Ryuu Apprentices with the Arrow 5/22/17-6/30/17 (7 Weeks)

500/500 hp +  Health potion: 1

 

I've had some some ups and downs over that past few challenges but mainly I have been moving forward. Slowly but forward. I think the four week challenges are a little short to really see and achieve some good progress since I normally slip up on the weeks in between them, so for this challenge I will be focusing on long term consistency. The end of the school year 6/9 and the Tough Mudder 6/10 will be bumps during this challenge as will my two week long summer jobs: Teacher Leader for the NASA Teacher Institute 6/19-23/17, and Teaching a Metal Smithing Art Camp 6/26-30/17. Though since I will be out of town during the last week of my challenge it's going to be very difficult and I'm hopefully that I can keep up my goals.

 

Since I've been re-watching the  Arrow I decided to make this Challenge Arrow themed. If you've never seen the Arrow its pretty good but I especially like it for the workout scenes that Stephen Amell does, whenever I watch him do his workout in the show it always makes me want to do some crazy workouts too. That and his body= #goals lol Hopefully one day. 

 

For this challenge I've decided to keep the HP bar because I like it and I think it helps keep me honest and get a good overview of the quality of my challenge so far, but opted to drop my small goals/ fun money and video game time hours like I've done in the past, not because they weren't useful just that they were really time consuming to implement and keep track of. 

Goal One: Train my Body

I'll be continuing my Gymnastic Bodies Foundations One, Stretch series, Movement, and Handstand training for this challenge but reducing the volume of my movement and handstand courses and focusing more on the upper body, lower body, and core workouts to try and increase my overall strength. 

  • Upper Body, Lower Body, and Core workouts x3 per week (one each) = __/3 = ___/ 21
  • Front Splits, Middle Splits, and Thoracic Bridge Stretches x3 per week (one each) = __/3 = ___/ 21
  • Movement and Handstand Workouts x 1 per week (one each) = ___/1 = __/7 & = ___/1 = __/7

Missed Planned workout on set day -10hp, missed workout for the week -25, Flawless week +25hp 

Goal Two: Fuel my Body

I've had some pretty good success the past two challenges tracking everything that I've eaten in MFP for all seven days and then trying to stay +/- 200 cals of my goal so I will be continuing that this challenge in hope to really solidify it as a habit. I have also noticed that I've begun to drink a lot of diet sodas, mostly as a free "reward" or when I get home from work and am super stressed. I know that diet sodas are not caloric bad but they can't be good for my body so for this challenge I'm going to reduce my consumption of them and for at least the last two weeks abstain from them completely and see how I feel. 

  • Track my Nutrition in MFP x7 per week  =___/7 = ___49
  • Be +/- 200 of 1610 cal goal x6 per week =___/ 6 = ___42
  • Days without a Soda W1 x 3, W2 x 4, W3 x 5, W4 x 6, W5 x6, W6 x7, W 7 x 7 = ___/38

Craft health potion (+50hp) = 6days at goal [for this challenge they can be non-consecutive] , Healthy Choice +10hp, Bad Choice -10hp, Bad Meal -25hp, Bad Day -100hp.

Goal Three: Increase my Activity

For this challenge I'm going to try to increase my overall activity by getting 10,000 steps most days of the week and if my feet will let me sprints/ intervals twice a week. Also what kind of Arrow challenge would this be if I didn't have an archery goal therefore I'll be trying to get out and shoot 2 times each week.

  • 10,000 Steps x6 per week = ___/6 = ____/ 42
  • Sprints x2 per week = ___/2 = ____/14
  • Archery x2 per week = ___/2 = ____/12* Excluding the last week of the challenge since I'll be out of town*

Missed Step goal -10hp, Missed weekly sprints/ Archery -25hp, Flawless Week +25hp 

Goal Four: Upgrade my Arrow Cave Quiver

I'll be continuing my tracking goal, which I think is critical to success, especially the weekly reviews to track my progress. Plus I'll be adding in a few addition sub goals to upgrade my life outside of my workouts. I think the no video game day will initially be hard (mostly to try and find what to do on that day) but after I can get over the initial hump I think I'll really like what I'm able to do and accomplish on those days. I'm not sure if 3 additional sub goals inside this goal is going to be too much but we'll see how I do for the first week and if I have to adjust then I'll adjust if necessary.

  • Track and encourage others x 5 per week =____/ 5 = _____/35
  • Read for 30min+ x 5 per week = ____/ 5 = ___/35
  • No Video Games day x 1 per week = ____1= ____7
  • Throw away some piece of useless clutter x 5 per week = ___/5 = ____35

For this challenge I'm going to award myself cold hard cash ($) at the end of each week based off of my grade for each goal per week. I can either spend this money or save depending what I ultimate want to buy. Some things that I'm looking to possibly get include: Running Shoes or some Archery Block(s), possibly saving up for a new bow. 

