Week 0 – Thursday

 

at work:

3 planks @ 75s

wall sit @ 60s

chair pose @ 60s

boat pose @ 60s

 

when I got home I did my 15 burpees, a yoga based dynamic warmup and then,

 

Day 2 Week 1 Spartan WOD

5 pushups (on knees)

30s plank

15 BW squats

5 lunges each side

3 lateral lunges

30s bear crawl hold

x3

 

then some more yoga stretches

 

dinner was accompanied by some delicious French hard cider that SO got for her bday. I had been stressed about a presentation I had to give to my coworkers yesterday and cider seemed appropriate.

 

Weights: 0/2

Spartan: 2/5

Burpees: 15/45

Yoga: 41/60; 3/3

Bear crawls are really popular at my PL gym. for all as I call it a PL gym, it's really just a kind of functional fitness place. Lots of movement based classes, most people don't go there to work out on their own. when there is a class going on while i'm at BB club I often see them doing bear crawls on the turf. How did you like them? I haven't tried them yet. 

 

And how did your presentation go? I am sure you rocked it!

i've done them before when training for my first spartan in 2014, they are similar to burpees (when you actually do the crawl movement) in that they are working your whole body. also you have to concentrate more than doing burpees to make sure your moving your hands and feet at the right times. lotsa coordination. i can do backwards bear crawls at the speed of a snail lol

thanks! i got some good compliments so i think it was fine. my body reacts so much to public speaking. like i'm not mentally nervous i don't think but i'll start sweating and shaking and my voice trembles lol it's super frustrating.

congrats! you're going to have a blast. i don't know if i would really recommend starting to prep so late in the game (as i am lol) to people who are new to functional fitness but if you've had any sort of exercise regime for a little bit you should be fine :D

It won't be a stadium for sure, but I am not sure exactly where it will be.  Probably on some piece of undeveloped property somewhere waaaaaaay outside the city

lol they do that here too, it's called the Boston Sprint but it's really and hour and a half west of the city in another town

Well, I checked the website and the only information they have is a notice that says "More details to be Announce Soon!"

 

Could be they are still haven't finalized booking the location.  This could get interesting...

I always used to get the speaking sweats! I started Toastmasters like... 6 years ago? and now just do it sporadically but it did cure it.
