Not so bad, right?!

Not so bad? :o I am in a constant state of awe at how well you are handling things. You just ranger right on. I'm holding out hope on the flat for you, but well done in already getting more viewings and the next trip lined up!

Also, well done on getting that box home from Argos! 11kg is no joke! *thunderous applause*

Sometimes it feels like I transcend the stress and panic and just sort of sit on a little ledge, looking down at it for a while. I like these little breaks, they're enough to let me think logically enough to do said rangering on.

Heh, it sure surprised the folks at the counter, and the people who stopped in rush hour traffic to let me cross the road!

[+-------------------]

[+++-----------------]

[++++++++++----------]

Had a call back about Flat 3, apparently they need a letter as proof that I've been transferred, which is great because what was sent was a one line email... Gonna speak to personnel tomorrow to see what my options are. On the plus side, my landlord has completed his reference request, which is a nice change! Plus I've sent off enquiries for five other properties that I'm hoping to line up viewings for. Hopefully that'll yield some results tomorrow and I can get this next trip properly in motion.

Work itself was interesting. First half of my shift was just fine, then the CO turned up and the atmosphere turned somewhat tense. Fortunately I went for lunch soon after, and no less than ten minutes after I got back, I was roped into helping out the store cafe. Surprisingly enough, I quite enjoyed that. I was just clearing tables, dealing wish dishes, polishing cutlery, and running orders out, but it was a nice change and you could feel the difference in atmosphere with the team down there. So much better for the mind and soul!

...could have done without the woman at the bus stop immediately outside who was absolutely blazing drunk (and apparently tried to enter the store), but we can't win them all!

Aaaand I have actual Saturday night plans for the first time this year (and that is not a joke!). Essentially, one of our new starts and I get on like a house on fire, and she's decided that we both have too much shit going on so we're going to take the one Saturday night we're both off and relax and drink and hopefully get rid of some of said stress. Honestly, it probably means that three drinks in I'll be asleep on the sofa, but it's something to look forward to. +1 social for me!

Speaking of which, I've taken Jarric up on his self care PVP. My brain is too frazzled to work out points tonight, but I'll have something worked up tomorrow before work. Hopefully this will keep me in check as far as looking after myself goes, because I'm really not doing so well with that right now...

Yay for socialising! I hope you have a great time.

Getting a flat seems to be so much of a hassle! How many loops do you need to jump through to be able to get a roof over your head? Ugh. Kudos to you for managing all that.

Your Saturday night plan honestly sounds like just what you need right now. With the stressful environment at your job, I'm glad you have a friend there.

I know you feel like you are flailing, and I understand why, but you actually have a very solid plan in place. You've worked hard to figure things out. It hasn't all come together yet, and you still have a ton of stuff to do, but you've got this. You are incredibly resourceful and resilient.

Lots and lots and lots of loops... I mean, I get them having to confirm I have a job and all, but they've got the details for my current personnel manager who can confirm and give wage details, and they have the number of the new store, which they can call and confirm then transfer (which is what they said they'd do originally...). Hopefully someone can help me pull an email or a letter out of thin air...

And yaaaay, friend plans!! I hope you have a great Saturday!

Thanks :)

Heh, it's been a long time coming, but I reckon it'll be a good night.

I think at this point I'm still waiting for something to go quite drastically wrong. All things considered, being shot down for applications is something I expected and planned for, and although it isn't ideal, things will still move forward. I think I'm just waiting to encounter something that won't let me move forward (whilst also hoping it doesn't come). I don't know. It's a feel of some lurking imminent doom that I really need to get past. But I will.

Gotta love the service industry! I used to work at a dentist that was opposite a pub (and not a very nice pub) and we would get all sorts of characters rolling in after they'd spent all day drinking.

I'm glad you get to let your hair down a bit tomorrow night. Have a good time!

I know, right? You get to meet all sorts of interesting people in the service industry (especially if you're close to a pub...).

