Daily Dare (April 16 - May 20)

21 posts in this topic

Ok everyone, I'm posting this late. I would say that you have until the end of the day on April 20 (your local time) to make up any dares from earlier in the week.

Round 11 of our PVP using the Daily Dares at Darebee.com has started!

All are welcome.  Every day, they post a bodyweight exercise challenge no equipment needed, every day.  Sometimes they're easy, sometimes they're not.

Every day there are two levels of difficulty.  1)  just get it done, over the course of the day, and 2) Extra Credit (EC,) which usually means all in one shot.

Either do one or the other.  You get either 1 or 2 points per day, no more.

Miss the day (in your time zone) and you miss the points.  Need a variation?  Not a problem, but no points for you.

This is an open PVP, so anyone can join at any time. It's a great way to try out a bunch of different bodyweight exercises, and after 2 times through, I've personally found a bunch of new exercises based on what's been really hard.

If you decide to join, declare what rank you're aiming for and sign up on this spreadsheet. Then, just keep track of how many dares you complete throughout the challenge.

If you're not sure about what counts for the dare or extra credit, post here and we'll rule by what seems to make sense to the most of us. Some days you might not be able to do an exercise, and that's ok!  If you like, try modifying or scaling the dare to something you can do. I've added a new column where you can keep track of dares you've modified and completed. The modified dares don't "count' toward "official" totals, but we can still reward you with creative titles if you like. Sometimes Darebee likes to be cute and offer extra extra credit. That's cool...go for it, we'll all be impressed. Let's keep it simple and leave those out of our calculations.

The person with the most points at the end of the challenge will be declared the Daredevil! (other titles are available, inquire within.)

Ok...I think the spreadsheet should be ready to go now.

See above, I proposed a couple days to catch up from Sunday. Up to you all to decide if that seems reasonable or not.

Went for Gold last time and only got Bronze, so I'll split the difference this time and shoot for Silver.

I'll go for silver+ this time (=35). But I haven't done a single one yet, so we'll see.

Tuesday and Wednesday in fact :) . Don't think the tuck jumps would have been too bad if it wasn't leg day!

I'm in for silver. Mainly though I just want to stay with it for the whole challenge for once.

I'm in for titanium and I have been doing the dares as part of my morning routine so happily I don't have to catch up but just continue.   I'm glad the pvp is up and running!  I've added myself and my 5 days of dares to the spreadsheet

I'm here! Gold this time? I got pretty close last time.

I've also been doing the dares as part of my morning routine. Let's see...

16th, crunches. Done, no EC.

17th, squat step-ups. Skipped cause my leg and hip were bothering me.

18th, sky diver push-ups. Big nope.

19th, jump knee tucks. Modified, cautious of jumping. Did knee tucks on floor.

20th, knee in and twists. Done, with EC. Felt it in legs, not core.

And today, swallows. Done, with EC. Vast improvement over that other standing on one leg thing from last month (okay, that's super vague, looked it up, the single leg deadlifts).

22nd, reverse plank leg raises

23rd, palm strikes, EC

24th, side leg raises, EC

Today, raised leg crunches, EC

I hate crunches...

And I need to update here more frequently because I end up forgetting how I did on the dares, and I have not been keeping notes like I should... (I update the spreadsheet right after doing them, but that only gives me numbers, not how I felt.)

Just done the reverse lunges with EC. Given that it's two minutes to midnight I might just wait for the clock to tick over and do tomorrow's too

Hi. I did one of these a few months ago but kinda fell to the wayside a bit. Anyway, hoping it's not too late to join in? Based on days left till May 20th, I think I can just about reach Silver, if I get EC a good number of times. However, that seems a little out of reach for me at the moment, so I'm going to say I'm aiming for Bronze as a rank but overall points, I'll aim for at least 20.

I just had a look at today's dare. I can just about manage one full push up before having to use my knees, so I'm gonna modify it to 10 full regular push-ups throughout the day. No points, but a start at least!

This boat pose hold, do you think the legs should be straight, like in the picture, or would having the knees bent be okay?

I did mine with legs straight, but idk...

I plain forgot to do most of the push ups yesterday. Did maybe 4. But today, I tagged the boat hold onto my workout, and just about managed the full minute all in one. Whole body was trembling like a leaf though!

A question about todays 'Deadlifts' (though I think they could have come up with a more accurate name...) It says to put your hands behind your back and bend forward, but then the picture has the guy with his hands behind his head. Any idea which we should be doing?

I totally missed that...

Good question, do we put more emphasis on the picture or the description? Or we could say either way is fine?

IDK, so I just did it both ways.

(I was thinking the same thing about the name... I wouldn't use a name that's already taken by a completely different exercise... I'd call these "bows".)
