My husband and I live in an awesome apartment that we both love. I'm supremely ecstatic about life - I went to Disney World for my honeymoon! It was legit sooo much fun. The downside was that I did, in fact, gain back all of my 'crash diet' weight. Not a surprise, but not pleasant either. Plus some more. Not cool. - I chopped off ALL my hair. All of it. It's gorgeous So yeah. My brain space about my physical appearance is Not Good. So I will be working on that as I work on everything else. A quote from a favorite book of mine: "I let all my training go flying merrily out the window, let my own problems get the better of me, and completely lost my temper. Maybe you better send me back through the Collegium with the babies again." - Mercedes Lackey, Arrow's Fall I've gotta go back through some basic training because I'm having some silly difficulties right now. So my goals are going to be pretty easy. 1) Only weigh yourself a maximum of once a week +2 CHA, +1 WIS +1 CHA +.5 WIS (slip up no more than twice) +.5 CHA +.25 WIS (slip up no more than once a week) I have been way too obsessed with the number on the scale rather than with performance or clothes fitting (though that's a problem too). So I'm going to force myself to get out of the habit completely. No more of that silliness. None. No ruining my peace of mind with digitalized numbers. 2) Stretch daily (6x/week) +2 DEX +2 CHA +1 DEX +1 CHA (miss one week) +.5 DEX +.5 CHA (miss two weeks) I love feeling flexible I am going to keep doing this goal for a while, I really enjoy that feeling. 3) Track food +2 WIS +2 CON (all or nothing) Easy way to be able to keep better track of what I'm eating. Starting slowly 4) 2 Beginner Bodyweight Workouts per week +2 STR +2 STA +1 STR +1 STA (miss a week) +.5 STR +.5 STA (miss two weeks) I'm starting with two this month, that way I only have to do it in the middle of the week once. I'm usually completely exhausted coming home from work so I need to reintroduce working out slowly. One weekday and one weekend day is a good start. Well, here's my challenge. Hopefully it goes well since this will be my first one in a while! Slowly. I'll be stretching later tonight most likely. I did do a bad eating thing earlier today, but I also didn't eat lunch like a dummy. So it'll hopefully balance out a little bit. Meh. I recorded it anyway. Tomorrow I'm working out again, doing the beginner bodyweight workout. I think I'm gonna give it one more week of two rounds before I go back to 3 rounds. I believe in you as well!! We can do it together <3 So the past few days have gone fairly well. I have been recording all the foods, have stretched at least a little every day thus far, worked out on Monday, will be working out today, and am feeling okay. Today's workout is gonna be the hardest because it's gonna be later in the evening. I have to eat dinner first so I have to eat, get through my post eating sleepiness, and power through one more workout for the week. I think just in recording things I'm eating better tho, not fantastically, but better. I did my weekly weigh-in and I was, yet again, up by a moderately significant amount. Gah. Yesterday in general was a bad day. I wasn't very productive like I'd hoped (Stressful, problematic situations all day) and I was so exhausted by all the stress and stuff by the end of the day that I didn't work out like I wanted to. Which is feeding in to my "I feel really awful about my body" thing that's currently an issue. This whole couple of weeks has been highly stressful, which makes it very very difficult (for me at least) to eat well. Hopefully things will calm down soon? Meh. Today is a new day, and I'm trying to do better. I had a good breakfast and packed a good lunch as well as a snack. I will work out this evening. I've logged everything, even the bad stuff. Today is my first day of three rounds of the BBWW instead of two, which is going to be exhausting but worth it. I say again, hopefully today will be better. I think that one way to help is to stop buying myself hummus and pita chips. They're delicious, and hummus is healthy, but I eat far too much at once and it's not really conducive to what I'm trying to do. Buying my Goldfish crackers in individual baggies helps as well because I can just have some without having to worry too much about portioning them out (and overeating). I'll also make sure I only have a max of one glass of the orange-mango delicious juice a day. If any. Anything I want aside from that should be tea or coffee or water. Lastly I need to be better about portioning. I was always pretty good at that, but my sweet husband loves to fix my plate for me. He always asks me if he's overdoing it, but it's harder to tell if it's too much from just looking at it. I find buying things