Honeybadger: Boot(camp) and Rally

Recommended Posts

Last challenge focused on holding it together after life lifed all over me. Overall, I was pretty successful. That being said, my primary goal for this challenge is to RALLY! Challenge goals will be broken up into two categories exercise (bootcamp/running) and life (adulting/selfcare).

I am not going to have a specific diet goal that I will be reporting on for this challenge. I will continue to log food in MFP and focus on making sure I'm eating enough.  This has gotten better but still not where it should be. If I get to the point where I am eating just a bunch of crap or way too many calories I will add a specific goal bac in.

Exercise

I signed up for a bootcamp lite at a local Crossfit. I have attended 2 classes so far and love it. I get unlimited classes for the month and intend on taking full advantage (after all I spent a whole $24 on the groupon). I also want to keep running and incorporate some RWR into my routine if it ever stops raining long enough. I will adapt my running goal based on my bootcamp WODs. My first WOD was all running but today's had little cardio. I see how I feel as I go.

Goal 1: Go to bootcamp at least 2-3x/week

Goal 2: Run at least 2x/week (one run should be a "long" run of at least 4 miles)

Life

I am still working on holding it together. I need to start making some plans for next steps because co-habitation with my ex is not sustainable. I need to keep busy and stay connected to people. The new challenge is that I am finished with work for the summer. I did land a 6 week PT gig but that does not until the end of June. Life goals.

Goal 1: Apartment search (I have left a message for a realtor!!)

Goal 2: Don't isolate- Same as last challenge, I need to be active on the forums and make it a point to stay busy. Reach out to people, make plans, take people up on offers to help.

Goal 3: No stabbing- figured this was worth keeping. I am going to broaden the goal to include avoiding the low road. It does not help the situation and ultimately makes me feel worse. I will confess my indiscretions.

Thanks in advance for all the continued Ranger support!!

Welcome as always. Does daydreaming a little about revenge fantasies count as taking the low road? I think it might. Better try to avoid that as well.

I realized that that I have just about completed all my zero week goals!!!! The only exception being to schedule service for my car. I really need to wait until after the vet to see if I need to wait a paycheck.

Day 1 of new challenge! I was a bit confused by the start date and day not matching, Sunday May 27th....What day is today? What is the date? I am easily confused.  YAY day 1.

I had a really hard time sleeping last night and woke up with a bad food hangover. Went to see Guardians last night and ate too much crap...usually not a problem but I haven't been eating a ton of sugar lately or a ton of anything. My tummy is revolting.

Plan for the day exercise- long run (might have to be DM depending on my tummy)

Plan for the day life- make a to do list for the week, start thinking of plans to be out of the house next weekend, take the high road (the siren song of the low road is calling me, must resist....)

I still have ave not decided about bootcamp tomorrow. The WOD is Murph. The coach was convincing me to come and do a modified version (I wouldn't modify the run, obvi).

I would treat it like meditation. You are "supposed" to clear your mind, but thoughts come in, so you acknowledge them and gently push them away. I think in this case, you can smirk a little, take a deep breath, and turn back to the high road.

And given that you are a True Blood fan, had you thought of this??

I'm pretty sure she actually says "Boot and Rally" in this episode (also the name of the episode), but I couldn't find it. This is pretty good though.

She does indeed say that in the episode. I was reminded when I read your challenge...it was my inspiration for my challenge title.

The high road was taken again. I am practicing a lot of mindfulness.

I managed to get a run in I biked for 30 minutes (twice as long as planned) I ran for a little over 3 miles and walked the last mile to make it 4 miles total. I will count this as my long run for the week if I can't get another one in. I am still undecided about bootcamp tomorrow. I'll decide in the morning.

As as it turns out Sundays  have become the "let's have emotional and painful conversations about my relationship ending day"... ugh. High road was taken, there may have been a pot hole or two but the high road was taken.  I am proud that I managed to get a workout in because said conversation happened as I was getting ready to walk out the door. I remember when Sundays were TWD or GOT days. I miss Sundays being about zombies and dragons!

I will rally as planned. I have some day drinking plans with a friend for tomorrow. I have made my "To Do" list for the week. My list includes making weekend plans.

I did not do Murph on Monday mostly because I was lazy still very sore from Friday's WOD (DOMS I wish I could quit you)! I think I might have done the day-drinking equivalent of Murph and I am suffering a bit today as a result. Totally worth it though! Had a good time got a tour of an area I am interested in renting in and looked at apartment listings over drinks.

Today has been a good day so far. I took the dog to the vet, she was very good and is healthy. I also washed the dog (after the vet), cleaned the bathroom and packed up my winter coats and snowshoes. I emailed the realtor I left a voicemail for on Friday, hoping she might get back to me. I also scheduled an apartment viewing for Friday. It is within my budget, allows dogs and is only 40 min from work (I live an hour away now).

Tomorrow is bootcamp. Tonight is a scheduled "talk" with the ex.

Good for you!  Rangered as expected!  In case I haven't mentioned it besides in silly gif form, I really admire your ability to get through this transition.  I shudder to think about how I would handle it, but know it wouldn't be calmly...with actual conversation.  You are doing the hard stuff, and are getting stronger and stronger as you do.

