Tracking XP on your character page

Recommended Posts

Question about tracking XP on character page - how do people manage smaller day-to-day quests? Do you track them there? I'd like to because I think that would add to the gamification aspect, but it seems like completed quests aren't removed from  your page (and if you remove them I think it takes away the XP?) so it could get cluttered. Any tips for breaking down quests into steps or doing smaller daily/weekly quests using the NF character profile? Or alternatives that might be easier to manage? (I've thought about just using Excel or my EQ log here to track instead!)

If you're tracking somewhere else (say in a 4WC or an excel doc), one suggestion is to give yourself points for the daily things there, and then tally them all together for a single quest entry on your NF Character page.

My NF Character page is a mess and I keep meaning to go in and clean it up, but... it's pretty low priority for me rn lol. Honestly I'm not a huge fan of the setup (one long list scrolling down the page, you can't move entries around, you can't collapse epic quest lists, etc) but I do like tracking my experience and I am especially fond of leveling up! I think getting my character page in order so that I can earn that exp would be a great motivator.

There is this whole thing, which kind of indicates smaller/daily quests shouldn't be explicitly listed in the first sub-level under Epic Quests, which jives with the whole clutter issue.

Thanks for the heads up! That is super helpful. I think for right now I'm going to focus on tracking things in my Epic Quest and Battle Log threads here and not so much on the character page, the interface is making me twitchy.

I haven't really caught on to using the character profile though I did set up some quests.  I planned on using it for larger quests and then I follow my day to day quests within the 4 week challege format here.  After each challenge, I grade each goal and assign XP or skill points.  I track it in my signature that you can see below.

Does anyone know how to use the NF Level / Quests (not the Epic Quests) on the character page... or if there is any official way? Or have a link to the forum topic that discusses this?

I've done a lot of these "for the first time" type quests already... like exploring my neighborhood to find a nearby trail hook-up. Would I need to do that again (find another one)? Or can I just rack it up as done? I wouldn't abuse this, for example I'm not going to check off "do a 3-hour hike" until the next time I've done that, even though I've done it before... specifically, I mean the quests that really only happen once, like discover/find/learn-how-to-do/get-certified.

Any links or thoughts, if you have a system for using these, is appreciated!

@LadyShello How's that system working for you? Would you mind pointing me to your latest challenge post? (I looked in your profile, but you like so many things :))

LadyShello's current challenge is here (from the link in her signature):

Regarding the NF Quests, not sure what your question is... you can use them or not, as you like. When you mark a quest as complete, you gain EXP toward your NF level, as opposed to your EQ level. I believe the NF level also includes Academy quests, if you've purchased the Academy.

Mark quests as complete by clicking on the quest and then clicking on the "Mark Complete" button. Use the star to mark quests you're interested in, and then you can use the "show starred only" option to easily return to them. Those quest have pre-determined amounts of EXP attached to them. However, the list is a little awkward, since there are several repeated quests and a few quests that are progressions (for the same amount of exp...)

Ex: 10 second wall handstand - 25 exp. Ten second wall handstand - 25 exp.
Ex: Walk on your hands for 10 meters - 50 exp. Walk on your hands for 25 meters - 50 exp.

Sorry I missed this... Hopefully you found something that worked for you.

I don't really use the character page though I did set one up intending to keep the XP from the character page completely separate from my XP from my challenges.   You can see my challenge Xp directly in my signature.  I have link there too to my epic quest character page but it is quite out of date.
