Greeting Rangers!

HAPPY ZERO WEEK!!!

giphy.gif

Wandering Warrior RedStone here, joining ya'll in what may be a long, overdue visit :)  My first OCR is coming up soon, so I thought this would be a great time to pop on over for some Ranger mingling :D  I'm looking forward to getting to know you better, and see what this Ranger brain business I keep hearing about is like!

giphy.gif

Normally I would be all about Zero Week (ZERO WEEK!) and use the week to have some mini challenges and think about what I want to tackle next... but my last challenge was

5 FLIPPIN WEEKS OF ZERO WEEKS

and I... cannot, any longer. I love me some Zero Week, truly, but I'm looking forward to some simple consistency.

So. ON TO THE CHALLENGE!

giphy.gif

I'll be adding some OCR specific jams to my routine, and changing a few things up in my nutrition in a kind of scary/exciting way for me. I'm also in the the middle of a big sea change in my life, which may or may not effect the way things go down during this challenge. (Long story short, I just finished schooling and certification for a career change, and am currently interviewing for new jobs! Soooo... with any luck my schedule will be changing dramatically, but nothing is concrete enough at this point to prevent me from getting the biz laid out.)

TRAIN FOR ADVENTURE

If you're an adventurer like Finn, you never know what you might have to face...

I have a lot in my Rx that's prepping me for the unforeseen obstacles ahead of me, but there are some other things I'd like to work on as well.

Training is:

3X (per week) Lift Rx

2X (per week) Run Rx

Grip Work

-1X (per week) 50 rep light gripper

-1X (per week) dead hang to failure

(I have chin ups in my lift Rx, so I'll treat that as day 3)

5X (per week) 3rd World Squats for time

3X (per week) (SIGH) Burpees: Start at 5 per session, add 5 each week. 25 per session by end of challenge

5X (per week) Morning Sil Lum Tao (Kung Fu Form)

1X (per week) Walk to town

2X (per challenge) go to playground and do monkey things

_____

EAT UNAPOLOGETICALLY

giphy.gif

I don't have the best track record about eating the things. Recently I've made some interesting push/pull strides in eating more, tho it's messed with my head a bit. I've got my foot in the door of good head space, and I want to just push myself over that threshold already. I'm almost at 2 weeks of NOT compulsively tracking the foods, and have decided to put away the scale for awhile as well as the number game is playing up my BDD something fierce. I will be continuing with my daily measurements and meal planning. (This is where I struggle the most and need the most work :()

Nutrition is:

DON'T track regularly*

Weigh in only once per week

Meal plan weekly

Allow/plan for 3X treats per week

Continue research and consider fish oil. Report back

*There are once in awhile days, particularly when scheduling is off, that I may need to run my numbers to prove to myself that I should be listening to my hunger and allowing myself to eat more. TLDR: I started tracking to make sure I was eating enough... I wasn't. It's easier for me to ignore hunger than to mindlessly snack or over do. I don't consider this tracking on the regular, more of an occasional system of checks and balances. If I'm eating at the right time, regularly, this isn't really an issue.

_____

SORT THE TREEHOUSE

Finn and Jake might have a treasure room... and who knows, maybe I do too? I... probably just have to remove the layers of junk that's all over the place to find it! .....right?

yh5ByMv.gif

LIFE STUFF IS:

CLEAN

-Office

-Sewing Room (BONUS)

-Studio (BONUS)

5X per week - Read a trade article in the morning

1X per challenge - Get mortgage pre approval/send to realtor

Sooooo I realize this is a lot, and of course I'm holding back on more I want to include. To be fair, I'm in a weird transition where I was totally tied up doing all the things for school/work, and now I've got a whole lot of nothing but time. This, as I mentioned, could turn on a dime. So in light of that possibility, here are the things that would be on the chopping block, just to be clear about priorities. (This is not a way out before I even start, just a cushion of - it's ok if things get crazy.)

_____

THINGS I WOULD DITCH BECAUSE I GOTS NO TIME FOR YOU, YO

giphy.gif

DITCHABLES IN THE CASE OF SUDDEN EMPLOYMENT

Burpees. Obvs *grumbles about stupid burpees

Morning Forms

Cleaning

So I think that's plenty to get going on! I'll spend some time on a bujo tracker in the upcoming days, but meanwhile I'm very much looking forward to challenging with you guys this go round, and learning me up some awesome ish while I prep for my OCRs!

