Well I failed at my distance feat HARD last week and only hit 13.5mi*, so this week I get to double dip, hit 20+ miles and try hill sprints. I hope that my legs can regenerate.

 

*That did include my first ever organised 10k race though, so that's pretty cool.

JediPool will be sprinting suicides tomorrow morning hopefully.  I don't want to wait for Thursday or Friday.  Wednesday is definitely a lift day.

Since I'm dumb and I don't know how these chalenges work apparently, I said I was going to run a virtual 5k every week for my speed feat. I guess I'll just do all four this week. First one is done. Three more to go.78e7f8dc131a60368f9be0563abe8b69.jpg

10 suicide sprints in under 30 minutes complete!  After each sprint, I took a 30 second breather, then did two bodyweight exercises (varying between pull-ups, diamond push-ups, hollow body holds, and more), then 30 seconds and sprint again.  After 5 sprints I took a longer rest.  I expanded my rest time for the next 5 sprints to 1 minute so I didn't throw up.  I was still trying to catch my breath walking in to work 30 minutes later, so I think I did well.

Deademis reporting in to say, I just about caught Francie....have I called him that already?....Ah well, I'm running out of insulting and disparaging names to call him. MAN, I'm exhausted. Like, too exhausted to even double check that I used "disparaging" correctly.

For the record, the voice lady said--for the 3RD TIME THIS MISSION-- "Warning, zombies detected" just as I sped up to finish. So I squealed like a little girl cursed in a badass fashion and tried to run faster, but the zoms "caught" me when I slowed because the ground started to incline slightly and as a result, I "dropped 3 items" didn't know who they were messing with, so I threw things at them and they died!....uh, again....don't give me that look, it's true! Anyway, only THEN did the voice lady say "5K completed in 43:07", which this would have shown had I not been running for my life at the time. :P Even as it appears now though, this is better than my best 5K so far.

Speed Feat: Walk 5k in under (whatever my current fastest time is) [For the record, it was 45:44] FREAKING TOASTED AT 43:07!!!

Turns out my distance feat is not currently attainable for me.  The related goal I set in my regular challenge is also proving to be too ambitious.  Need to start a bit smaller and work up to it.  However, I did manage to hit 10k steps walked yesterday!  Am I allowed to revise my feats?  If so, I'm changing it to one day of 10k steps and calling it done (because that was both a big deal and WAY outside of a normal day).  If not, I missed this one.  Time to move on.

I was really hoping for the recovery feat this week. Sunday's and Tuesday's yardwork has me exhausted. I am still planning on biking to work Saturday, and will do some sprints then. If my body has a different idea (i.e. continues to be achey and stupid) then I'll do recovery feat this week and my speed feat next week, if that's ok. :)

5ks three and four are done. Yep I did them back to back. Why? Because I'm dumb. Simple. Mm hmm. No but really, I wanted to see what the time difference would be.

 

Ran the first at what I would call a training pace. Didn't do too bad. After a short break, I ran the second. I pushed to what I thought was a racing pace but ended up being about 30 seconds slower. I felt like I was running all crazy like. I'm honestly just happy to have done it at a run.

So, in the spirit of a Deadpool doesn't care about the rules challenge, I decided to switch things up and did my recovery feat today instead of speed. Mainly because my leg was really bothering me and there was a foam roller thingy right near me at the gym, so I gave it a go. Still needed pain killers for the joint pain, but some of the knotty tension in it seemed to go. Gonna make foam rolling a regular thing, I think. 

 

I do need to do way more cardio than I currently do, though. Gotta learn not to view it with dread, or at best, drudgery...

 

Anyway, sure glad I made it through a post without breaking any rules and posting any deadpool gifs...

After a week long, whole family visit from Pukey the Clown, I'm going to just substitute my recovery goal for my speed goal for the last week.  1/2 Recovery yoga sessions done!  

 

I'm hopeful that I'll be able to do a regular challenge next time around.  Most of the adulting/stressful life stuff should be off of my plate soon. :)

I sort of, ah ... fell off the wagon because of finals week and whatnot ... so yeah, I'm back.

My behind-the-times understanding is that this past week was speed week, so since we're going all Deadpool and adapting the rules as we see fit, and because my speed feat sounds so horrible, I'm going to wait until the last one is posted tomorrow before I officially get back into the loop.

Speed: On this week I will overtake everyone in the blockrun warm-up. (If I need to throw mexican food at the others to trip them up, so be it)

Distance: On this week I will hit 10,000 steps a day, erry day (I can borrow/trade steps within the week if I do more on one day and less on another day coz bite me)

Ranger: Additional day of Chinese study this week. 你好, 我 是 死侍. (There is no direct translation for Deadpool, he is known as dead servant or dead warrior/samuri).

Recovery: Yoga all of the days AND/OR visit the sauna It's only $9 Yasha, stop making excuses AND/OR get a massage.

 

Distance feat achieved, speed feet kinda achieved (we didn't do any blockruns that whole week- whaaaat? But we did this morning AFTER bench and boxing and there was only 2people in front of me and one of them is a maniac (skipped 700skips on a broken foot) and the other is a marathoner, so counting it as a win.)

 

Hello recovery week! Bring on the yoga/steam/massage.

Speed and distance feats did not go so well, but I'm going to her straight on my mindfulness!

Recover feat:  Physical therapy exercises for my back and neck.  Run the full gauntlet twice.  Also, hot tub!

 

Week 4:  I walked all weekend at a Air and Space Museum and a Botanical Garden.  My legs and back were pretty sore, so I was ready for recovery week.  Physical therapy exercises this morning.  I'll do them again on Wednesday.  Maybe I'll do the hot tub tonight after Karate.
