iatetheyeti
[+-------------------] [+++-----------------] [++++++++++----------] Had a call back about Flat 3, apparently they need a letter as proof that I've been transferred, which is great because what was sent was a one line email... Gonna speak to personnel tomorrow to see what my options are. On the plus side, my landlord has completed his reference request, which is a nice change! Plus I've sent off enquiries for five other properties that I'm hoping to line up viewings for. Hopefully that'll yield some results tomorrow and I can get this next trip properly in motion. Work itself was interesting. First half of my shift was just fine, then the CO turned up and the atmosphere turned somewhat tense. Fortunately I went for lunch soon after, and no less than ten minutes after I got back, I was roped into helping out the store cafe. Surprisingly enough, I quite enjoyed that. I was just clearing tables, dealing wish dishes, polishing cutlery, and running orders out, but it was a nice change and you could feel the difference in atmosphere with the team down there. So much better for the mind and soul! ...could have done without the woman at the bus stop immediately outside who was absolutely blazing drunk (and apparently tried to enter the store), but we can't win them all! Aaaand I have actual Saturday night plans for the first time this year (and that is not a joke!). Essentially, one of our new starts and I get on like a house on fire, and she's decided that we both have too much shit going on so we're going to take the one Saturday night we're both off and relax and drink and hopefully get rid of some of said stress. Honestly, it probably means that three drinks in I'll be asleep on the sofa, but it's something to look forward to. +1 social for me! Speaking of which, I've taken Jarric up on his self care PVP. My brain is too frazzled to work out points tonight, but I'll have something worked up tomorrow before work. Hopefully this will keep me in check as far as looking after myself goes, because I'm really not doing so well with that right now... 8 Quote "The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. Xena
Your Saturday night plan honestly sounds like just what you need right now. With the stressful environment at your job, I'm glad you have a friend there. I know you feel like you are flailing, and I understand why, but you actually have a very solid plan in place. You've worked hard to figure things out. It hasn't all come together yet, and you still have a ton of stuff to do, but you've got this. Lots and lots and lots of loops... I mean, I get them having to confirm I have a job and all, but they've got the details for my current personnel manager who can confirm and give wage details, and they have the number of the new store, which they can call and confirm then transfer (which is what they said they'd do originally...). Hopefully someone can help me pull an email or a letter out of thin air... 10 hours ago, NeverThatBored said: Ahhhhh Yeti, your ability to deal with life stress is really an inspiration. Hang tough. All things considered, being shot down for applications is something I expected and planned for, and although it isn't ideal, things will still move forward. I think I'm just waiting to encounter something that won't let me move forward (whilst also hoping it doesn't come). I don't know. iatetheyeti
I'm a little late with my update, but considering I started writing it at 11:55pm it still counts! It's Tuesday night until I go for my 2:30am nap. So. Saturday didn't quite turn out the way I expected. Friday's shift was rough, severely so, and as a result at 1:10am I called in sick for the first time since I started working there (and considering I've been there for over a year, it's not bad). It resulted in a mental health day I sorely needed, followed by a night I thoroughly enjoyed. We basically sat and drank and talked and sang really terribly (and made a fuss of the dog, of course), and I stumbled home at around 3:30am. The hangover wasn't entirely as bad as I was expecting, but neither was it pleasant and it reminded me of why I very rarely drink more than a few at a time nowadays. Basically, Sunday was a somewhat wasted day. Monday was a little more productive. I went back to work, endured my returning interview, explained several times why this job was causing me so much stress it was making me ill, and kinda just got on with it. Today I slept in (to 9am... something of an improvement!). I got up, started pottering about cleaning up for my inspection tomorrow (stress and depression combined in a horrible way meaning I am nowhere near ready, hence staying up basically all night with a couple of naps here and there). And then came that email. I cannot even begin to describe how much of a relief this is. I'm signing the paperwork and picking up the keys on the 11th, which gives me a few days to ferry my stuff over (going to have to hire a van, but I don't mind that at all). I've cancelled the viewings I had lined up for this Thursday and Friday, and instead I'm going to use my trip to speak to the bank, scout out my new local patch properly, and relax a little. But first I have to get through tomorrow. And then we'll see. 7 Quote "The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.