I am going to have to look into this. Self care is sometimes such a struggle for me...

I owe you guys a proper update, and it'll happen after work tonight, but for now I just wanted to share the latest I've had on flat three:

Hopefully by tonight I'll have a little more to add to that, but for now...

Thanks guys :D

I've even managed to get a date to sign all the paperwork (and presumably pick up the keys!), so it looks like I'm almost, almost fully sorted out.

I don't think 'relief' is anywhere near strong enough for what I'm feeling right now!

I'm a little late with my update, but considering I started writing it at 11:55pm it still counts! It's Tuesday night until I go for my 2:30am nap.

So. Saturday didn't quite turn out the way I expected. Friday's shift was rough, severely so, and as a result at 1:10am I called in sick for the first time since I started working there (and considering I've been there for over a year, it's not bad). It resulted in a mental health day I sorely needed, followed by a night I thoroughly enjoyed. We basically sat and drank and talked and sang really terribly (and made a fuss of the dog, of course), and I stumbled home at around 3:30am. The hangover wasn't entirely as bad as I was expecting, but neither was it pleasant and it reminded me of why I very rarely drink more than a few at a time nowadays.

Basically, Sunday was a somewhat wasted day.

Monday was a little more productive. I went back to work, endured my returning interview, explained several times why this job was causing me so much stress it was making me ill, and kinda just got on with it.

Today I slept in (to 9am... something of an improvement!). I got up, started pottering about cleaning up for my inspection tomorrow (stress and depression combined in a horrible way meaning I am nowhere near ready, hence staying up basically all night with a couple of naps here and there).

And then came that email.

I cannot even begin to describe how much of a relief this is. I'm signing the paperwork and picking up the keys on the 11th, which gives me a few days to ferry my stuff over (going to have to hire a van, but I don't mind that at all). I've cancelled the viewings I had lined up for this Thursday and Friday, and instead I'm going to use my trip to speak to the bank, scout out my new local patch properly, and relax a little.

But first I have to get through tomorrow. And then we'll see.

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! You finally caught a little bit of luck, but only because you also put in a lot of hard work to set yourself up for it. Well done!

Sounds like things are finally looking up! So happy that you get to move in before you need to vacate your current flat! :)

Hangovers are no fun. But once in a while, they can't hurt. ;)

I'm so glad you are getting out of this place soon, because it sounds like the management not only suck, it sounds like they don't even meet the basic standards for maintaining employee health. If you are telling them that work is making you sick, they have a duty of care to help you manage this stress and work towards resolving it. You shouldn't have to explain it to them several times! I'm sorry for ranting, but this sort of thing really annoys me. I really hope your new place treats you a lot better.

It's got me thinking, if this is what I can achieve in far from ideal circumstances, then what exactly am I capable of achieving in better circumstances? Cannot actually wait to get started!

Aaand I've even got the van booked :D My local car hire company actually loves me right now!

Heh, true, and it isn't like this was an all encompassing process of misery and pain, just kind of uncomfortable.

I keep getting told that everyone is under pressure and we all just have to deal with it, but there's being under pressure and there's being blind, negligent, and dismissive. The CO keeps telling me she understands, but in the same breath tells me it's just something I have to deal with and it'll never change. Not really the kind of thing you want to be communicating to your staff... I'm hoping the next one is better, and if not, it isn't forever. Far more job opportunities where I'm going, thankfully.

Congrats on the flat!!!! So glad to hear that's been settled, it must be a huge weight off your shoulders. It sounds like that mental health day was so much the right choice, and I'm glad you had a good time, even if it resulted in an hangover.

Congrats IATY!!!

Good to hear things are moving in the right direction...

Just wait, you are a Juggernaut that is gaining momentum:

Unstoppable Momentum: Once juggernaut gains momentum, nothing can stop him.
Although things such as large mountains and the Hulk have been able to slow him down,
he still runs forward. On one point,
Juggernaut was reduced to a skeleton and still he did not stop.