Welcome to the Rangers. I'm planning on doing a no -tracking challenge this time around. I've tracked for a while and found it helpful, but now I feel like's it getting compulsive. I like your allowance of occasionally running the numbers when your schedule is off, I'll probably steal that idea. Sometimes I find myself hungry but don't eat because I think I've eaten enough, but when I run the numbers I realize I could eat more.

Yessss it's such a pain in the butt balance LOL So far in the 2 weeks I've been going intuitive, I've only found myself needing this on Saturdays, which is a very clear red flag for lack of planning on Saturdays. (I also had 2 big training days these past 2, where I usually would have it on Friday.) The meal planning cushions the issue more than anything else, and a few hours worth of thought and shopping takes away almost all my stress for the week! I'll post a Bujo page once I've made it up :D

HIYA GUYS!!!

Sooooo challenge tracker is done and of course I messed it up a little :P But that's okay! Pre bujo RedStone would have started over, but imma just get some white paint and open up the crossed out boxed for 3rd world squats - they should be 5X per week instead of 3 :flustered: oops! Next up, menu planning! Convening with Mr Red over how we can come together as a vegetarian (him) and staunch carnivore (yo.) :D It's a weekly discussion. One pf these days we'll get it. Seeing as it's a holiday and we're off to a movie soon, I may or may not cook this evening. I have several meal options left over from last week, cause last week was weird... but I'm not going to stress it! (I'm going to TRY not to stress it :P) Checkboxes help. All the check boxes always.... #checksforever #checksrule #Marissashotfirst

oooh nice journal tracker! Bullet journal is a lifestyle change for my past OCD attempts at tracking systems (aka spend a ton of time on the tracker than never use it)

Following along 'cause 1) your challenge goals are great 2) i'm also new to rangers and 3) we may be doing the same OCR as our first OCR :D

AH NO WAY!!! Sweeeeet!!! :D I have to double check, there was kind of a running list on @Sylvaa's last thread, but @ArgSki77 is def part of it too :D Is there any special training you're doing for it? I'm gathering all the ideas I can find!

Bujo... totaaaally! I dragged my feet over starting it for months pretty much for the fear of being too precious about it, and doing it wrong AKA in a way I wouldn't use it. Got some face to face guidance and encouragement from @elvenengineer and haven't looked back since! It helps if I just dive in dirty and get a thing done kind of rough and ready, then I add color to distract from any mistakes make it pretty ;) I've definitely "ruined" pages and just washi taped over them LOL

Truthfully I'm still trying to plan out how I will train for this... my current routine is running with some bodyweight training mixed in and lots of yoga. I did notice on the website that the different obstacles have suggested strength exercises. Guess we'll figure it out! I'm looking up lots of different guides for training and seeing what looks fun :P

I like making my trackers colorful. Those are the only pages I really care about making look pretty :D Everything else is just a huge scribble, but hey whatever works

I kind of feel like there isn't a specific way to train, other than to tackle the basic elements of fitness. Other than running the exact obstacles, what else can you do? Be prepared for the unexpected I guess :P which sounds kinda fun to me... but also unsure lol

So... pretty trackers! It's... good if I get this done BEFORE Sunday and actually do my shopping on Sunday and prep and what not, but this is how the week panned out. Heyo. I'll take the plan tomorrow to get groceries, and... well I did what I could to plan for the unexpected. (Namely, an emergency dentist appointment I hope to make first thing in the morning - lost filling -_-) So, one tick down, (maybe 2? <3 = treats) and if anyone has any idea what a tiki picnic should be? I'm all ears :P After some domestic friction last night, we decided that for a Saturday night, if we're going to stay in, fun is on the menu!  It kind of feels like we picked some arbitrary words that = fun, but I assume we can pull a meal out of it. And apparently eat it off the floor? Why not indeed!

Yeeeah... I know it lol I've been wanting to edge back into daily practice for awhile now, but timid cause of tat over training breakdown last year. I'm finally FINALLY feeling like my recovery is on point, and it's time to give this biz another go! Hoping there's enough counterbalance in there, willing to adjust as needed, as always. Bloop bleep!
