Thanks for the well wishes guys.

The worst part of this, is the brain that wants to be doing ALL THE THINGS vs the body that is like, Hahaha you can do nothing!    I was in SUCH a good groove.  Like serious ass kicking groove and now it's like... ya know when you're in a pool on a hot summer day and the water is fine because you've been in there forever.  But you get out for the 30 minutes swim break and you get all sun-warmed and then when you go back to the water it feels freezing and uninviting?  Yeah.  That's gonna happen.

The clinic yesterday confirmed what I already knew.   The URI running its course ended up triggering a bacterial middle ear infection.   So I am on some strong Penicillin to get that cleared up (and should stop the URI from turning into any other side-related illness) but at Day 6 I am just so impatient now.  I want to feel better. Now. Right now.  This very second now.

I canceled all my hockey for the weekend, and so now all I have going on is; hopefully running my D&D game Sat. (I need my ear to be less muffled/foggy-headed for that) and then maybe some bike shopping on Sunday.   Also on the agenda is to wash ALL the linens in the house, clean the room, spray it down and get ready for a new week.

Me, facing week 4 while still sick.

ACTIVITY GOALS: 6x / week

I have been sick ALL week. I did not do ANYTHING other than work, video game, anime and prep D&D.    In fact, my average daily burn was only 1900 calories, and by the back half of the week I gave up tracking.      I am feeling less run down now, but my sinuses and inner ears are still all blocked and clogged and so my hearing is off and my head feels fuzzy.

LEGITIMATE REST DAY 1x / week

Lol, all seven?    I don't think it counts, but it's funny.

TOTALS 7/1

PRACTICE LIKE RIN

ART GOALS  4x / week

I did get 3 days of art in, working on inking and coloring various unfinished projects.   I am feeling a bit more art floon come back, but I am unsure if the skill/technique will come with it.

TOTALS 3/4

D&D PREP WORK  1x / week

I got a lot of prep work in this week.  I mean  A LOT.   I also ran the game on Saturday and it went so so well!  I had them at the edge of their seats.  They were scared for their lives, playing smart, interacting with the NPCs and finding stuff out!   My one player even said, "Man that was an exciting night!" at the end!   And my other wanted me to keep going all night until it was time for church.

TOTALS 5/1

COSTUME WORK   3x / challenge

Haven't done anything.  But there is also Star Wars night at the Sox park on Aug 26th.  I'd like to do some work on this.

Only tracked the first half of the week.  Illness won out after that.

KEEP UP NIGHTLY REGIME   7x / week

I just didn't feel like washing my puffy swollen foggy face every night.   And my tooth brush looked like a petrie dish.

- Research suburban Improv Class *

- Clean up PC, files, pics, etc.

Not a great week.  I can't believe I got THIS sick in the middle of a beautiful summer!     I am feeling much better than last week, but I am not at 100% yet.    Not by a long shot.  I feel like I've lost a ton of strength and energy, and I hate that feeling.  God I feel so weak right now.   My right ear (the one with the infection) no longer hurts but still has as much pressure and fullness and stuffiness as it did last week.  I can't hear well out of that ear, and it just throws off my head and junk.   I feel off.    Feeling off totally deflates any sort of motivation to go and do stuff.   Likewise, the loss of energy.    I was thinking of trying a walk today, but it looks like it's clouding up early and we're due for rain.     I really don't want to drag this laziness into two weeks... so I need to see what I can do with what I've got.

Ugh!  Don't even know where to start.

Doing nothing is actually the best thing you can do right now. Plague protocols exist for a reason. You feel weak because your body is devoting all it's energy to fighting the infection and healing.

Let it.

You're doing fine, Master Puck. Just healing and resting SUCKS but it's what is best. If you don't, it'll take longer for you to get back on your feet and lifting. Let your body do its thing.

New Bike! I want a bike... maybe next year. I'll need a bike rack and somewhere to put it. I'm thinking that once we get a new storage shed I can get a bike to go in it. :)

See Oramac's signature for my thoughts (ie. I Agree with Tank).

It's not laziness, it's prudence. Let your body fight off the nastiness, do what you can/what you have energy for (and if that's eating and sleeping only, then so be it), and when your body's ready, jump back on the train with both feet. Maybe you've lost a little here, a little there, maybe you just need to remind your body how to direct it's energy outward instead of inward, but either way, you will get back to where you were, and you will get to where you want to be.

Got back onto track a bit today.

Ear is still freaking blocked and full of pressure and it's making me GO BATTY!!!!

Week 4, Day 1

Food - Tracked again today.   Didn't fuss too much on getting lots of protein, mostly because I am also just not doing much yet.

