Does slimfast count since you are only buying shakes, much like you would buy protein bars?

Slim Fast is the only thing I have ever paid for.   I did try Weight Watchers but never joined the program, my mom gave me some of the Jenny Craig food once (so much salt and preservatives!) but I never actually followed the program.

I dunno, I just bundled them all together because I am lazy.

I can't stand the thought of slimfast shakes, and I struggle with protein shakes and it's because when I was little I used to think that because Slimfast was a meal replacement shake, that meant it was a meal, all blitzed up into a dehydrated to a powder. Like a roast or something, shoved in a blender. I obviously know that it isn't now, but I still can't face shakes unless I see them being made in front of me with fresh ingredients.

I meant no judgement with this question though. I know things like that get a bad rap and speaking of them around here is almost like a curse word but I have been mulling over something like Slimming World recently, simply because I know so many people who have had success with it. They often gain the weight back, but it seems like maybe it might be a good way to lose the weight before switching to more Nerd Fitness type ways of maintaining. I'm strongly considering giving it a go.

I didn't take it with any judgment, just over thinking it like any pancake would. ;)

I get what you mean though about those programs.  I think it depends on how well one can transition from something 'diety' to something more sustainable afterwards.  The real reason those fails is that people tend to have inflated expectations and don't learn any real food management skills.  So when they 'finish' the program and have to eat real food, they are right back where they started.  I'd say you wouldn't fall into that trap.  So if it helps you, and you aren't risking a ton of money on it, then it's worth a shot.

Maybe you'll feel more comfortable with this plan. It's a little more work, but a lot healthier than shakes and way tastier. I mean like really tasty :D;)

The only reason I couldn't go on with this program is because my boys liked those smoothies too. A lot. And I couldn't keep up with making so many of them :P

I'm thinking more something like Slimming World because it's still real food and I get to meet some fellow biatches that like to eat too <4

I had never heard of it so I googled it.  It seems a lot like Weight Watchers but uses lists instead of points... which I think is better because you can gain a better understanding of what choices you are making.  WW points probably make sense but they are hidden proprietary logarithms so you can't really learn from it.

ETA - It actually looks like the type of plan I was hoping to work into after my Whole30.  No foods are banned but foods that are counter-productive are limited and healthy whole foods are encouraged and unlimited.

No judgement here. Slimming World looks to be a lot like one of the Weight Watchers iterations (Simply Filling maybe? I've never done one, but I did pick up a cookbook or two because I thought the recipes looked easy - it's fine though, I've never used it). Note, I'm typing and people are beating me..... grrr!

I also know a lot of people who have been successful on programs like this. I think the hardest thing is that unless you continue to eat this way, it doesn't give you a baseline of knowledge to move forward with - which is why I think a lot of people end up gaining the weight back when they stop. If you use it to lose the weight, then transition to something else for maintenance, fantastic!

I did Weight Watchers after my son was born - lost 40 lbs!  It's the same as any diet - if you don't maintain like Sylvaa said, you're going to gain the weight back.  I liked the weekly weigh-in accountability and I did it with a friend.  It wasn't a competition, but it was!

I'm stepping back from being doodlie leader (ok, secretary :P but leader sounds better ;) )

I've got  personal stuff that needs more of my attention.

But fear not! The twin sisters @deftona  and @LadyShello will take over for me.

Good luck ladies! Your reign starts now :D
