WEEK 1 IN THE BOOKS!

TRAIN LIKE SHIROU

2d6d766edd94c4901aa01d07310a0ce2550ad35c

ACTIVITY GOALS: 6x / week

By the end of the week, I opted to count my 3 mile walk on Tuesday as an active day instead of a rest day.   (It feels a bit like cheating, but I still reached 2200 calories burned that day!)   This allowed me to count Sat. at the b-day party as my rest day.   It was just lots of driving, and sitting around, and eating.

TOTALS 6/6

Bike - Walk - Lift - Run - Bike - Rest - Hockey

LEGITIMATE REST DAY 1x / week

I think that a day of nothing but hanging out and eating counts as rest, lol!

TOTALS 1/1

PRACTICE LIKE RIN

tumblr_nhukprytOB1tyak95o2_r1_500.gif

ART GOALS  4x / week

Still not feeling super great about my art lately, but I did manage to get four days in.   Some longer than others.

TOTALS 4/4

D&D PREP WORK  1x / week

Don't know when we are playing next, and I had MEANT to get some notes down or work up more NPCs, but it didn't happen this week.

TOTALS 0/1

COSTUME WORK   3x / challenge

Nothing yet.  No worries.   We did TALK about costumes on Saturday though, and it looks like we may be doing the Black Widow / Deadpool combo.   I should still work on the Jedi stuff, just because.

CONQUER MY ARCHER

cf78dbc9d40c24740e0696d2f0cc9303.gif

AFFIRMATIONS  7x / week

All 7 days were good this week.  Chapter read, affirmations written!

TOTALS 7/7

PUCK LOVE, BOLD EDITION  1x / week

Um, heck yeah I did this.   I shared a pic that showed my tummy!  o.o

TOTALS 1/1

BEYOND THE BOUNDARY   3x / challenge

Calling it a warm up, but choosing to do that bike ride with only the sports bra was definitely beyond my usual boundaries.

EAT TO PERFORM   7x / week

I have done so much better with getting more calories into me!  And so far, the scale has not screamed upwards!  I even went back and tracked my awful Saturday just to get 7 full tracking days!

Calories in from last week: 2000, 1800, 1800, 1900, 2000, 2500, 2500 - um, whoa!

TOTALS 7/7

KEEP UP NIGHTLY REGIME   7x / week

Face, lotion, brushing teef, all good.   I've been trying to floss more - and this is the thing that get dropped if it's late or I am tired.  I would like to get 3-4x a week, but we're not there yet.

TOTALS 7/7

ODDS AND ENDS

- Buy tickets for Wizard World

- Plan August trip.

- Research new bike.

- Buy new bike for August trip.

- Clean out closet.

- Go through clothes, recycle, toss, etc.

- Finish leather pouch for Jedi costume (requires a snap install)

- Research suburban Improv Class *

- Clean up PC, files, pics, etc.

Oh hmm!  I managed to knock out two of these odds and ends too.     Nice!    A really good week was had!   It went by so fast that I feel like some of the days were eons ago.   Like, I fit so much into the week it must have been months.   A really solid start, but I have to not let the good weather strip me of my goals.   I need to savor the sun and summer - but not forego other things just because of.   So this week, if there is a lift day that is also a sunny day, I am gonna go do a playground workout or something.   Or... make sure that I get a walk in before or after work so I can lift in the warehouse.    I'm making such progress with the lifts, I can't afford to drop down to like 1x a week with it.

This week starts my 2x a week for sure hockey weeks.  Wed. and Fri. will have hockey at night, which means I can use the lunch hour to take a leisurely outside walk!   I've been debating on the idea of doubling up and lifting AND hockeying the same day, but that means I'd have to find a way to eat like 3000 calories and that's just not going to happen.

Anyway!   Off to week 2!   Super excited to see what it brings us!

The reverse grip is, sadly, not particularly effective in real life martial arts.  But damned if it doesn't look awesome!!

Yeah Form III definitely owns. Although as a former fencer, I find Form II (Makashi) very proper and just plain awesome. Too bad it fails completely in group combat.....

(also I really love being able to obsess with others over lightsaber forms... I may be a teeny bit obsessed :P)

True, Obi-Wan was a practitioner of Soresu, though he originally studied Ataru like his master Qui-Gon Jin - that's what they used in the fight against Maul, and ultimately why Obi-Wan adopted Soresu more so going forward.   *adjusts nerd glasses ala anime style*

All of the highfives, yes!

Ataru was another form that could easily implement the reverse grip.    Plus all the su mas!  (That's flipping and cartwheeling and rolling for the uninitiated.)

Speaking of such things... OMG Wonder Woman would be an amazing Ataru practitioner!    Add in a bit of Shien/Djem-So for the reflecting bullets and aggressive counters.

Uh oh.  Crossing genres!