A+/100% = $5

A 99-90% =$4

B 89-80% =$3

C 79-70% =$2

D 69-60% =$0

F >60% = -$5

Week 0 Day One: Monday May 22nd

Thanks everyone for such nice words about my Bujo spread. I can't take all the credit it's mostly because of the dot paper, which help makes the boxes super easy. Then it was just a matter of counting out how many boxes each week needed. I do the rough draft in pencil and then go back over everything with rulers and my fancy pens to make it look better :D 

 

Had a pretty good first day of this challenge. Made a pretty nice start to a routine but coming home and immediately doing my 30min of reading, then getting most of the 10,000 steps done. I took a game break afterwards but did get my workout done. Then my GF and I went out to dinner at Red Robin (burger place not Batman's sidekick/ Teen Titans Leader) and got about 50% bad stuff (fried pickles and  sweet potatoes fries) and 50% good (grilled chicken sandwich and brocolli) which actually cancelled each other out and let me just barely stay within my goal cals for the day :D No health lost for day 1. 

 

G1: Got my upper body workout done for today :)

G2: Tracked, was within goal range, and didn't have any soda.

G3: Got 10,000 Steps 

G4: Logged, Read, and Tossed something out.

Week 0 Day Two: Tuesda May 23rd 

Hp: 500/500 Health Potions: 1 

 

Had a very productive Day 2. Decent day at work and I was super excited to get home because Portal Knights came out today (kind of like Minecraft only more RPGish) so I really wanted to play it but I decided to do all of the other stuff I had to do first so I got home and cleaned the living room and kitchen, then I put way the laundry and did all of my workout stuff. I was going to go on a walk to finish off my 10,000 steps but it was raining so I ended up pacing around my apartment till I hit 10,000. Then after everything was finally done I played Portal Knights and it was a ton of fun :) its really Co-op so my GF and I are playing it at the same time which is pretty snazzy and fun to do as a couple :3 

 

G1: Movement and Middle splits done today.

G2: Tracked, was within goal range, and didn't have any soda :D

G3: Got 10,000 Steps even though it was raining from doing all of the chores and intentionally walking some extra during work today. 

G4: Logged, Read, and Tossed something out (a lot of things today as I was cleaning the living room lol) hahaha

Week 0 Day 3: Wednesday May 24th 

Hp: 500/500 Health Potions: 1

Had a significantly less productive day 3 but since I'd already done all of my chores yesterday, there wasn't much cleaning/housework/adulting that I needed to do today anyway. I unfortunately got a little absorbed into Portal Knights and forget to get my 10,000 steps (I got 7,018 yesterday) goal I'm thinking I might make the 10,000 steps an average instead of a strict must hit here everyday but I'll probably decided that later as the challenge continues. I also ended up having a Coke Zero yesterday but that's ok since I was only trying to go 3 days this first week with out any soda.

 

G1: Lower body workout and Front Split Flexibility done today

G2: Tracked ok-ish, GF made dinner and she forgot to write down the amounts that she used for the dish so I had to guesstimate, but was still a home cooked healthy meal so I'm 90% sure I was still within my goal range.

G3: Nothing to report for this goal today

G4: Read, Logged and I forgot to toss something today :/ I'll need to make a big pile of "junk" that I can easily throw away to make this goal easier.

Week 0 Day 4: Thursday May 25th

Today was brutal, but by the strength and force of habits I managed to make it though and have a 100% day, which is even more impressive because of all that life through at me in terms of having an off day. So the day started out pretty dicy since it's so close to the end of the year the students are getting absolutely crazy, mostly just being loud and uncooperative give me a major headache for 90% of the day, but I pushed through and was like "bad days make great workouts" and so when I got off from work I got out my bow and shot a few rounds of archery, then went for 30min of interval training.

Then another wrench flew into the day as I remembered I had the athletic banquet at school this evening so after running I had to rush put back on nice clothes and drive back out to my school for that. By the time it was over it was almost 8pm and I reeeeeallly didn't want to do my handstand or bridge workouts but I was like *f-this* I'm going to feel way worse and hate myself more if I don't do them so I turned it up to 11 and did what I knew I really wanted to do.

Thankfully? This basically meant that I didn't even have time to play any video games today so I get to check that box off by default today, but that's not saying that it wasn't fully mentally challenging to make myself not plop my butt down and play instead of doing my workouts. At the end of the day I'm very please with myself for everything that I was able to accomplish today even with all that life tossed at me. No health lost today! 

 

G1: Handstand and Bridge workouts done.

G2: Tracked and was within my range.

G3: Rocked this one, got 10,000 steps, did some intervals, and did some archery.

G4: Read and logged and tossed something useless too.