Today was a pretty good day. Trying to stay positive. I made it to bootcamp.

WOD if anyone is interested.

Spoiler

Supposed to be/ What I did

5 Rounds / 4 Rounds (told to by coach for newbies)

20 sit ups / 20 sit ups

25 box jump overs 20 inch/ 25 jump overs 2 45lb plates

30 walking lunges w/25 lb plate over head/ 30 with 15lb plate, 30 with 10lb plate, last 2 rounds just arms overhead

Time cap of 25 and 20 minutes I did my 4 rounds in 20:19

Some easy cycling after the workout.

I may not be able to walk tomorrow. I'll stretch more later and have a date with my foam roller.

I spent some time on craigslist looking for apartments. It is really difficult to find places that will allow dogs. Even small 16lb dogs! I still have not heard back from the realtor my co worker recommended. I will try a different one tomorrow and contact a few places I found on line. I think I have narrowed down where I want to look which helps. The place I am scheduled to see is kinda in the middle of nowhere. Might not be the best for a newly single introvert.

I also did my first chalk paint project today! Usually I start projects and don't finish them or if I do manage to finish they look very very different than expected. This one worked and looks good!!! I'll post a picture as soon as it is dry and not smelly so I can bring it inside. I'm proud.

Tomorrow's "To Do" list

-New realtor

-Email apartments

-Complete paperwork and BCI for my PT summer gig

-Therapy

Thanks SuzyQ! I am trying to stay as positive as possible and definitely trying to focus on positive stuff here. I certainly have not been entirely calm and have lost my shit too many times to count (several of those were at work). My extended bike ride on sunday was because it took me that long to stop crying on the stationary bike so I could run safely on the DM. Communicating is important even though it hurts. This is also hard because if communication was something my ex was good at we might not be in this situation. we might still be splitting up but under different less painful circumstances. Therapy and medication helps also.

Wow didn't expect such a long post thanks if you hung in there!!!

Time for dinner!

The release date for Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” was revealed Thursday: Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 16.

Sunday's WILL be about dragons again!

I think you are doing great. When I was going through a rough time a couple of years ago, I counted it as a success that I took a shower, got dressed and went to work every day. I might not have gotten much done, been good company for any of my friends etc. You are holding your shit together pretty darned well, and you're allowed to get upset.

And that bootcamp - wow! Box jumps terrify me: I am always convinced I'm going to catch a toe and fall on my face. And lunges just suck period. You know what the Army calls lunges? "Iron Mikes". We used to do them for a couple hundred meters, then sprint, then more lunges for another couple hundred meters, then sprint again, for EVER way longer than anyone in their right mind ought to.

So why am I still intrigued at the idea of copying that WOD and doing it my own self? :P

I am soooo sore today! Meeting my running goals will be real hard this challenge. I am feeling (the good kind of) sore in areas that I know need to firm up (thuttocks) so I'm ok with the pain.

I have ave spent the morning looking on line for apartments. Ugh. It is my least favorite thing under the best of circumstances. I sent an email to one begging them to consider my furry beastie. I have to call a new realtor. I think this might be the best way to go but my social anxiety is kicking in. Peopling is hard.

I had a very bad experience doing box jumps years ago that ruined them for me. I did exactly what you fear. I didn't fall on my face but did smash my shins badly.  Lunges just suck but they really do get the job done. What I like about yesterday's WOD is that it is pretty easy to do at home.

I would like like to attempt a run today. Right now we have no hot water so I might wait until I will be able to shower.

Here is my project. Don't technically know how to describe chalk paint but it is used to get a distressed look. It photographed a little more stripey than it looks IRL.

I did not get a run in yesterday. Our hot water was not on until after 4 and by then I was into my evening routine and then therapy. I did take the dog for a longer walk than usual after it stopped raining and thunderstorming.

I did get a referral for a new realtor. I am more hopeful about this one as she is very friendly with my co-worker. I have decided to cancel my apartment viewing for tonight because I decided it is too far from everything other than work. I have decided on three specific towns to focus my search on that are all just as close to work but also close to friends and my new gym that I am falling in love with. Not sure how I will afford to continue after the month but I'll worry about that later.

Today was bootcamp.  It was awesome.

WOD

Spoiler

4 Rounds

Min 1 Max Row

Min 2 Max Double Unders

Min 3 Max Cal Bike

Min 4 Max Hollow Rocks

Rest 1 Minute

It was fun because of the jump rope!

After bootcamp (because I am a gross person) I went to Target and bought a few non-essentials that fall int the category of self care. Pretty purple nail polish, a candle and more bubble bath. Then I went to the market because being gross and smelly at Target was not enough. Stocked up on yogurt and seltzer; scored some turkey thighs with a $3 off "managers special" coupon.

My plan for the afternoon is:

-Take a nice long hot bath (not the luke warm bath I tried to take when out hot water was out).

-Email the new realtor.

-Think of plans that will keep me out of the house as much as possible. No bonus kid buffers this weekend. Unfortunately the forecast is rain all weekend so a destination RWR is out of the question.