Indeed you are correct!  Obi-wan blamed Ataru for Qui-gon's death, thus his switch to Soresu.

Thematically, the reverse grip is awesome.  Looks cool and is really fun.  Mechanically, it's pretty inferior to a standard grip though.  I say this with sadness, as I spent a good deal of time trying to find a way to make it work.  Which isn't to say it's useless.  There are times it's very effective.  It's just that they're usually transitional techniques.

Personally, I love me some Djem So!

*Disclaimer* this is only my personal understanding of the mechanics.

Monday Final Recap

Food - Tracked and within range.  Less of a deficit than usual but I was starving after the movie.   Burned 2100, Consumed 1820.

Activity - 2 mile walk up to Target and back, probably another half mile of steps inside shopping.  Counting it.

Bujo & Night Routine - Done and Done.

Affirmation - Yup, all good.  The chapter was so long this morning!

Art - I decided to try something fun with the shading/lighting on this pic.    It's a start.    I may look up some examples tomorrow to see what needs tweaking.

Went to see WW with my friend.  I'm not a DC fan by any stretch, but ... um, I really liked this movie.  There were a couple things I wish they'd have done different, but I realize they need to appeal to a wide range of fans.   I'm also a big Chris Pine fan.   That was cool- didn't know he was in it, because I am so anti-DC.   Had a GREAT time with my bestie.   It reminded me of our grade school movie outings and just put the biggest smile on my face.

I ate what I think was the healthiest frozen dinner entree I could find before I went to the movie.  (Straight from work, started at 5:45 and I got home at 8:40!)   I snuck a Luna Protein bar in between my boobs and had that at about 7, but when I got home I was legit hangry.   Made a pb&j on my sprouted grain bread and said to myself, "The body wants what it needs.   Frak the calories and feed it!"    Tomorrow will be a more routine day and that'll feel good food wise.

Here's the sneak peek at Kessa:The Contract;  I just want to tweak some things and try to improve on the shading and what not.   Also - haven't shaded her clothing yet at all so, there's that too.

That cosplay is epic - just wow.

Sounds like you had a great night! I'm not much of a DC fan either, but after seeing your thoughts on the movie I'll probably rent WW once it comes out. At least to give it a chance....

The lighting angle you are using is pretty cool. Definitely more challenging than the "traditional" lighting angles. Looking good so far, I'm excited to see the finished work.

So, the only DC thing I'm really a fan of is Batman. I LOVE Batman... other than that I'm more of a Marvel person. I do enjoy the Justice League sometimes too. Generally the Superman/Wonder Woman thing isn't my fandom, but I agree that the movie was awesome. I also love Chris Pine! Hubba hubba... Hotness and decent actor in my opinion. :)

The DC movies generally suck... so I wasn't really looking forward to this movie, but I LOVED it.

Tuesday Final Recap

Food - Tracked and should be within range I think.   Ate all my usual stuff, numbers pending until later.

Activity - Got a lifting session in at lunch.  Everything felt so hard.

Workout Details:

  • Pull Ups - 5, 5P, 5S, ~4P  (*P=pause at mid descent, S=slow descent)  **
  • Push Ups - 4 x 10  (This is at a lower incline now, two Rogue45# plates stacked on each other is the height.)
  • Weighted Lunges -  4 x 8e x 40# total (20# each hand) * OMG, much breathless.
  • RC Sit Ups (12#) - 10, 12, 13, 12
  • Deadlifts - 4 x 5 x 115#  *These suckers felt ridiculously hard and heavy.    Didn't I do 125 last week?  What up with that?

EDIT:  LOL - My best dead lifts were at 95... woops.  Guess I jumped up a bit much!   It was my squats at 120 >.>

**On pull ups- Still having pain in that spot on my forearm, so I tried a few different grip widths... narrower hurts less it seems, but is way harder, lol!

Bujo & Night Routine - Done and TBD.

Affirmation - Yup, all good.  Finished with 1 Corinthians!

Art - Finished The Contract.   Things I added; more texture to the back wall to make it look like an underground hideout, the inked "Midnight Surprise" symbol with the eyeball in it, along with Kessa's call sign (III) and the number of contracts she has completed etched in below it.   Added the remaining shading bits and highlighted bits, and then felt like the skin needed to be darkened just a bit overall.   Easy peasy with the base skin layer!   Woohoo for using program tools.   I think I really like how this one came out in the end!

It's 7:20 now and we're having a late dinner of bison burgers!    (The sides he made to go with it were Doritos... ) so I am probably just gonna eat a big fatty fat burger and call it a day!    Then some Andromeda, finally!

I got a bunch of work done on plotting out my trip to Theodore Roosevelt Nat'l Park in August too.   All that's left is final routes, lodging and maps!    Plan is:

Friday 5pm - leave and travel 5 hours to Preston, MN

Saturday 9:30am - Mystery Cave Tour 1 hour. - Then drive the rest of the way to the NP (10 hours)

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - Hang out, bike, hike, relax, do some excursions and hopefully stay in a rustic ranch-y AirBnB.

