The Scarlet Pimpernel Plays Tetris... Again!

So last challenge was quite successful in keeping me focused on my goals, while allowing me the flexibility to enjoy myself and not get burnt out. So I decided to continue it for one more challenge! Here's what happened last game:

And just as a refresher, here's Da Rulez again:

Spoiler

The Rules:

1. 3 random tetronimoes (just learned that's what they're called!) drop each day, one each for protein, carbs, and fat

2. If I'm within 10% for a given Macro, I can place that block anywhere it fits on the bottom of the screen. If I am outside 10% then the block drops automatically down the center of the board
3. Doing my daily stretching allows me the ability to rotate all the tetronimoes for that day
4. Actions Per Day (APD) average for the week gives me that number of bonus squares that I can use to fill in holes to complete rows.
5. Completed rows are tallied and scored 1 point each at the end of the challenge. The number of completed mindset quests at challenge end forms a score multiplier (ex. 2 quests = 2x number of rows completed, 5 quests = 5x, etc.)
6. If the block pile reaches the top of the screen I lose any previously accumulated points and start over.

Goal score: 150

The actual score number will be mostly driven by mindset quests, but it'll be important that I don't reach the top, so the macros that are the focus of the challenge become more important.

Example end-of-week screen:

HaTZG.png
APD average = 7, so I get to insert 7 squares:

LZ37D.png
5 rows completed and disappear, so my running score is 5, the rows disappear, and my board for next week is:

Hd3sz.png

So that's it! It's a bit labour intensive, so I can't promise that I'll update every day, but I will follow the rules, and at least get a weekly board up!

We'll see if I can beat my final score from last challenge!

So far not too bad - I went a bit overboard on the long weekend Monday, but the rest of the week has been ok.

So zero week didn't go so hot. I'm going to write it off as a loss and get ready to kick butt this week. I'll start with a new board today, and should have an update wednesday!

That is a very strange way to format a challenge... I like it! But I hope you tell us which tetrominos you got and how you droped them each day!

I haven't been able to get on here as much recently, so it's mostly been twice weekly updates. I'll generally give an idea as to which days were good or bad though.

The week thus far:

yHJgK.png

So far this week has been much better than last week! I've been sticking to my goals within the margin of error, but definitely leaning on the higher side. I'm really tired of gaining and losing the same 3lbs, so I hope I can keep consistent for the rest of the challenge. I could also definitely get some more exercise in, but school has been very busy and my back has still been hurting, so I'm focusing on trying to stretch consistently. Still not seeing the progress I'd like, but I'm hoping persistence will pay off.

Have a good week!

Week 1 Report (part I):

End of week board:

02peT.png

Not too bad this week! Went off the rails a bit yesterday. That always seems to happen when I go to my in-laws. I guess it's a mix of abundant free and delicious food and context reinforcing the habit. The rest of the week was quite good though, and I lost about a pound. I don't have my APD record sheet with me, so I'll have to finish the weekly scoring tomorrow. I did do another mindset quest though, so that's at least a start.

Sorry I didn't get a mid-week update in, but here's the week 2 report!

End of week board:

I8DyE.png

Overall the week didn't seem too bad, but there were a few off days. I find that my post-call days are often bad (probably understandable after working for 24 hours straight) - once I wake up I'm ravenous and I just eat whatever is convenient (usually not too healthy) and too much of it. I stayed about the same weight this week, which I guess wasn't too unexpected. I wish I could make some more progress in that department though.

APD average score for the week: 8

2NtS.png

Weekly Score: 8

Cumulative Score: 14

I also did another mindset quest this week, but I'll keep working on those!

New Board:

n1wm6.png

Well, that was the week. Not too bad, but could have been better. I might decrease my overall calorie count a bit to make sure that my 10% flexibility on the macros still fits in a deficit. It was nice to have the mini to encourage some exercise this week too. Still not a ton, as it's not my current focus, but I've been making some slow progress on pushups! (until I hurt my shoulder... but hopefully that'll resolve soon)

Sorry to hear you hurt your shoulder, Hope that clears up soon. I can't imagine working 24 hours straight, so no surprise you're ravenous after that. Would having pre-made meals ready for consumption help in that case? Overall, looks like week 2 was pretty good. How's this week coming?

Yah pre-made meals probably would help, I might be trying to insert more of that into my next challenge. I also need to get my wife on board a bit more so we stop buying muffins!! This week has been my not awesome. I haven't been able to update my board yet (I just did my rotation final exam), but I might be close to the top the way my macros have been going :(

This week was crazy busy... and I think my eating reflected it. But here's the week 3 report:

End of week 3 board:

qMFVl.png

So this was definitely not my most stellar week. I was on call a couple times, had my final exams for the rotation, and just generally didn't feel very healthy or motivated. But I did survive (barely). This next week will need to be pretty good though if I'm going to make it. Also I think I'm going to need a change-up for next challenge. Starting to stall a bit...

APD Average score for the week: 7

kmYjZ.png

Weekly Score: 5

Cumulative Score: 19

One more mindset quest done this week, so that's progressing pretty well.

New Board:

CV9m5.png

Yah, definitely going to need to be a good boy this week... which may be tough because it's another call week. But I'll try!

So, I'm going to be a total slacker and not post my final week board. Piecing the board together got a bit annoying... Two challenges was just a bit too long.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how the challenge went. It kept me tracking and even though I went over my macros sometimes, it really did help reign it in and make sure I didn't go too crazy. I also did well with stretching every day, although I honestly truly think I got less flexible, which is kind of annoying after almost 3 months.

This last week I've been slacking a bit, because next challenge I'm going a bit more intense. It is also my last week of call for a while! So that'll be good going forward, but it made this week a bit of a mess.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to next challenge, a new start and hopefully some good progress!!
