though.  I'd like to get a full 5 sets there.

First... yay! For the Pr and for the kilo's.

Second... kilos are easier cos there's less of them.

Today's training...once again in pounds:

Squats

2 x 5 at 45

1 x 5 at 95

1 x 5 at 135

1 x 3 at 185

5 x 3 at 222.5 -  New 3 rep PR! Ding!

OHP

2 x 5 at 45

1 x 5 at 75

3 x 5 at 82.5  (3 sets instead of 5 for time, not for lack of strugglebus - they felt good)

Deadlift

2 x 5 at 45 rdl

1 x 5 at 135 - higher hips, tighter glutes - still working on form.

Forgot my mobility.  Oops.

I also remember why I stopped doing SL - I just can't deadlift heavy after squatting heavy.  I had intended to ramp up from 135, but NOPE.

Next week is also busy with work interfering with lifting...

Wrap up will come at some point tomorrow.  :-)

What about moving deadlift to after BSS?

My program has:

heavy squats paired with trap bar DL

high rep squats paired with heavy deadlift

pause squats paired with banded hip thrusts

I like that set-up as while it still sucks ass, at least heavy DL is not after heavy squat.

In a rare defense of SL on my part, this is just a sign the program ran its course and you'll need smarter programming to manage the stress to get deadlifts moving again. You can move some lifts to a more advanced program and keep the others on novice if you are still making good progress.

The spirit of this is heavy squats/light DL one day and light squats/heavy DL on another day, which I second.

It normally is, this week is wonky because of work obligations.  I was trying to put two workouts into one.  Nope^nope.

I think that I am heading this way...new programming.  3x3 squats on my current program first, tho
