imprimis5
Week 4 Monday Update Happy Monday, folks! This was a pretty great weekend, full of excitement and activity. I went running on Saturday, then my husband and I survived the trial of IKEA trip and assembling furniture. Yesterday was a little more chill with some board games with a friend and cooking. Big Picture Challenges Figure out diet. What I've learned since last Tuesday: That I still am having trouble kicking the sugar habit. This is what is standing in my way still, and it's entirely mindset reasons that I haven't stopped. I need to keep better snacks around, or adjust my meals so that I don't need snacks. Sign up and train for a 5k race. Signed up? Training progress. I went running on Saturday. My endurance is so much better than it has been, now that I'm running somewhat regularly. Which is good, since the race is this weekend. Log meals: Note: Anything in bold is not paleo. Yesterday breakfast: Bacon sandwich Calories: 388 Lunch: Kinda forgot and skipped it? Calories: Dinner: Ground beef and onion, sweet potato, banana, Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout Calories: 678 Snacks: Almonds, Breckinridge Vanilla Porter Calories: 299 Little Picture Challenges Run 1-4 miles 1x a week. Two miles on Saturday like a breeze. Gym 5x a week. 5x5 squats, OHP, deadlift. My squat set was great, since I had my body weight on the bar. However, I felt the pain of failure on my OHP, on the last set. Fill Activity ring on Apple Watch every day. And then some. 3 Quote Rangers, ho! imprimis5
Week 4 Tuesday Update The week is in motion. I almost don't know what to do with myself. I'm super caught up at work. My husband is spending all his free time playing Breath of the Wild. I'm just kind of floating. It's weird that I don't have some sort of Thing I Have To Do looming ahead of me. Today is going to be another normal day at work. I'm going to leave around noon to go to the gym. Then I'm going to go home and...? Probably play some video games, I suppose. It's kind of nice. Big Picture Challenges Figure out diet. What I've learned since last Tuesday: Satiety is my watchword right now. I've learned that most of my issues around eating junk are related to satiety. So I need to readjust my eating schedule and also make sure my meals are filling me up. My calorie count is too low on the stuff I should be eating, so I need to watch that. Also, increasing the amount of protein I'm getting is important. Anyone have any tips on managing satiety? Sign up and train for a 5k race. Signed up? Pride 5k is this weekend. I also just got notice that my run for July is open for registration, too. So that's coming. Training progress. I really need to get a couple days of running in this week. Log meals: Note: Anything in bold is not paleo. Yesterday breakfast: Two hard boiled eggs Calories: 156 Lunch: Balsamic pulled pork, mixed veggies, baked sweet potato bits Calories: 391 Dinner: Ground beef and onion, sweet potato, banana, Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout Calories: 678 Snacks: Almonds, watermelon Calories: 248 Little Picture Challenges Run 1-4 miles 1x a week. Gym 5x a week. Trainer time yesterday. He had me doing chest and hamstrings. We've discovered I'm really tight and inflexible on my left shoulder area, so I need to be stretching that more. Fill Activity ring on Apple Watch every day. And then some. 3 Quote Rangers, ho! My Character and Epic Quest My current Challenge Previous Challenges: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Link to comment

imprimis5
Week 4 Tuesday Update Cranky imprimis5 is cranky. Not sure why, but here we are. According to my Apple Watch, I met four of my twelve daily standing hour requirements while I was asleep, so that may have something to do with it. So today is a day where I close the door to my office, put my head down, get work done, and listen to podcasts. One of the dogs has a vet appointment today, so at least that's an excuse to leave a little early. Today's a physical rest day, and I'm kind of grateful for it. My quads are sore, my hamstrings are sore, my chest is sore, everything is sore. I've been pushing myself pretty hard at the gym lately, so it's no surprise. Still, I'm considering going for a run this evening because I make irrational decisions sometimes. Big Picture Challenges Figure out diet. What I've learned since last Tuesday: I need to work more avocado into my diet. No real reason other than I keep forgetting that it's amazing. Anyone have any tips on managing satiety? Sign up and train for a 5k race. Signed up? Pride 5k is this weekend. My moment of frustration is that to pick up my packet, apparently I have to either go to their booth at the Pride festival on Saturday or show up at 6:30 on Sunday morning. I wasn't planning on going to Pride in downtown St. Louis, partially because