Wednesday - Head back, drive 10 hours and stop in Preston again, lol.

Thursday - Early morning Niagara Cave Tour, then 5 hour drive home - in time for D&D night.

Yes... I plot my trips around gaming... I won't miss more than ONE session of either game. ;)

OMG Master Puck! I LOVE your artwork so much! I still think this is my favorite so far. I really like the background cracks in the walls and the marks on the walls ticking off days. I think the only thing I might change is around the cracks maybe make it look a little weathered, like paint fading or chipping off to indicate age or something. The lighting is very interesting.

Yay for work outs and lifts. It sucks that your still having trouble with your arm and whatnot.

You're doing super awesome on your challenge this time. I LOVE IT! Killing it, Sensei!!!!

Calling on DM's and RPG'ers who may be on this thread!

Yes... you!  Stop lurking, it's your time to post!

I am building up a sell sheet of what my charming traveling salesperson is capable of selling and I would LOVE some of your custom magic items!     Here's the scoop.  My world is VERY magic light right now.    Even divine magic is so rare, many people believe it to be a myth.   Druidic magic vanished hundreds of years ago and arcane magic is thought to be so rare that those who show talent for it, are scooped up at an early age and whisked away to gods knows where to be taught by their various Empires and Kingdoms.

But... there are tinkerers, dabblers who keep their work on the down low, and Taryon Von Shiro is one such dabbler.   Kept busy in his shop, he sends his sales reps out to deliver his goods, but tells them not of what enchantments his fine works possess!

The name of his shop is:  Taryon's Tapestries and Trinkets

Mostly he sells items made of fabric and cloth and other such material.

Items he has already pitched at the party:

- The Starry Night Tent :  Guaranteed to give you the best rest a night traveling can afford.    Remain undisturbed from dusk til dawn as you close the flaps of this brilliantly patterned silken tent.    The fabric is a dark navy blue, weaved with the sparkles of star dust so that when looks upon the tent, they see nothing but the starry sky beyond.

The party assumed it had a hole in it.   What it actually does is act as an illusion when viewed from the outside.   If the flaps are tied shut, the tent takes on the appearance of whatever lies in the backdrop of the horizon, as well as silents all sounds within the tent.      Essentially, the only way someone would discover the tent there, is if they walked right into it!

- Double Weaved Bed Roll:  The softest and most luxurious of bedrolls, no sane adventurer travels without it!   Two silken layers of material, weaved masterfully around the rare down of a yeti that provides warmth on the coldest of nights, and blissful coolness in the heat of summer.   A perfect night of sleep is sure to be had within this restorative paradise of perfection.

Since yeti are more myth than fact, they assumed lies, but our bard bought it anyway.    What it actually does?  For starters, it does what it promised to do... no cold or heat affects while in this bedroll.   But more than that, it's actually so comfortable, that even a short nap (short rest) within it can clear ALL levels of exhaustion.  In addition, when used during a short rest, any HD used to replenish hit points are automatically doubled, and spell casters may find that 1d4 spell levels are returned, even if their class does not allow spell recovery during a short rest.  (If their class does, this is above and beyond the recovery limit.)

Some of the actual magic items I may throw in there include:

Bag of Tricks

Handy Haversack

Robe of Useful Things

Rope of Climbing

Wind Fan

So, as you can see, I'm looking for 'fabricy' type of items.       Alright!  Roll for initiative!

o_O  That's actually really powerful.  Like, wow.  Give it to a Frenzy Barbarian, Wizard/Sorcerer/Druid/Cleric, and they're going to be much, much more effective.  You also probably need to specify that the "no heat or cold affects you" thing doesn't apply to magical damage (Fire/Cold damage). Otherwise it basically makes you immune to some of the most common damage types in the game.

Also, you need the 36 page List of Mostly Useless Magic Items

And of course, you're more than welcome to use any of my magic items you like.  Though not all of them are applicable in a low-magic world.  I DID just update it all today though!

Don't forget the Nomenclature Necktie, a cravat that helps you know the name of anyone to whom the wearer speaks. (-1 to CHA though cause it's a really tacky pattern).

There is also the HeadBand of Bending Over, which allows the wearer to make someone's socks fall down up to 3 times per day.

The Suit of Suave: very sharp three-piece suit (whether that's appropriate for your setting or not) that gives you +10 Charisma. Because who doesn't think those are classy?

Incendiary gloves, a la Colonel Roy Mustang. Gameplay mechanics TBD. Maybe a certain number of fireball castings per day, with the trigger being snapping the fingers?

Hmm... I don't usually use magical items like that in my games. I guess I have a time or two... I may have to introduce some to my game. Again, I don't usually play D&D or Pathfinder.