Oh NIICE. These are graphic novels I'm assuming? I love comics. :D But they are so expensive for how much time it takes to read them. XD

 

As for what's next. Ya know, I wouldn't be apposed to hearing your reactions in the series... yeah. Ya know, like, whatever man. ;)

Yep. The batman eternal series [3 volumes] is one of the best that I've read in a while but it was quite pricey (their $30 each) but I got them on a BOGO sale so it wasn't as bad lol That is very true when I sit down I can easily finish one in a few hours/ a nice afternoon. haha :D ok then I'll check it out, I need to go back to your post a reread when one I should actually start with, publish or chronological order... decisions decisions

Weekend and Week 0 Review

465/500 hp +  Health potion: 2 Loot: $16

Quite a weekend. It was my GF's b-day weekend plus Memorial day so we were super busy and then exhausted. I've also realized that I may have bitten off more goals than I can chew especially for how busy I'm going to be so I'm scaling back on a few of my goals and eliminating my tossing stuff goal completely, more detail/ explanation to follow in the review. 

 

Friday-Sunday Review. 

On Friday I was just exhausted from my super amount of hard work on Friday and while I wasn't a complete slob I didn't end up getting my 10,000 step goal  and decided to push my core workout to Sunday (-10hp). On Friday I was only over by 250cal which is 50 over my estimated goal but I'm going to give it to myself anyway because I was very good and got my "healthy pizza" and ate that instead of something much worse. Then on Saturday ended up not really being able to track my nutrition because we went to my GF's parents house and they cooked for us so I've no idea how to even go about tracking that lol. Sunday was ok, we had a super lazy day but technically I stayed within my goal range sooooo win :D

 

Goal One: Train my Body 8/8 = 100% = A+ = $5 

Had an almost flawless week, just pushed my core workout to the weekend but other than that did perfectly like I wanted too. :) 

  • Upper Body, Lower Body, and Core workouts x3 per week (one each) = 3/3 = 3/ 21
  • Front Splits, Middle Splits, and Thoracic Bridge Stretches x3 per week (one each) = 3/3 = 3/ 21
  • Movement and Handstand Workouts x 1 per week (one each) = 1/1 = 1/7 & = 1/1 = 1/7

Had a decent week apart from some of my weekend hiccups, but most hiccups were bad but then I made a healthy choice to help off set them so I'd consider that a win of building healthy habits. +1 Health potion :D 

  • Track my Nutrition in MFP x7 per week  =6/7 = 6/ 49
  • Be +/- 200 of 1610 cal goal x6 per week =6/ 6 = 6/ 42
  • Days without a Soda W1 x 3, W2 x 4, W3 x 5, W4 x 6, W5 x6, W6 x7, W 7 x 7 = 3/38

For this goal I'm reducing my 10,000 step goal from 6 --> 5 days per week with an ultimate weekly goal of 60,000 steps, keeping my 2x week sprints for now, but dropping my archery goal to x1 per week. (-25hp for only 1 sprint this week) 

  • 10,000 Steps x6 per week = 4/5 = 4/ 35
  • Sprints x2 per week = 1/2 = 1/14
  • Archery x2 per week = 1/1 = 1/6* Excluding the last week of the challenge since I'll be out of town*

Missed Step goal -10hp, Missed weekly sprints/ Archery -25hp, Flawless Week +25hp 

Goal Four: Upgrade my Arrow Cave Quiver = 100% = A+ = $5

I've decided to remove my throw something away each day for this challenge just because I kept forgetting about it and my mind really wasn't in that goal. I like the idea but I think I'm talking on too many other things to try and do this one too so I'm going to cross it off for this challenge and hopefully bring it back for the next one. Even so because I'm eliminating one goal I'm going to refrain from giving myself my flawless week hp buff to be fair. 

  • Track and encourage others x 5 per week = 5/ 5 = 5/35
  • Read for 30min+ x 5 per week = 5/ 5 = 5/35
  • No Video Games day x 1 per week = 1/1= 1/7
  • Throw away some piece of useless clutter x 5 per week = ___/5 = ____35

Week 1 Day 1: Monday May 30th 

Hp: 440/500 Health Potions: 2 

I was sooo lazy this memorial day and it was so nice >___< basically stayed inside playing Stardew Valley (farming sim) all day. I still got my workout completed but was pretty much a slug  the rest of the day and was off on the rest of my goals. Not the best start to the week, but overall not a bad day considering how relaxing it was to just spend the day doing nothing with my GF. 

 

G1: Upper body workout done today.

G2: Tracked but was over. -25hp for a bad meal. 

G3: Nothing to report for this goal today

G4: Logging now but forgot to read.

Week 1 Day 2: Tuesday May 30th 

Hp: 440/500 Health Potions: 2 

Pretty good Tuesday overall. We started exams this week at school, which are just so draining so I'm amazed that I can push myself to doing any workouts at all. In pretty awesome career news, I got a call for an interview for a HS art position at a local HS this Thursday. :D so wish me luck! 

 

G1: Middle Splits, Movement done today.

G2: Tracked and was within my goal range.

G3: Got 10,000 steps and did a short sprint workout. Unfortunately the bottom of my foot had gotten all tingly again so I'm probably going to have to back off this sprint goal entirely but we'll see.

G4: Logged now and read.