I hate driving in St. Louis and partially because Pride crowds are suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper anxiety attack inducing. I think I'll suck it up and go in at 6:30 on Sunday, even though that's ridic. At least I'll get a decent parking spot. Training progress. I want at least one more run before Sunday. Log meals: Note: Anything in bold is not paleo. Yesterday breakfast: Two hard boiled eggs Calories: 156 Lunch: Balsamic pulled pork, mixed veggies, baked sweet potato bits Calories: 391 Dinner: Ground beef and onion, sweet potato, banana, Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout Calories: 678 Snacks: Almonds, watermelon Calories: 248 Little Picture Challenges Run 1-4 miles 1x a week. Gym 5x a week. 5x5 squats, bench press, barbell row. 3x10 dips. Fill Activity ring on Apple Watch every day. And then some. 2 Quote Rangers, ho! imprimis5
Week 4 Thursday Update Cranky imprimis5 is still cranky. I guess this is just my life now. Yesterday was a nice rest day, but it didn't really go as planned. Rather than having time to sit around and be antisocial, we ended up going to play board games and have dinner with some friends. So I didn't get a run in. Going to the gym this afternoon for some solo time. Always nice. Big Picture Challenges Figure out diet. What I've learned since last Tuesday: Anyone have any tips on managing satiety? Sign up and train for a 5k race. Signed up? All set for Sunday. Training progress. I want at least one more run before Sunday. Log meals: Note: Anything in bold is not paleo. Yesterday breakfast: Two hard boiled eggs Calories: 156 Lunch: Balsamic pulled pork, mixed veggies, baked sweet potato bits Calories: 391 Dinner: Some kind of pasta dish with peas and bacon. Calories: Can't even really hazard a guess. Snacks: Almonds Calories: 248 Little Picture Challenges Run 1-4 miles 1x a week. Gym 5x a week. Rest day yesterday. Fill Activity ring on Apple Watch every day. No. Forgot to charge it, and it died. 2 Quote Rangers, ho! imprimis5
Week 4 Friday Update Cranky imprimis5 is still cranky. Maybe slightly less cranky? I dunno. I'm still dealing with weird cigarette cravings, and I don't know why. I'm afraid it's self-feeding, at this point. But I've not given in, and I won't. Yesterday I really punished myself at the gym. More work means more endorphins, right? lol Anyway, it was a good workout, and I hope to do another similar one today. Big Picture Challenges Figure out diet. What I've learned since last Tuesday: Anyone have any tips on managing satiety? Sign up and train for a 5k race. Signed up? All set for Sunday. Training progress. Gym 5x a week. Squats, OHP, deadlift, barbell curls, close grip bench press I failed my last OHP set, when I last did this workout. I did not fail this time. Fill Activity ring on Apple Watch every day. Yup. Like whoa. 1 Quote Rangers, ho! My Character and Epic Quest My current Challenge Previous Challenges: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Link to comment

imprimis5
Wrap-up Overall, I think I did reasonably well on this challenge, given the hurdles of travel. Big Picture Challenges Figure out diet. What I've learned since last Tuesday: Well, I've learned that I need more protein in my diet, in general. Also, I need to move the needle more in the green and yellow veggie direction and away from the sweet potato direction. That should help with things in general. Sign up and train for a 5k race. Signed up? I signed up and ran the St. Louis Pride 5k. Training progress. I did it! My final time was 33'34". I got a leg cramp at one point during the run, so that hurt my time a little. Log meals: Note: Anything in bold is not paleo. Yesterday breakfast: I don't even remember. I know I ate something, but I was fixated on running. Calories: ? Lunch: Brie, smoked salmon terrine, carrots Calories: 635 Dinner: Ground beef and onions, carrots, banana Calories: 678 Snacks: Almonds, watermelon Calories: 248 Little Picture Challenges Run 1-4 miles 1x a week. I did pretty well at this, and I want to keep it up. I learned of a running club here in St. Louis that I'm seriously considering joining up with. They run every Saturday in one of the local parks. Gym 5x a week. I'm really good at this one. It's not much of a struggle. Fill Activity ring on Apple Watch every day. Mostly. Travel (especially trans-Atlantic flights) made this one hard. 1 Quote Rangers, ho! My Character and Epic Quest My current Challenge Previous Challenges: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Link to comment
Oramac
Looks like it was definitely a solid challenge, given the travel restrictions. How far does this running club usually run? Might be something for me to look into as well. It's primarily an LGBT group. Everyone's welcome, but it definitely has a target demographic. Quote Rangers, ho!