Activity - Took a walk outside.  Just leisure.  2.45 miles.  Felt okay with it.   Chest was a bit wheezy, ears bleh.

Bujo & Night Routine - Should be done no problem.

Affirmation - Wrote the thing, read the thing.

Art - I put my nose to the tablet and finished up the thing I was working on.   When I draw stuff for just me and my whims, it's so much easier, lol...   When I draw stuff for others, I always want it to be perfect, and never quite get it there.      But!   Someone had a birthday this past weekend, and I had hoped to have this done by then.   Just a couple days later!   Happy Birthday @Tanktimus the Encourager!!

Hey hey! Sorry I went MIA for 2 weeks, but I'm here to let you know a few things

  1. I love the pics of you smiling and being happy
  2. I wish I had your arms
  3. Being still is the best thing you can do to help your body fight off this infection! Sucks because your brain wants to move, but as it was mentioned earlier, your feeling of a lack of energy is your body focusing its efforts towards fighting this illness
  4. Your art is, as always, Fantastic!

Tried a light workout at lunch.  Got through it.  A little woozy but I think that's because the stuffed ears throw off balance so much.  Now the tummy is upset, but... dizziness + antibiotics + Sudafed + advil?   Yeah.   Big surprise there.

Going to eat my lunch and organize my BuJo - The last week fell apart with keeping up with it and this week doesn't feel like it's gonna do much better.  But, I found on Amazon, preprinted calendar pages for my size disc journal, for July 2017-June 2018!  So I got those and I am going to fill stuff in on them to get my BuJoMoJo going again.

Week 4, Day 2

Food - Tracked.  Bleh.  Not feeling it.

Activity - Did the light workout.   Would have been fine... if the ear thing wasn't making me dizzy and off.

Bujo & Night Routine - Probably.

Affirmation - Yeah, yeah.

Art - Guys, my art is just sucking so bad lately.  I am keeping at it.   But it's hard when everything you do is disappointing you.  Rough sketch of some character ideas me and Oramac have been tossing around.  Druid and Ranger half elf twins.      Practice time logged.  We'll see if I stick with this sketch or just start over tomorrow.

You guys are just... being... Nerds!  That's all!      Like, my last one of Kessa?  That was a good one!   But the rest I've been doing have felt so subpar.    I guess I need to remind myself that, just like in all things, Progress is not .. (ohgod) Linear in art either!     (That deserves the God Slayer Pun face!)

Z3Rwtj2.jpg

So guys, news....    I had such an amazing start to this challenge, then I got sick, and then I just said frak it.   Now that's not to say I've totally given up... but the mental energy to track every last little thing just vanished.   I haven't given in to pigging out (not really- had a few moments on a couple days, but mostly I have just been eating what I usually do).    I tried walking on Monday (okay) and lifting on Tuesday (dizzying).

I spoke with the RN at my ENT today.   Explained everything in hopes of an appointment to get some relief.    Sadly?   There is no quick fix for this.  They said that after a sinus infection/ear infection - that the build up of fluid and pressure in the eustachian tubes can take up to 6+ weeks to resolve and it's just a matter of waiting it out.    They said to continue doing what I am doing: lots of fluids, decongestants, and to specifically aim my nasal spray toward my ears rather than my sinuses, spray, sniff, then perform the Valsava maneuver to force the decongestant spray to the problem area.

So what that means, is I have to deal with this long term - and the fuzziness it's causing me makes me really feel not myself.   But, it's a beautiful summer here... so I have to, to the best of my ability, and while still listening to my body and the limits it wants while it equalizes this madness, just try to live on.   So, I am going to play hockey tomorrow night (it's a low pressure, just for fun cross ice 3 on 3 league).   If that goes well, I will play my Coed league game on Sunday.   I will do a bike ride or the zoo on Saturday and just take it easy if I feel weird.   I'll do some lifting but stop if I get to feeling REALLY dizzy from the head business.

It's really hard to explain.   But the pressure, loss of hearing-muffled thing plus the semi dizzy, lightheaded feeling makes it really hard to focus and do my daily routine.  I just feel fuzzy.   And that's a real blow to motivation and inspiration.      I have two choices...    take a break until everything is 100% normal again- losing strength, and fitness and progress.     Do what I can, and keep working toward my goals despite things not being perfectly lined up.    This is a thing I need to work on anyway!

So - probably going to coast the rest of the challenge, let my disappointment run its course, and then get back to focusing on what I can focus on.