in individual packs to be a huge help, especially now when I'm only just starting to educate myself about what exactly is in my food and what exactly I need to eat. Good Luck! I also identified one more thing that I really really need to stop doing: I need to stop reading and eating. I absolutely need to quit it. My (excuse) reason for not doing so previously was that I didn't have time to read aside from while eating. That may have been kinda true then, but it is no longer true. I have SO much time that I need to fill. Thanks So here's the list No more Hummus and Pita chips Goldfish in individual baggies 1 or less glasses of juice each day portion sizes No more reading and eating I can't really do anything about the first two aside from just doing them. My short term goals for the next... week or so, are these: 1 glass juice max Continue recording Watch portion sizes where I can Stop reading/eating together for dinner and after Basically the whole thing with this is that breakfast and lunch are portioned and time limited enough that I'm rarely (if ever) going to have an overeating problem. But dinner is the main problem right now. It was a fail because I still have not worked out for the week. However, my awesome husband suggested we go to a trampoline park after work today so if we do, that's one workout for the week. Such fun! If not, then I'm going to work out tonight (hopefully) It was a win because I ate properly and decently. No overeating. No excessive portions. And I fought for it too. So difficult. But I'm really proud of myself for not overeating in the evening like I have been far too often. We even discovered that there's a ninja course there!! we both wanna try even though I personally know I won't get very far haha Food is going much better, I'm managing to pull myself out of the hole I was in in regards to food. TheGreyJedi-Ranger Posted June 8, 2017 Author Report Share Posted June 8, 2017 I just realized that I probably won't get another strength workout in this week, I'd much rather get back on a schedule on Sunday. So I'll probably go for a run or something on Saturday morning. Some kind of workout that won't kill me like the BBWW would doing it two days in a row. I may get up and do yoga or something that morning, or maybe go running. I can't do anything in the afternoon because we're going to my brother-in-law's high school graduation. I think that the effort is important and counts. Part of me is tempted to get up when my husband does (an hour before I need to be up) and do a yoga video of some kind instead of trying to workout in the evenings. Doing some kind of daily yoga could be super helpful. I don't know, I'd rather try to get the bodyweight workout working for me, try that for a couple of months. If I keep changing my plans in the middle of my challenges, I'll never build good habits like I need to. My working out and stretching aren't fantastic, but I'm getting better. I definitely failed the stretching goal for this week. But I'm trying to get back into the habit. I think I need to make it a morning habit when I first get up and if I'm not working out that day (or even if I am). Maybe later if it stops acting up I'll do yoga, but I can't do much right now. I cracked it really badly and it's more sore than it was. I've got it braced for right now. My eating is better than it was but still not fabulous. I'm heavier than last week even though I ate better, but I think that part of that is that I'm having *cough* girl problems *cough* and I always am heavier then. We shall see. Stretching is better. Much better. Any opinions on whether yoga would cause it more trouble or not? I'd like to work out in some manner but I really don't wanna mess it up any worse than it already is. I might start trying to do yoga a few days a week since my ankle is being stupid. I probably need to look up some exercises to strengthen it too. Any ideas guys? Eating is a constant learning and failing but doing slightly better each day/week. Habits first, it's not all going to come off immediately. Once I start building good habits slowly, it'll start getting better. Regular workouts are my first serious goal that I really really need to get going on. I was doing well before I got derailed I need to find something that isn't hard to convince myself to do after a long day at work. Maybe yoga is the answer, I dunno. I don't have much other choice right now honestly so I'll just have to do it and see what happens. But as for the workout thing, would it help if you had clear motivation and reasons for doing them? For instance, I find it so much harder to skip a workout knowing that I have a physically demanding weekend coming up in July. It helps me climb out of bed at 5.30 when some days I really don't want to.