I want to say "take a break and heal first" its going to suck because you're going to feel like you're falling behind, but if you continue to push yourself, then there's a good chance you can make yourself worse or just pain prolong the illness

Aw, sorry. Having allergies, I've dealt with this quite a bit. I vote for taking the middle ground. Since you don't have an infection anymore, and it's just a matter of clearing the gunk out, it really is a good idea to move some. Just listen to your body, if your tired and fuzzy feeling, don't keep pushing it. If  you feel up to it then do activities to a comfort level.

Ugh sorry to hear about the delay in healing. Fingers crossed for you that it won't take the full 6 weeks for the gunk to clear up.

Be safe in ramping back up to normal activity level!

Sorry you're ill, ear infections really really suck. I hope the recovery is swift for you - listen to your body, do what you can and try not to push too hard *hugs*

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

Yo guys.

Still here.

More or less.   LOL.

Ear Still Blocked Solid and it is DRIVING ME CRAZY!        I've not been tracking food, but I've been eating pretty decently.   Well, except for Sunday's game night, but I DID play hockey before hand, and I otherwise ate really well that day.      Skated on Friday and Saturday, did a bike ride on Saturday.   The hockey was obviously more all out exercise, but the bike ride was super chill.  And chilly!       The cold air definitely bothered the cranky ear.

I am trying to think up my next challenge;  I just have such a hard time focusing right now since my head feels off.     And thusly, I don't think I will do a proper wrap up on this challenge because it ended so flat!

So, yesterday I did a bunch of work on D&D stuff, made up my list of items for purchase at Leonard E Lattimer's Wagon Shoppe.   Since my world is magic light, the descriptions have to seem mundane. ;)   Behind the Spoiler because it's long.

Spoiler

Taryons Tapestries and Trinkets

“Double Weaved Bed Roll” - The softest and most luxurious of bedrolls, no sane adventurer travels without it.   Two silken layers of material, weaved around the rare down of a yet.  A perfect night of sleep is sure to be found within this restorative paradise of perfection.    10g

“Starry Night Tent” - Guaranteed to give you the best rest a night in the wilds can afford.   Remain undisturbed from dusk to dawn as you close the flaps of this silken tent.   The fabric is a dark navy blue, weaved with the sparkles of star dust so that when looks upon the tent, they see nothing but the starry sky beyond.   50g

“The Grey-Test of Bags” - It’s a bag, it’s grey.  It’s wonderful!    Or is the term wondrous?    This bag will surely never tear or fail you.   It will quickly become a faithful companion on your journeys.      50g

“The Halfer Sack” - This sack takes half of the load off your shoulders while carrying it!  Or perhaps it is only large enough for half-day journeys.    Taking a longer jaunt?  Try the full-proof sack.   500g

“The Full Proof Sack” - Not yet available,  due into stores sometime around Newseason, year of the Silver Wind.

“Feather-light Silken Rope” - 60’ of masterfully crafted spider silk rope!   Why spider silk? Because it’s so much lighter than standard roping!   Carry this life saving accessory with less effort than toting around a fat duck!   100g

“Fan of Greater Cooling” - It sounds magical, because… when the temperatures are simply too much to bear, this fan is sure to cool you and all of your friends off!   How magical is that?!  Adult supervision recommended.      100g

“Billowing Cloak” - A cloak of exquisite crafting and material, that will billow and flow around its wearer in the most dramatic of ways.  Its light material is sure to leave you looking noble and heroic.    50g

“Mindful Robe” - Whereas the billowing cloak is certain to draw eyes and attention, this is a covering for a more conservative and studious wearer.   Designed to lay across the shoulders, this crimson red cloak cascades unassumingly to the floor, in a cunning and resourceful manner.    200G

“Gnome & Clay Sure Tie” - A brightly colored and somewhat tacky tie that can be worn as a hanging tie or bow tie and is so easy to tie that even a child can get it on the first try!   The fabric is produced and sold by a gnomish vendor from across the sea, and the pattern for the tie comes from a tailor by the name of Roman Clay.    The fashions of abroad are sure to make it to Concordis, so get this wonderful tie before they sell out.     5G

“Incendiary Gloves” - So named for their provocative style and bold looks, these beautiful white silk gloves are embroidered with red stitching in a small pattern of stylized alchemical formulas.   The gloves fit any size hand with perfection and while stylish, also provide protection from dirt, cold and blisters.     500G

And today, inspired by Sunday's Star Wars game where my character took a wicked blow to the head from a vibro sword wielding dark side user, I started up a sketch that I'll get to add a bunch of blood to her face on!

Hoping to get some mental energy to plan up the challenge.   Maybe tomorrow I will get it up and going!
